Mr. N. says, "FIRST OFF, LET ME START BY SAYING IF I COULD GIVE THESE GUYS OVER 5 STARS, I ABSOLUTELY AND MOST DEFINITELY WOULD....MORE LIKE 15 TO 20 STARS EASILY!! I searched and searched and searched for weeks trying to find a tree trimming service that not only would be able to come out in a timely manner, but also wouldn't try and rob me blindly for my money! Finally, when I was just about to give up and I was going to go with some guys who were going to do only four of my 10 trees for a total of $400 which included taking the trash and trimmings as well, I stumbled across Cesar and his guys...it was a good thing I did too! Not only were Cesar and his guys willing to come out within a day or two tops, but they charged me an amazing price for nine palm trees, as well as one regular tree too. Everybody else was trying to charge me at minimum, $80 per palm tree, for a total of at least $1,000, and none of them even included picking up all of the trash and trimmings when they were done! However, Cesar and his crew did all nine of my palm trees, and my one other tree, as well as two baby palm trees, and some shrubbery, for a total of 12 trees, and some other stuff as well, at an absolutely ridiculous low price! Wayyyy below what everyone else was charging!!! Not only that, but they also took all of the trash, tree trimmings, shrubbery, and pretty much everything else, with them too!!! They also even used their air blower on my whole property, and made sure everything was cleaned up the right way and well! Again, it was a good thing I found Cesar and his guys when I did.....I can't say thank you enough for all of your help and hard work Cesar. I also really appreciate the fact that you guys didn't try to rob me like everybody else, for only doing a half ass job too. You guys have definitely earned my business for good, and you will be also hearing from a lot of different people I send your way...thanks again so much, and remember....referrals are definitely coming your way!!!! Stay safe and keep up the good work!"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does demolition cost?

Demolition services cost $800, on average, with a cost range between $644 and $1,000. Demolishing your kitchen or bathroom may cost around $1,000 or more, depending on its size and the amount of work involved. However, demolishing a house can cost up to $30,000 (or more).

Contacting contractors is the best way to find out how much demolitions services cost in your area. That's because there are several factors that play into the total cost. The first is the size of your house, property or structure. Smaller homes that can be demolished with a single excavator will cost less than larger homes that may require more equipment and personnel, as well as more waste disposal fees. Also, labor rates will vary depending on your region.

How much does it cost to demolish and clear a house?

On average, it costs between $3,000 and $35,000 to demolish an entire house. Demolition also involves a number of factors that will influence the cost. House demolition pros will factor in the location of the demolition site, as well as whether they’re partially or completely tearing down the structure. They will also charge for outbuildings that need to be demolished, as well as dump fees for disposing of the waste.

What's the difference between demolition and excavation?

Demolition is the act of tearing down a structure, like a house or building. It has its own name because the process itself is a skilled trade. Demolition crews must know how to safely and effectively bulldoze or tear a house down, how to handle different materials and occasionally even how to salvage certain materials from the house.

Excavation is the use of excavators to perform manual work like digging, trenching and tunneling. It also often involves surviving the ground, removing topsoil and clearing rocky surfaces.

Who do I hire to get my home or property demolished?

If you choose to have your house torn down by machinery, you will need to hire a demolition contractor or company. These jobs require the use of heavy machinery like excavators, wrecking balls, bulldozers and more. The waste will then be scooped up and placed in dumpsters, which are hauled away by trucks. Another type of demolition is done by hand, and this service can leave you with salvageable parts to reuse in another home.

Search for demolition professionals on Thumbtack, and make your decision based on their customer ratings, reviews, project photos and cost estimates.

How long does it take to tear down a house?

This depends mostly on the size of the house and the complexity of operating on the worksite. Generally, you can expect a house teardown to take between one and several days. When you’re discussing your demolition project with potential local contractors, also ask them how long the project will take.

How hard is demolition work?

If you’re not a professional, demolition work can be difficult, taxing and strenuous — not to mention dangerous, particularly when extensive precautions aren’t taken.

Demolition involves an understanding of structures and how buildings are built. This allows workers to understand the potential consequences of tampering with or removing things like walls, beams and other structures. Demolition also involves the use of heavy equipment like excavators. Dangers include falling debris, explosions, dust and other risks like collapsing ceilings and floors.
