Before taking piano lessons with Rebecca, my only experience with musical instruction was through elementary and junior high. Rebecca's training and personal dedication to music makes her an extraordinary teacher. We use the Suzuki books, which I love because that's what I used for violin and flute. She supplements those favorites with really nice adult-learning-centered books on theory. As an adult learner, this was helpful, because I could read through these brief books, but then had the terminology to look up my questions online or know what to ask in lessons. The lessons are so fun and well organized. We work on the songs in the books (which included CDs of the songs so you can hear what the song might sound like if you practice enough) and she would help me with songs I brought in too. Rebecca is so kind, and is great with my five-year-old too. Really, Rebecca is an excellent music instructor. Her academic background, many years of actually playing piano and singing, knowledge of the music available and books, and variety of students -- all make her a versatile teacher, capable of helping anyone learn to the play the piano in whatever style they are interested in. Plus, she is an incredible person. I look forward to piano lessons with her.
My two boys have been receiving lessons for almost 3 years from Jamie Bosenberg. They were 5 and 7 at the time when they started. She taught them not only how to play the piano beautifully, but how to read music as well! She is flexible with our crazy schedule and was able to fit us in a time block that works with our needs. She is so patient and great with the boys. She's such a great person and truly cares about my boys as she feeds her love for music to them! I would absolutely recommend her to others!
Terri is a wonderful teacher. I began taking cello lessons from her earlier this year. She is patient, talented, and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend her to anyone with a desire to make music!
I am a colleague of September Payne. I have performed with her flute choirs and have known her as a teacher and flutist for almost 20 years. She is very professional, kind and encouraging with her students. Her knowledge of flute playing and repertoire is extensive and she knows how to get the best from her students. She is very giving of her time and your student will flourish under her tutelage. She makes the flute sing!
I've been receiving alto sax lessons from Dave for a few months, and I feel my understanding for the instrument and music in general has been greatly broadened. Each lesson he reveals something I didn't even know I didn't know about playing. His good humored wisdom and wit, paired with stories of a lifetime spent in love with music, create a safe, comfortable environment to deepen inspiration and growth.
My granddaughter began studying recorder and flute with Dr. Payne about one year ago, and already at age 8 she has performed in two recitals on flute and enjoys serenading her family and friends. Dr. Payne uses firm but supportive teaching techniques and gets great results. Our family is deeply grateful for her influence on our budding musician.
I’ve learned a great deal from studying with Marion at least ten years now. She has always been able to help me with specific problems on both my c flute and alto flute. She plays all styles besides classical: jazz, pop, rock (she had a Jethro Tull tribute band) and especially excels at contemporary classical music on many lower flutes. She can play piccolo if she has to but prefers c and lower flutes. She is an expert of low flutes. She is an experienced adjudicator and knows flutists locally and internationally, always participating in NFA and the British equivalent. She is flexible. She’s played with me at recitals even. She has a vast library of printed music and almost always something new to show me. Most of all she believes that flute playing should be fun. She’s current with new technologies and hasn’t been strict with me which I appreciate. I think her fee is reasonable considering her knowledge and level of playing. I highly recommend her.
My daughter has been seeing David for flute lessons for a little over a year now. She has learned so much from David from fingering technique, to breathing control, to just giving her that confidence she needs knowing that she is learning and doing better every time she sees him. I cannot be more impressed with what and how he has been teaching her! When she has exceeded what he has been teaching her David will give her a harder lesson to work on.
My 10 year old son, Jaden, has been taking piano lessons from Rick for going on two months now. His lessons are once per week and he absolutely LOVES it! Rick is an amazing teacher. He is welcoming, knowledgeable, encouraging, and most of all, patient.ï Jaden has learned far more in the past 8 lessons than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Thumbtack! And thank you Rick! ï
After 3 years with the same flute instructor and little improvement I knew it was time for a change, we found James and after a few months our expectations were far exceeded !!
Great instructor and musician. Knows his craft extremely well. He is not a kind of teach if you can't do kind of guy....very versatile in terms of genres with good knowledge of theory and explains well....I highly recommend him....I have been playing piano since I was 9 and seen a lot of teachers, but he surely stands out.....Very reasonable rate....much more reasonable than people who I didn't think were as qualified as he was.....

It is my goal to foster a lifelong love of music and making music with others. I have been teaching all ages and stages in the communities of North San Diego County Inland for the past 15 years. I have learned to tailor each student's course of study to their individual need. For some, this includes participation in "The Music Development Program", an internationally recognized comprehensive, leveled certificate program. I encourage all my students to participate in our weekly flute choir classes. We do several performances each year. I also coordinate the very successful "Flutesteps Summer Flute Camp" which is now coming up on its fifth year.
Toni Aguilar is a freelance musician throughout southern California. She is an alumna of California State University, Fullerton where she received a bachelor's in music in flute performance. Ms. Toni currently lives in Temecula, CA with her husband, Everardo, and son, Cruz. She is currently accepting new students into her studio. Providing the student with the appropriate knowledge and musical exercises, improvement will be seen in a short amount of time. Several aspects create incredible flutists. The resources available in my studio are truly amazing, from all the instruments to amazing software on the computer. I first studied electronic music at SDSU in 1980. A lot has changed then and I've continued to develop my skills along with all the technological developments.
I've played the flute for 15 years and have worked with children for 10 years. My experience allows me to understand my students and customize each season in way that will inspire and motivate them Also I was in one of the Marine Corps bands. I can help students audition for a military band as well as teach them the lifestyle and customs of being in the military.
