Houman, you are amazing. People love our new restaurant. Look at our yelp reviews for the proof 😊. They can't stop praising about our restaurant interiors on all the social networking sites. Houman went above and beyond in helping us open our modern fast casual restaurant. Our budget did not allow for us to afford an interior designer. Houman stepped in as an interior designer along with the construction of our interiors. His ideas and execution were amazing. We couldnt have done the design so well without him. We had a tight deadline and Houman is the type of a contractor that wont mind working long nights and weekends. He worked around the clock to get us to opening day. The day before opening, late night we had a plumbing issue. Houman went out of his way, and came late nigjt to fix our plumbing issue! Thanks a lot Houman! We are thankful! Houman is very organized, professional and courteous on site. If you are looking for a trustable contractor I highly recomend him! From his Proposal paper work till the finishing touches, everything Houman did for us is Extraordinary! We will work around his schedule for our next restaurant opening

After owning my home for about 35 - it was time for a major overhaul. I also wanted to add an addition over my garage that included a new bedroom and to move a bathroom and laundry space that was in the original first floor so I could re-do the first floor as a completely open plan space. I was fortunate to find Debby and Creative Spaces Interior Design to work with me on this extensive (and often exhausting) project. Debby oversaw and project managed the entire renovation and addition and was involved in every detail. Her great taste, organizational skills and financial management throughout an 18 month project were invaluable to the final results and to the level of satisfaction that I have with my "new" home. She was not only a terrific partner with wonderful taste but was critical in finding the contractor, custom furniture makers, and other artisans that were needed to get this done. I would recommend Debby to anyone needing similar work done. She was not only consistantly fun, tasteful and a put joy to work with but I believe we will remain friend long after I have resettled back in my home.

I've worked with Cynthia on several successful projects, where she designed and selected beautiful materials taking in consideration the clients' requirements and design preferences. I acted as the general contractor, while she helped our clients understand basic design philosophy and color coordination. We've worked on various remodel projects, including kitchen and bathroom remodels, flooring, painting and interior accessories. It's been a pleasure to work with Cynthia to bring ideas into tangible results for our clients. She's very attentive, caring and delivers on her promises. I would highly recommend her and Madison Design for your various projects.

This is long overdue but Gina was excellent from beginning to the end. She came to my house and listened to what we wanted to accomplish, took measurements, pictures, and came back with ideas and suggestions. She traveled to furniture store, hardwood store, tile store, and picked out all the paint colors without hesitation. She was very helpful and friendly knows what she's doing in terms of color coordination and decor. I would highly recommend Gina to anyone who's planning to redesign the interior. The before and after look of our family, dining, living, and entry rooms are night and day. We are so happy to have found Gina as our interior designer.

Sandi has been great with helping us plan our living room remodel. She came to our house to take pictures and then created visual designs to help us see her ideas for our room. She has also provided references to general contractors as well as electricians for our lighting needs. We went with one of her referrals to install recessed LED lights for our hallway and bedrooms. She helped us set up the appointment, arranged the pricing, and then followed up to see if we were satisfied with the work. Although we still haven't moved forward with our living room remodel yet, she is continuing to work with us to make this room happen. Sandi is friendly, professional, and talented - we highly recommend working with Sandi for your interior design needs.

Having been in the mortgage business for years, I had many agents to choose from when it came time to list my home. There was no question that I would hire Robyn. She has always stood out to us as the total package. She brings professionalism, unparalleled market knowledge and first class service to every client. It’s something we had seen with her and knew we would get to experience as well. The extra bonus you get with Robyn is that she is an interior designer – that meant getting our house to look absolutely stunning which translated to a very high sale price. It also meant helping us see the bigger picture and potential when we were shopping for our next home. We did extremely well on the purchase and sale of our homes, but we also gained a friend.

I discovered Thomas, four months ago, after three years of online searching for a local interior designer. Something about his website spoke to me. We made contact and haven't looked back!! In the past four months he has designed three bedrooms, my kitchen and courtyard. He also provided onsite help for the installation of a garden area, plumbing and electrical repairs. We have become fast friends and I don't know what I ever did before him! Thomas is not only a talented designer but he is a wonderful person. If you are looking for help with your home, look no further!! THIS is your man!!

We were in the middle of a major kitchen and bathroom remodel as well as replacing flooring in the entire house. In addition, we were transforming our previous game room into a living/dining room area. I had some idea of what I was looking to do, but needed the expertise of a professional designer to help. I started looking online and came across Thumbtack. After putting in my information, I received quick feedback from three designers in my area. After looking at their websites and reading about their experience, we decided to go with Bonnie. She was a life saver! She gave us so many ideas on how to make the most of our spaces. She is knowledgeable in all areas of design and we were able to move forward with just a few hours of her help. Her fee is very reasonable and she is quick to respond to emails, phone calls and text messages. She was never put off by my continual questions or need for confirmation of furniture or door selections. I will be utilizing her services again shortly to finalize the finishing touches on our home. We couldn't be happier with the results.

Michelle is a master at what she does! She completely changed the look and feel of our bedroom in a matter of days! Jigsaw took a basic boring bedroom and turned it into a blissful oasis! After seeing her work we decided to take the renovation a bit further and let her work her magic on the rest of the house......The outcome was more amazing than we imagined it could be! Michelle took her time and walked us through each step to keep us informed and involved throughout the process. The personal attention she gives each and every detail is phenomenal. Jigsaw is also affordably priced so you don't have to worry about going into debt to update your home. Thank you Michelle and the Jigsaw Design Team for making our house a Home!

What can I say! I Hired Staged and Sold. First you actually get an interior designer who designs the space. They don’t just throw things into the home. They plan it out based on the layout and color schemes that attract buyers. They were on time and took 2 hours to stage! I had offers right after we had photos and they helped get my home sold!

Nicole picked out paint colors for my entire house. She coordinated bids with her contractors and we ended up saving nearly %60 by using her vendors and contractors. Her painters were clean and organized and delivered an affordable and exceptional finished product. Nicole came back and redesigned our art work layout- now the house looks better then ever! I was very impressed with her professionalism (I finally found her after another person I tried to hire on Thumbtack totally flaked). I am so happy I found Nicole! She has great contractors and her window covering contacts where the best value I found.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

    • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
    • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
      • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
    • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
      • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
    • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
    • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

    • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
    • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
    • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
    • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
