A Creative Experience is absolutely professional about their work. Susan and Frank were exceptional in their timeliness and satisfactory completion of my first book cover. I would definitely refer them and will use them again for other projects!

I chose Debora for our family photos and I don't think we could have had a better experience. Family photo can be stressful, especially with our bunch. Three girls, two big dogs, a husband who doesn't exactly love his photograph being taken and a wife who chose a location that didn't have cell phone coverage. To complicate matters, our family arrived in three separate cars. Not only was I very late arriving but it was nearing sunset and the husband was NOT happy with me. Drama! None of this even phased Debora. She has this calm grounded way about her that made everything work out. Better than work out. By the end of the session, she even captured a few shots of my husband and I kissing. There was such a variety of shots from grouped ones of the all three girls smiling into the lens at the SAME time, to artistic shots and my favorite, the very candid ones that captured everyone's personality perfectly. I really don't know how she did it considering that I was late and that limited our time due to the sun setting. Most importantly, we had a good time together and our pictures reflect that. I am forever grateful to Debora for our new gallery wall over the couch. I smile every time I see it. In the past we usually get one or two really good shots to frame for the walls. We ended up framing eleven shots that we loved and made a book out of the rest. Debora is creative enough that you can use her year after year and your family photos won't look "matching". Her prices are very fair too. A huge relief for this Mom always stressed over getting family photos taken. I bought a gift certificate from Debora the very next day. I want my brother and his family to have the same happy experience we had. :)

Shocase was absolutely phenomenal! Their prompt response to my initial inquiry was great, not to mention they're style! I was so impressed with their sense of what the home needed to really shine. I highly recommend them for all realtors and home owners who are looking to really "show off" their home. A+ in my book.

After interviewing several Editors, it was a no-brainer to pick Tanya. Her skills seemed far superior and they proved to be sky high above my expectations. Tanya is a wordsmith extraordinaire who breathed new life into my story! She is friendly, communicative and was always available for my questions while working on my story. Bezuki Services / Several Stories High is a great team. They were very professional and passionate with my story. I ended up with my story that now flows well for readers and has an eye-catching cover on the book. I feel blessed to have found this team!

I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Liz on book projects for the past six years. She has a sixth sense for being able to create covers that capture perfectly the essence of the books that I edit. Not once has she delivered among her design options a concept that has had to go back to the drawing board. My clients consistently rave over the covers that serve as the gateway to the content they provide their readers. I count myself blessed to be able to work with such a talent.

Nate is an amazingly creative and diverse talent. Over two years ago, I stumbled upon his website after doing a search for graphic designers. Since that time, he has developed an arsenal of pieces and campaigns for me - from datasheets, to portfolio presentations, Twitter and Facebook covers, book covers, stationary, promotional flyers, business card, website banners, business cards, logos and so much more. I cannot stress enough that THERE IS ABSOULTELY NOTHING THAT HE CAN'T DO! Not to mention, he is affordable, timely, super patient, easy to work with, and always willing to make changes until the job is done to perfection. Oddly enough, I probably would not recognize him if we bumped into each other on the street (b/c we've never met), but I adore him and his commitment to professional excellence.

I wrote my memories of 125 pages including photos. Jessica was very instrumental in the organization, editing and physical publishing of the book.

I've experienced many of Sean Michael Robinson's talents first-hand; I've performed and recorded with Sean the musician / songwriter, I've commissioned Sean the visual artist to create vibrant, eye-catching posters, and I've read and enjoyed Sean the author's articles and books. It's rare that someone can simultaneously excel in so many disciplines; but he really does. He's also an excellent instructor. Part of why he's such a great instructor is that he's also a great student of all these different skills. He is very familiar with beginner learning curves, getting over the bump after early successes, and what it takes to master a craft and he has the patience and kindness to help other people through those struggles too.

I hired Nerdigital for local seo work. My company has been in a bit of a free fall the past few years and I decided to take a chance on digital and hire the Tony and his team. Tony walked out company through what his team would be doing and his process in order for us to keep track of proceedings. It was a lot of hard work from his team and my team but our company is beginning to see the fruits of our labor. Over the past 3 months, we've seen more sales and bookings than any other 3 months stretch in our history. The time and money invested with Nerdigital was something that I wish we had started years ago but either way, I'm very happy with the results. Now it's up to tony and his team at Nerdigital to keep it up for us!

Driven to write my Vietnam memoir, I persisted in that lonely task and completed a first draft. I was pleased, but knew I needed an editor. I contacted Cecilia Fannon in California and she agreed to work with me. In the time agreed upon, she thoughtfully reviewed the manuscript and vastly helped me improve my efforts. Her editing made my book more compelling. She did not change the story I wanted to tell, but it was better. An established writer, she is extremely intelligent, fun to work with, and scrupulously honest. A rare combination. Nothing went wrong and I recommend her to a wide range of authors without reservation.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

      • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
      • Strong writing skills.
      • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
      • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
      • Expertise in your target area.
      • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

      • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
      • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
