They did a good moving job. Thay came a little late like 10mins but they moved my stuff so fast and didnt drag the time. Anyway, I found that my mattress was torn and saw a scratch on my drawer which i'm sure that it heppened between the moving cuz my furniture is new and never did any moving before. But for all they did good just want you guys to pay attention about stuff scratching more than this

Roy was FANTASTIC to work with. He was proactive and very professional. The building I was moving out of has an HOA that can be quite a pain to deal with regarding move paperwork, and Roy was extremely accommodating to provide insurance docs etc. On the day of the move, the moving crew was on time, fast but not too fast that there was any carelessness, and very careful by wrapping all my furniture etc. I would 100% recommend Top Shelf to my friends, and use them again in future moves.

I had a great experience with Moving Relocation Specialists. Rod was very responsive prior to the job. They also were quite flexible and understanding as I had to change the moving time last minute. They arrived on time, and were prepared with tools to dissemble my furniture (mine were already packed). They remained positive/fun and helpful as the move encountered a few obstacles. I did not feel that I got the deal of the century but I didn’t feel gypped either. The pricing was fair and they worked very hard. Hiring these guys made things much, much easier on me. I would absolutely recommend Moving Relocation Specialists.

I used Thumbtack to connect with SD Royal Movers. They gave me a flat quote for the 6 furniture items, no extra fees for mileage/fuel. While other companies were requiring a 2-3hr minimum. They were easy to work with from the beginning. On moving day I had Edber and Hector. They were efficient and careful with my items. They were friendly communicators and I appreciated when they would confirm where I liked the furniture placed. I will definitely use their services again.

I had few items to deliver to my mom last night , but my move was scheduled for today. All the companies were giving me 3 hours minimum of labor for the job that will literally take 1.5-2 hours. Cube movers offered the same , but they used extra hour for packing my boxes and get my stuff ready for todays move. Hopefully I will get the same crew today ( it was Vlad and Sergio), they should move the rest to my new apartment today at 10 am. The most important thing- they are licensed and insured ( I didn't know it will be difficult to find one). Few companies that gave me quotes are not even licensed, I don't trust those businesses!

My originally planned movers did not show up and Hector with Vazquez moving was able to put together a crew to move me into my home at the last minute. The crew was meticulous in protecting my belongings and were very careful not to damage my home moving out and moving in. Mosley is a great crew lead and you'll be lucky to have them manage your move. I would recommend them ... they are good people and did a great job!

This was an unexpected move that I didn't have much time to think about, and Move Central made it all happen with hardly any effort on my part. Daniel called me on a Sunday afternoon to explain the process, costs and planning, and was able to fit my move into the schedule within 3 days. The crew packed my entire house in one day and moved it all the next. Everyone was on time, efficient, neat and careful. The entire move went smoothly and Anthony and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Moving is never fun, but Move Central took all the pressure off. Thank you!

Was able to receive a quote and schedule the move very easily through Allen. Was told the movers would arrive between 10-11am on the day of the move and they arrived right on time. Both movers were friendly and professional and did a great job with handling several pieces of heavy and antique furniture. They both worked hard the entire time with only stopping for a quick lunch break, which they didn't count as our moving time. In the end the move took a little longer than our original quote, but it was well worth it to have their help as they were hard workers and took the time to even put furniture back together and move it when I requested. Would gladly hire them again and recommend for anyone looking to move soon!

We were very happy with our experience hiring Credo Moving. Max was awesome! He took so much care wrapping and protecting all of our furniture. Everything arrived in perfect condition. We had a lot to move and they expertly fit everything into the truck. When we arrived at our new place, they continued to work hard and didn’t slow down even though it was a long day moving all of our things. Max took extra care to make sure that every item was placed in the right room, which is going to save us so much time unpacking and settling in. I would 100% recommend Credo to anyone looking for movers.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Best Fit. More specifically, our moving team of Kol, Sam and Patrick. These guys were motivated. We thought it was going to be an easy move. Moving out of an apartment on the east side of downtown to a higher apartment downtown. They showed up early, shook hands and were professional from the beginning. They wrapped everything securely, even stuff we didn't really mind needing wrapping, and they were quick but careful. Their truck didn't fit in the loading dock so they even had to haul it out into street and never complained once. What really surprised us is they knew our names and were very courteous. Seriously, like the best experience moving ever.

I had a great experience with Moving on Moving Company. They were very flexible in working with my schedule and were able to work me in when I needed them to. Jacqueline came out and assessed my belongings which none of the other movers did, and that made me feel like they knew what they were doing from the start. The guys were great, very professional, friendly, and hard workers. I am planning to use them again.

Amazing plumber. We did a full renovation and he really took care of us and made sure all the new fixtures and appliances worked as well as running water to the fridge. He was super professional and got the job done quick and helped me get this project knocked out. I would high recommend him for plumbing work as he is very detailed, organized, keeps things clean and easy to work with! Thanks man!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
