"Andrey gives a very intuitive, firm, caring massage. As a fellow massage therapist who is looking for someone to work out my kinks, he did a fabulous job! I have already used him a second time, requesting that he focus on certain things, and he did that and more. I would highly recommend him!"

"Service was top notch. Very soothing n relaxing. Her rates are pretty reasonable. She walked me through each step and explained the type of massage she was doing n its benefits. I would guess approx 10 different massage teqniques she used on me, carefully explaining in detail. Awesome service !!"

"If there were a sixth star, I would award it to Osbaldo. This is a bit of a late review as the project was completed prior to Thanksgiving 2014. We had carpeting, tile, and baseboard removed. New tile was laid in the kitchen and half bath. Hardwood flooring and 5 1/4" baseboard were installed in the family room. Moreover, a custom hearth, mantel, and stone facade were added to the fireplace. The result was excellent and we are still pleased with the craftsmanship. We will be hiring Osbaldo again for additional projects. "

"This is my first pregnancy. I am 30 weeks and huge lol, I was having extremely bad siatica and swollen legs . So my friend referred me too Winston's healing hands massage therapy, honestly the best massage I have ever had . The environment was serene and peaceful , the massage was 90 minute prenatal massage!! Come on 90 minutes can I say more , and since I was a new client I received $20 off my massage what a deal !! He was professional and attentive and I will definitely be going back to him again . It's the best treat I've done for myself and will go back again . "

"Over the years, I've visited many many massage therapists. Although I've had numerous good (and bad) experiences, I never settled on one therapist. Happily that has changed. David gives a nice smooth massage and transitions easily from one part of the body to the next. I prefer an intense massage but not a sports massage. Although the massage is intense, I don't feel beaten up afterwards. Something I hadn't experienced were the body heating pads. They were a plus and very comforting. I've been to him twice and always walk out feeling refreshed. I will continue to see him on a monthly basis. "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
