Introduction: I am very detail oriented, and take a minimalist approach to my setups, which keeps them clean and non-invasive. This is especially important when your special event is being photographed. I am a gear head and keep all of my equipment new, swapping out most of my gear once it hits the 3 year mark. I have extensive, formal training in audio, lighting, electronics, and event production. Playing music for people's listening enjoyment. There are few greater jobs than that, in my opinion.

DJ Von Woo is amazing. There really aren't words to describe how satisfied my wife and I were with his performance at our wedding, not to mention how much our guests loved him too. At the end of the night, we had guests going up to him and begging him to stay longer. He read the crowd perfectly, he literally had every person on the dance floor at one point or another, and there was not a time that the floor was empty the entire night. He kept the party going, transitioned into scheduled events like cake cutting, toasts, etc., flawlessly, and even gave some great advice on things to do in the area during our honeymoon. I don't think we could have asked for more; hands down the best entertainer I've ever worked with.

DJ Von was FANTASTIC! I couldnt have asked for a better wedding DJ and ceremony/dinner emcee. He met with me on the phone multiple times to get a sense of what I wanted and made sure that he would fit the bill. He offered multiple times to meet me in person or Skype, but I was unable to do either for a variety of reasons. My husband and I planned our wedding from 3,000+ miles away (in Boston for a wedding at Barndiva in Healdsburg, CA) and didnt meet any of the folks doing the ancillary things (flowers, DJ, photographer, etc.) until either the day of, or day before, the wedding. We relied on Yelp and word of mouth from others in the wedding industry. DJ Von was recommended to me by the photographer that we chose who said that he had photographed many weddings at Barndiva and had seen some real flops from a music standpoint including blown speakers and no shows. He said that DJ Von was by far the best hed seen and gave his top recommendation. Vaughn worked with us on special requests as well. My mom is a DJ, having done many weddings herself (she also thought he was great!), and I wanted to work in her announcing a song or two but not having to DJ the whole wedding. Vaughn seamlessly worked her in at the time that I asked and even called her up a second time to announce another song which made her very happy. We also asked him to play the music and do the transitions for our ceremony which he did perfectly. He has done many, many weddings and had great recommendations about what works where well for the ceremony and reception but was open to whatever I wanted to do. He has a very informative website that highlights samples of his work. If you dont find what you like there, however, I have no doubt that he can tailor something to fit your needs. While my personal taste is along the lines of many of the samples, he was good about incorporating more things that appeal to a variety of ages and music tastes it was a wedding, after all! As requested, he also avoided all things that fall into the category of bad wedding DJ. Finally, his rates seemed very reasonable to me and I cant imagine finding a decent band for anywhere close to what we paid. He also let us add on time the night of to extend the reception a huge plus in my book. The party was still going strong with lots of dancing at the time we had originally planned to stop and it was great to hang out and dance with our friends and loved ones as long as we liked. Overally, Id give him a 5/5 and would absolutely recommend him to a friend for their wedding.

I just had my wedding with DJ Von on 9/5/15 and I can't say this enough, he was the absolute best wedding DJ ever. Our number one goal for our reception was to get everyone on the dance floor and keep them there and DJ Von did just that. He knows how to read the crowd and play the right music at the right time. His MC-ing is super casual and flows incredibly well with the event. He was extremely helpful during the planning process, very responsive, and made the entire experience so easy. His music selection was perfect - great mix of oldies, trendy music, and a lot of awesome remixes. I highly recommend working with him - it'll be one of the best decisions you make while planning your event or wedding.

Von was such a pleasure to work with and a very talented DJ. He was really helpful throughout the whole wedding planning process. He has a lot of experience with weddings and events and was able to provide us with some tips and guidelines to make sure things ran smoothly. I would even say he was more helpful than our wedding planner!! We were planning our wedding from New York, so you can imagine there were a lot of 'blind planning' involved. I loved that Von really wanted to get to know both my husband and I to really understand both of our musical tastes - because it's very different!! lol With differing music tastes, I was worried it wouldn't flow very well together, but he made everything work and even offered suggestions, which was really helpful. We had our ceremony outdoors, above the cliffs, and I was really worried about the sound quality. I cannot emphasize enough how much Von put my mind at ease when he found out all the details from the venue to make sure the music would be loud enough for everyone to hear. He is also very knowledgable about mics and speakers and such and I did not have to worry about any of it. When the day came, everything was perfect and all our guests loved the music!! :) He also knows how to read the crowd, and everyone had a really good time dancing at the party - even my Mum and Dad got on the dance floor! Thank you Von for all your help and for helping us make our big day wonderful!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken years of classes in radio broadcasting, MIDI, fundamentals of sound, music theory, audio engineering, production, keyboards, Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic, Reason, and many other related subjects. Although I am not currently spending time in a classroom, I'm constantly keeping myself up to date on gear and music. It's my hobby and my passion.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It chose me. I've done it as a hobby for most of my life. I had the fortune of working in the nightlife industry in San Francisco at an early age, and made lots of contacts who would later hire me as a DJ. Before I knew it I was overwhelmed with gigs, and was able to quit my day job to pursue this full time.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Private events, a fair amount of which require eclectic music.
