I had a lady come by for the initial estimate. Her name was Jaeleah. She was an estimate manager. She was very nice and asked a lot of questions and took down a lot of notes and even left me with a business card. From there within the hour I received an email regarding the estimate and availability. I then, had a scheduling manager contact me to confirm details and day along with time. On the day of the actual clean up, I had a lead landscaper by the name of Catarino ( Cat for short) come with a young man named Kevin, Cat did not speak perfect English but he could communicate and tried very hard, Kevin spoke perfect English and helped me to confirm what I thought Cat was saying. The guys started the job which consisted of removing grass and weeds on a 3500 sq foot lot. I figured it would take the guys 2 days to do that kind of job. When I got home after work around 6pm the guys were actually finishing up. I mean, I was shocked. I walked the lot with them and we went over ideas and I mean I was so amazed by how hard and fast they got this job done. As soon as my husband gets back in town we are going to confirm what our next plant of action will be. Cat recommended I install new more drought resistant sod along with some gorgeous flowers he showed me that compliment the color of my home really well. He even showed me pictures of other sod and landscape designs he has done in the past and the work was exquisite. For the quality of work these guys provide and the professionalism these guys could easily be charging double if not triple the prices they charge. I am thankful I found you guys. Thanks for all the hard work you all did for us! We are excited for whats to come.

We are currently working with Ghiasi Designsand it’s been an amazing experience so far! Arash has done it for over 20 years, so anything from furniture selection and materials selection, he has been on point, not jeopardizing our own style but at the same time elevating us to another level of existence and challenging to truly transform life along with transforming space. Very patient, honest, and fun and easy to work with. People were very impressed with our choice of designer and his selections everywhere I went with him or taking his samples and our house is coming together beautifully. I am managing renovations myself and he has been tremendously helpful, kind and patient but honest when it comes to my questions of choices, placements. Although our contract was for design and furniture, not project management, when he kindly offered one of his subcontractors to me when I needed extensive lighting work in my house , I had a glimpse of the quality and a value that he could bring to the turn key and project managemebt contracts. Even during our initial phone consultation and then first fade to face meeting/2 hrs consultation I was impressed with how intuitive and sensitive Arash is to the needs of the client and also space solutions. We have eventually listened to most of his initial advice and the one I didn’t listen to, I looked back and thought: I should have listened. So if you hire Ghiasi Designs for your project, submit to his creative genius and enjoy the process!

We found our handyman! He did an excellent job completing the tasks we have for him- even provided an affordable solution to a home aesthetic issue we have since we bought our house. Awesome multi-tasker, he knew how to prioritize work such that he did work that would take longest time first and was able to complete other tasks concurrently. Stephanie is very responsive and coordinated the project well.

This is my first time working with an interior decorator. I hired Brooke to help me design my living room. We just bought a new house and are trying to mix the older furniture with the new. Brooke, came in, assessed the situation, took pictures and measurements then came back the following week with a whole presentation including 2 different looks. She seemed to really understand my taste and put it all together nicely. She also offered to bring some samples to the house so we can see what it will look like in the room before I purchase them. I'm excited to see the room when it is complete. Brooke has been awesome to work with so far and I plan to continue to use her services! I highly recommend Brooke. She's extremely reasonable when it comes to cost and definitely goes above and beyond.

In August we moved to a new home in Poway. We love it so much but found ourselves in a furnishing dilemma. None of our old furniture fit into the new house and we just didn't know how to configure the rooms or what style we were going for. We felt like we needed help! We looked up interior designers on Thumbtack and kept going back to Kim Smart of Smart Interiors. Within 20 minutes of Kim walking through our front door we felt like a plan was evolving. Kim Smart has a great eye for color and design. She nailed our style with just a quick walk around our house. She is helping us add to what we have to get a more complete and consistent look. As we look for furniture and decorating items, Kim is great with sending pictures and links of ideas she finds that are perfect for our home. Not only has Kim helped us define our style but she is keeping us focused on our look and color palette. We were stuck...but with Kim’s help and guidance our house looks better than we could have imagined! We also love that she is so flexible. We can use her as much or as little as we need while we are decorating our home. Just have her come give you a consultation and her expertise and passion for design will inspire you! Jagger & Kristi

I hired Cassie to help me decorate my home. We’d moved in a year before and hadn’t hung any art/wall decor. Cassie is young, creative and energetic. She gave me a free consultation and then we met twice at my house. The second time we met at a furniture consignment store and she helped me pick out various decor and lamps. She worked with the pieces that I already had and made suggestions for where I had gaps. She helped me push furniture, hang pictures and place decor. We spent two afternoons and got my whole house done. Her creative eye and practical help were invaluable. I highly recommend her.

Finally, someone who gets my style !!! I love color and mixing design styles and after years of being told I “probably could not afford” the decorating I was asking for, I was wrong for mixing contemporary with traditional, I needed to use less color, and other comments, I feel lucky that I found Elena! It has been more than a year since we started working together to update my home. I love decorating and sometimes know exactly what I am looking for but can’t always describe it. Elena works with me, helping to transform the vision of what I want, not what she thinks I need or should have for my home. She also will select items I would have never thought of picking for myself and when that happens, WOW !

Bungalow 56 | Interiors & Events is amazingly talented! They were there to guide me through the design process and listened to what I wanted to achieve with the look and feel of my home. My home was recently featured with Pottery Barn and West Elm for its beautifully executed design and style. If you're are looking for a remodel, designing a new space or styling for an event hire them because they are 5 star from start to finish.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

        • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
        • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
        • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
        • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

        • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
        • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
        • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
        • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
