I hired Maison Colori to create a memory quilt for my son who is heading off to college across the country. The process was easy, the work was completed by hand, and the end product was incredible! Kenza completed a small quilt for me using quilting blocks I had embroidered- i had never done anything like this and had found her randomly on Thumbtack. From start to finish Kenza was amazing - she guided me through fabric choices, layout, etc., etc. and kept me regularly posted on progress. I could not be happier! What customers should know about quilt pricing. Quilt pricing varies greatly as it depends on a number of factors that go into the cost of making a quilt. The cheaper the quilt making cost, the cheaper the materials and craftsmanship used to make it. The cost of materials: Fabric - Good quality quilting fabric (100% cotton with a high thread count) costs between $12 and $20+ per yard and is needed for piecing the quilt top, quilt back and quilt binding. Batting - or “stuffing” used in the middle of the quilt. Good quality batting is either cotton, bamboo or wool batting which can costs more than 3 times the price of polyester batting. Thread - Quality threads (for piecing the quilt top and quilting the quilt layers together) that will withstand the test of time. Design and the cost of labor: It takes skill and time to make a quilt and the design and style of the quilt will drive the overall cost of the quilt. Original and intricate designs and customized quilting require time, skill and creativity but will make for an irreplaceable keepsake. A memory quilt for example which is made with various clothing items involves a lot of consideration, planning, math and other time consuming steps and may take 10 times or longer than a quilt made out of yardage.
