Introduction: Hi, my name is Peter and I am a massage therapist. I do mobile massage and I specialize in neuromuscular massage as a non-pharmaceutical approach to pain management. I have been told over the years that I was good at finding and working out trigger points (knots), but going to school for it allowed me to refine those skills by learning about the specific muscles that affect areas of our bodies that seem unrelated to the main issues. On a less clinical, but more holistic side, I have experience with energy work even prior to being certified as a level 1 Reiki practitioner. Reiki was something that I wanted to include for those who are sensitive to energy and need help clearing stuff out. In both the technical and holistic aspects of my work, I like to incorporate breath for clients to help facilitate their own healing. I like to keep these two aspects separate because not everyone believes in energy, but approaching with all aspects in mind, the technical and esoteric sciences and everything in between, I can create a space for an individual where they can at least let go and relax.

It was incredibly convenient to have someone come to my home for a massage. Peter was punctual, incredibly professional, made sure I was responding well to the pressure, and made sure he addressed my problem areas. This service was well worth the money, and I will be a long time customer because of my experience.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I ask what sort of accommodations a client might need, like if there is a current injury to avoid, but even with new injuries I can provide lymphatic facilitation to help with the swelling. If there are any past injuries I can work with increasing mobility the muscles control. Lastly I ask clients what specific areas of their body they feel need work at the moment. I may provide a possible explanation of what might help alleviate pain they may get from every day activities.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a certified massage therapist with continuing education in a Neuromuscular program (a more clinical aspect, backed with research and experience of instructors who work with medical professionals). I have a background in biology, I was training to become a biology teacher so my work with the physiology and anatomy aspects of massage therapy, I passed the biology CSET, a state exam, as part of the process to become a teacher.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find a massage therapist to develop a relationship with because over time, we learn what works or doesn’t work for the individual.
