Scott was able to come over to clean my tile floor on very short notice (one day!) as I was about to move in to my house and the tile and grout were extremely dirty. The grout was nearly black in some areas. I had just under 600 square feet of tile and Scott was able to thoroughly clean and seal it very quickly. The floor looks great! I am so pleased and will definitely have him back for maintenance to keep it looking good.

Chad and John worked very hard on a very hot day and got excellent results, They are great to work with and worked extra hard on our very tough spots from our dogs. They did a great job on our furniture as well. I appreciated Chad staying with the quote he gave me, because it seems carpet cleaners always "change' the price even though they say they won't do that! Thank You Chad, for your honesty and follow thru!

Ed and his crew cleaned the carpet, waxed floors and washed windows at our youth center. I told him I had to leave at 5pm. I was very impressed by his respect for my schedule and press to do a great job in the time available. They didn't waste any time getting started and pushing without stopping. They did a great job. Carpet is fresh and clean and barely had water left since they sucked it out. They had all the equipment needed so was great not having to worry about that. We were ready to go the next day. Thanks Ed and Team. Till next time!

Michael was very quick to start working on our small master bathroom! He did a great job and we will hire him again for other similar jobs. He helped to come up with a simple design for our floor tile and cleaned up each night. Great job!

Mike was very professional, and answered all of the questions I had. This was my first time hiring a carpet cleaning service for our house and I can honestly say it went as seamlessly as possible. He was scheduled to come out from 11am-1pm, Mike arrived pretty close to 11am. Which is awesome in my opinion, and was done by 1:30ish. Mike also gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to text him anytime I had any questions. I texted him a few different times around 10pm at night (because that's when I got off work and had time to text) and he would text back right away or first thing in the morning. I would HIGHLY recommend using Quikdry Carpet & Tile Cleaning to any of my friends.

From start to finish a great experience. His electronic communications were clear and professional. This versus another vendor who was insulting in his response and demanding as well. A telephone call to coordinate the provision of materials before coming to the house with no markup on the materials purchased are examples of working with Kevin. He is top on my list of handymen. In fact I have already contacted him regarding another project.

Raul and his partner did an outstanding job of cleaning my tile floors and restoring the grout to new. Raul came to my home to inspect the floors and explain the cleaning process. His estimate was extremely fair. He showed up on time, brought all of his own equipment and cleaning supplies, and finished on time. He couldn't have been more friendly or professional. I highly recommend him.

Giovanni was recommended by a colleague at work who told me that he was the nicest guy, professional, reasonably priced and did excellent work. I was happy to find that my colleague was absolutely correct. I hired him to clean our kitchen floor and countertop tile grout (yes, much to my dismay,I still have the 1980's tile countertops!) because we were trying to pretty up our townhouse to put it on the market. Giovanni did an excellent job for us. Our place sold in a day! The new owners are very happy with the condition of the tile (they thanked us for keeping the tile in such good condition...if they only knew how awful it looked before Giovanni cleaned it!) We have just bought a new home and will be calling Xtreme Tile and Grout Cleaning again to clean our new grout surfaces.

The process of setting up an appointment to completion was great. Kris cleaning service provides wonderful communication on availability, estimated duration and actual completion making me feel like I was always in the loop. The quality of work was fantastic, from polishing the floors and marble counters, and down to the little details that many miss. The apartment looked cleaner than it did when i moved in. I will definitely use this team in the future.

In a word i am THRILLED with the job, which far exceeded expectations. I asked Victor Rodriguez to move furniture and carefully remove realy old carpeting, tack strips, nails, etc, ftom bedrooms, living and diningrooms, bathrooms and 15 stairs, which revealed beautiful hardwood floors and tile in my mom's old beach 2 story beach house. When I expanded the job, we settled on an extremely far price. Victor is a great communicator and true professional, who made absolutely sure that I was satisfied before leaving, with every particle of debris cleaned up and hauled off. He and his helper worked without a break all day and never added for extra pay. Plus hes a super nice guy. I am beyond happy with the quality of the work. Best bargain ever.

Not only were they very professional and knowledgeable, but my carpet, tile, and chairs stayed clean longer because they used an organic natural solution so the dirt didn’t adhere as fast as it did with soap. Thank you aqua cleanse! I recommend this company to all my friends.

I was debating in getting new tile for my flooring in my kitchen or finding a way to improve the condition of my tile. I was referred by a close friend of mine to Tomastone who they helped with the restoration of the tile of his living room and also his granite in his kitchen. After showing me the results of the Final touches of the work, I was impressed and decided to have them give me a an estimate. I had other estimates already but they were the best pricing I was able to find. David came out and after two days my kitchen looked amazing! My flooring looked brand new again and I was very happy with their work and serve. Everything went as planned and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get any restoration done to their home. It beats replacing the cost of new tiles and leaves it looking like new. 5 star

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
