I found W Design Living through internet search. Pictures shown on its website of past works attracted me. It’s simply beautiful! After a few phone calls with Wei, the designer, and a face-to-face meeting, I wrote the down-payment check, and it’s one of the best decisions I made in my life. Now that the design work is done, my house shines through the furniture and decor. What’s amazing is that the furniture/decor look as if they are part of the house, as if they are born together. My friends who visited are jealous. They don’t believe that I could have such good taste. "It must be the work of a great designer you hired, right?". Yes, indeed, it is true! - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?For customer's convenience, I offer flat rate per room based on project scope. I will let you know ahead of project how much the designer fee costs after an initial consultation. I am also flexible to provide design services on hourly basis as needed. I keep my pricing simple and transparent. I do not charge retainer fees or designer markups. I'm not incentivized by any furniture vendors so I will not try to up-sell. I find retail discounts for you whenever possible and will track budget on a shared document with you.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We first meet for initial visit where we will get to know each other. We will discuss your needs, style and budget, and our process. After the visit, I will provide you quote estimate for your project based on the scope of work. By sending me your inspiration photos, we can be aligned on the aesthetics. I will provide you with design concepts and layout ideas, make any revisions and once you approve, I guide you through sourcing process to order materials and furnishings. To keep us stay on your budget with orders, I will share cost tracking spreadsheet with you. After all of the furnishings have arrived, I will put together the room and add finishing touches to make your vision of the room into reality. I will do a final walk-through and take care of any remaining items before we conclude the project.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started out of passion in interior design and experience renovating, designing and decorating 3 of my own homes over the last 10 years with growing family. Friends have always commented on how nice the designs and results were and so I decided to pursue my long-time interest leaving behind a corporate management career at a big tech firm. Still being a problem solver, I now enjoy different sets of challenges where my creativity combine with eye for design is to help make people's lives better by sharing and doing what I love. I have a bachelor degree in business and computer and am currently working towards a certification in interior design.
