I had a water leak issue that was coming through my downstairs ceiling. Issue was due to a backed up shower drain line. Found Vyron on Thumbtack and he contacted that evening to set a time to come by an assess the job. I also needed base Board for the downstairs as well as reinstalling tile in 4 spots from a previous radiant floor heating leak. Vyron was right on time. His quote was very reasonable so I hired him. The time Vyron arranged to begin my repairs was again, right on time. He immediately began his work with a crew. He unclogged the shower drain, removed the damaged drywall and reinstalled new drywall. Installed all the base board and reinstalled the tile. He quoted a time frame of 6-8 hours. He completed everything in 7 hours. He and his crew were very clean and organized. Vyron is professional and friendly. I highly recommend Vyron Salinas. Thanks Brett Larson

Barry did an excellent job! He was timely and even helped move furniture into the appropriate places before putting together our furniture. He clearly knew how to assemble the furniture and put together three pieces (plus helped put up wallpaper) from three different locations. He worked quickly as well. I highly recommend him!

Remove wallpaper. The wall didn't need texture after removing wall paper and they painted. They put on 2 coates of paint. The job itself looked good. However some wall paper was left on the floor and for what they did I think the price could of been lower. Over all I am satisfied with the work they did.

Eric works hard to get the results that he knows will please the customer. I have 11 cats, well trained, but they occasionally have hair balls. Therefore, Eric was able to remove those stains. He does remarkable job!

Brian worked on the tasks below and more to help prepare our client's home for sale. Our handyman was overbooked and we searched on porch for an equally talented professional who could assist our client. We were very fortunate to find Brian who surpassed our expectations and went above and beyond for our client. She has heated floors in her master bathroom that she could not get working with the help of an electrician or her previous handyman. We were ready to give up when Brian worked his magic and was able to fix it. Our client e-mailed us a stellar review of Brian and noted "I have found Brian to be very knowledgeable in all areas. He is a honest caring person, a resource for brainstorming and takes great pride in his client’s satisfaction." - remove/replace/add smoke carbon detectors - add safety clip to fireplaces - seal gas line in fireplaces - tighten loose toilets - tighten loose faucets in bathrooms - remove/replace hinges leading to garage to self closing - remove/replace bottom door seal leading to garage - remove/replace broken door bell on front gate - repair loose metal gate guard on front gate - replace bathroom window screening - remove/replace broken dryer vent on front side of home - add water heater bonding cable to hot/cold lines - install drip leg to gas water heater - Kin Blumenfeld / Heritage Properties

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:

  • Foyer: 36-120 square feet, $21.60-$180.
  • Powder room: 16-36 square feet, $9.60-$54.
  • Living or dining room: 120-252 square feet, $72-$378.
  • Family room: 192-384 square feet, $115.20-$576.
  • Bedroom: 100-224 square feet, $60-$336.
  • Guest bath: 45-84 square feet, $27-$126.
  • Master bedroom: 168-384 square feet, $100.80-$576.
  • Master bath: 54-160 square feet, $32.40-$240.

Once the old wallpaper is gone, the average cost to install new wallpaper is $240-$350.
