First Mother Nature cleaned a throw rug non-toxically for me. It came out perfect. Then they cleaned 700 sq ft of tile flooring with grout. That too, came out perfectly. I am sensitive to chemicals and I am most grateful that they use all natural products. Hooray for them (and hooray for all of us)!

We needed a house cleaning service for my elderly mother-in-law's house. It was a big job so we requested a deep cleaning. Stephani and Thiago were wonderful. They showed up right on time, bringing all of their supplies including a vacuum cleaner along with them. I told them that my priorities were the kitchen and bathroom, including cleaning the inside of the refrigerator. They worked hard and did an outstanding job. The house hasn't been this clean in many years. We will definitely use them the next time and we would highly recommend them to anyone who wants great service at a reasonable rate.

Liseth and Nilda did a great job deep cleaned our apartment. Bathroom wall tiles and floor were sanitize and whiten. I was expecting a bit more like cleaning the walls and toilet tank which wasnt done. I guess not enough time. Kitchen part, the stove inside and out were scrubbed and cleaned. Outside refrigerator, cabinets's door were wiped except the inside drawers and cabinets. Again, they're running out of time. Kitchen floor were scrubbed, sanitized and mopped. Last part was the living room. It was vacuumed and dust a few appliances. Lot of work. Good job ladies!! Not bad at all! I will hire Liseth again.

Two cleaners came to clean my one-bedroom apartment and did a fantastic job in the two hours they were here. The cleaning was very thorough, carefully dusting the shelves of our bookshelves in addition to cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, and vacuuming everywhere. I was very impressed, and have already scheduled a second cleaning next month! They arrived early, and I wasn't home yet, so they waited and through some miscommunication ended up being a bit late. However, that was probably mostly my fault (and parking here sucks, so that didn't help) and they didn't shorten the amount of time spent on the cleaning. Our apartment complex is tricky to get into, and they did a much better job than most people I've had previously. Ana was great about communicating with me about it the whole time too.

Pros: Jasper was prompt in responding, punctual, friendly, and completed the work quickly. I was impressed that he finished this project in one day; whereas other contractors seemed to indicate it was more work and more difficult. I would hire him again. Some areas he can improve: There were a couple of minor areas that were knicked on our kitchen island that I didn't notice until cleaning up. Also, I think he could have done a little better cleaning up the island- wiping down the cabinet fronts that had a light layer of dust (I did this myself). Finally, I gave him a box of stain & top coat that the previous owners left to us. He applied them but I noticed they didn't leave the counter shiny, like the finish we had before he sanded. After Jasper left, my husband realized we were missing the water sealant coat which we had in the garage. So now we are applying this coat ourselves to make the island water- proof and give it the same shine. This isn't totally Jasper's fault since I gave him the supplies but I would have liked if he would have noted that something seemed to be missing or off (or given his recommendations on what he would have stained/sealed it with to make sure the wood stayed water proof.) Overall, I'm happy with the work.

Par Madero Cleaning has a highly energetic professional team of cleaners who came to help me with spring cleaning my home. They came over and literally attacked the dirt in my house. I was amazed by the depth of their cleaning. I honestly have never seen my kitchen so clean as when they finished cleaning it for me and it is still sparkling. The rest of the house was taken from it's grimy state to a bright and clean one. They have the skills, knowledge and the energy needed to get EVERY thing clean. They came over and gave me a very reasonably even low quote for the cleaning and began the job the next night. They have top of the line equipment and use green cleaning products but used some EasyOff for the oven that I requested. I highly recommend these talented and efficient cleaning team.

Karina was awesome! She did a great job cleaning our bathroom, kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. She was even able to get some stains off of the carpet. Great value and would definitely hire again. She was also really responsive in our communications before the hire, which I really appreciated. English isn’t her first language, so a little bit of back and forth was necessary, but Karina really makes sure she does a professional quality job. Thanks Karina!

Renys was highly professional and thorough...she works hard and has attention to detail..she left my bathroom sparkling clean and was able to get the studio cleaned while I did my own work..I didn't even feel like I had an oursider in my home because she just focussed on her work. She decided to get her higher power vaccum from her car during the cleaning to ensure cleaning was done in the best way possible for the carpeted area of my home...definitely recommend Renys and will hire her again..thank you Renys.

Jose is an extremely capable, honest and integral contractor. I was very apprehensive in the beginning as he had only a few reviews on Thumbtack but went ahead with him as he was very responsive and seemed knowledgeable. After we saw his work in our home in kitchen/ bathroom upgrades, we couldn't have been happier. He is very diligent, sincere and never cuts the corner. He did not hesitate in going an extra mile to make sure our job was done to the best quality. Besides, Jose is very nice and personable and we really had a great time working with him. We are very impressed and delighted to find him and will always go back to him for any future work. We already signed up for a couple of additional pieces of work with him. Thank you Jose for the wonderful work!

They did a great job. Very meticulous in cleaning off surfaces that we didn't even ask them to in the kitchen and on the window sills. Knew exactly what to do without much direction from us like cleaning out gunky stuff from the bathroom tile grout. Left the mirrors streak-free clean, and vacuumed up any dust that fell from cleaning other surfaces.

Angel really came through for my clients. I'm a real estate agent and I have two listings that were in need of updating their bathroom showers, tub and one countertop. Angel updated all three bathrooms and kitchen countertop in one day. He came through for my company. He will be the first person I call whenever I need tile grout updating. I'm 100% satisfied by price and his work. Angel was easy going and focused on me being satisfied by his work. Thanks again Angel!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
