Brad was fantastic! When he arrived at our location, he quickly scanned the scenery, and within seconds was able to determine the most beautiful spots to shoot. He picked several places based on existing architecture, landscape and foliage. His vision was amazing! A true photographer. I was worried about all the people in the area, but he knew how to set up the shots so it looked like we were the only ones there. He was also able to direct us into poses that may have felt unnatural, but translate wonderfully to the finished photo. The results were beautiful! I'm always concerned about color and lighting - I see so many photographers get it wrong, but our photos are truly professional quality. If you want someone who strikes a nice balance between efficiency, artistry, and reasonable pricing (and who doesn't?) then I highly recommend Brad!

Nona is hands down one of the best photographers our family has ever worked with! Very professional and extremely good at what she does. We had to reschedule d/t the bipolar Houston weather and she worked well (and FAST) to get everything done, EVEN had a few pics ready in less than 24hrs!! I only wish we could've gotten the remaining photos a little sooner as a small project I was working on was delayed (and so many were so good!). To be fair, she delivered on her original ETA AND photos were done just before the holidays, so we know she was very busy. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone I know, our pictures have gotten rave reviews from family and friends!

We have had the pleasure of dealing with Joe for numerous personal as well as business photo shoots. Every personal shoot we have done has been roughly an hour and the professional shoots have varied based on requirement (event coverage). The locations are always based on our personal preference to which he has been more than happy to accommodate to. If we don’t know what we want, he’s been great about suggesting locations to obtain the best scenery and overall feel to suit our needs. Having dealt with around 5 or 6 previous photographers, I have to say that Joe is the only one that I would recommend. He was highly professional, courteous, offered extremely quick turnaround, and an end product that I have always been extremely happy with. I have to say we were impressed when he pulled out his iPad and opened a reference book to help us with different poses. He explained to us what the concept was behind each pose and which ones were more popular or common and which ones were less seen. He excels at capturing the emotion of the shoot rather than just the image itself. It becomes apparent what I mean when you see portraits that feel forced and bland, like no one wanted to be there. We always have fun during our shoots and I believe it really reflects in the end result. All summed up, I’d definitely recommend Joe Chung Photography if you ever photography services. He really goes above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction with all of the pictures he provides. He is professional, courteous, and offers a high quality product that I have always been satisfied with. If you need photography, you need a great photographer, and that’s exactly what he is.

I needed new work headshots and a family photo with my 3 dogs. This was my first time using Thumbtack and I received bids from 5 local photographers. I decided to to with John Glover because of the precision and great attention to detail I noticed in his sample photos. John's photos came out nothing short of amazing, he even captured all my dogs at attention at once. My headshots came out better than any headshots I've ever taken. Highly recommend using him.

My family and I were vacationing in Newport from out of state and chose Danielle to capture our beach fun. I had never been to the area before and didn't know any photographers much less any good spots that would work well for family photographs. After exchanging some emails a few weeks before our arrival, we set a date and location for our photos. Danielle was prompt, professional, and chose an excellent location for the photos. Our session was no easy task because I have two small children, ages 5 and 2. Combine that with water and sand and you get a recipe for disaster, but Danielle was able to somehow capture great photographs of my family. I would definitely use her again in the future.

My family and I had a great experience with Sheryl. We had a huge family photo shoot due a very meaningful reunion- with a newborn, several Oct. birthday celebrants, and a family member that has been in remission with cancer for one year to the date. I was coming from out of state and I searched online for photographers. What caught my attention and what drew me to Sheryl was her great eye and great shots from her portfolio. The colors in her pictures were vivid and creative and wanted to have memorable family photo shoot. She was very professional, easy to contact and talk with. One family member has to be careful with large crowds due to health issues, and she worked well with the space we had. She was resourceful, efficient and accommodating. And she worked well with all the kids- which were 6 in total! Overall, I highly recommend Sheryl for her professionalism, her talent, and for her thoughtfulness.

I would first like to say, I NEVER write reviews but Jami is so great I truly felt like taking the time to share this. If you're looking for an awesome professional photographer that will take amazing photos then Jami is your girl. Not only was she easy to work with, responsive, timely and all around just lovely to deal with - she took the most beautiful photos. She blends right in with the crowd as though she's one of your friends capturing special moments. I loved working with her so much, I've already hired her again for another event. This was my first time using Thumbtack and it was the best because of Jami. I wish I could give her 6 stars for everything.

ROF Industries headed up by Nicole Pittman-Staab and Chris Staab are videographers/photographers who created a wonderful presentation of an aerobatic jet flight I participated in over Southern California. They were able to set up numerous cameras, recorded the event from visually interesting angles, provided editing, musical scoring and conducted interviews with the participants in a documentary style video. The quality of the work was outstanding, ahead of schedule, and the crew at ROF are self motivated. They were always checking up on things and asking questions to make the product the best it could be for me. Everything went perfectly and better than I imagined. I'm very proud of their work and they made me feel and look like a star. They are very easy to work with, friendly and just plain nice! I am planning another doozy of a project for them next year and I wouldn't consider anyone else but them to pull it off.

Every aspect of working with Steven was a pleasure, very satisfying, and extremely satisfactory!! I was referred to Steven on short notice to perform the videography of a memorial service that was scheduled to take place on very short notice. Steven had the time available in his schedule so we proceeded, over the phone, to discuss the details of the event. Steven knew all of the questions to ask in order to be certain that every potential detail was accounted for and checked, and that there would be no chance of an accidental slip-up or a loose end. To add complexity to the event, 24 hours before the scheduled commencement of the service a family member requested that in addition to the videography would it be possible to arrange for the event to be live-streamed because there were mourners in other time zones and counties who wanted to view the service. Steven calmly and very professionally accepted the challenge, identified a resource that he thought he could work in tandem with to provide the live streaming, and secured all of the arrangements. The live streaming and the videography of the service were fully successful, including the capture of the live streaming feed. After the service Steven delivered to the family the final cut of the video with all of the post-production elements he has described and suggested would enhance the permanent value of the event recording. The family was thrilled with the quality, creativity, timeliness, and value of Steven's services. I enthusiastically recommend Steven to anyone seeking a highly talented and thoroughly professional videographer!!!

Hugh is a great guy, a real pro photographer, easy to work with, and creative at a thumbtack competitive rate. I'm a Realtor and have worked with other photographers before. Set a time to meet and he even scouted the area beforehand for multiple locations ready to shoot; and spent a lot of time with us too. Offered a proof sheet, we picked out favorite photos, and he retouched the photos and delivered with a fast turnaround. Will use him again.

Thank you Mukaila for being such a great photographer for my son's first birthday! My guests thought that the pictures turned out well. Mukaila communicated well through email with specifics of our party. He also arrived on time and was able to take pictures of all the details of our party like I wanted. He was also able to be inconspicuous when he needed to be to get all the action pictures. Turn around time for the pictures was only a week. That is a lot quicker than a lot of other photographers that I have worked with before. If we ever have another event, I would definitely get a hold of Mukaila again.

Ron was brilliant! I could have not asked for a better photographer to cover my boudoir shoot! He was absolutely phenomenal. Words could not really describe how happy I am of the outcome! I already booked another session in advance! His eye for detail is awesome! I was very comfortable and he did everything I had envisioned and even more! I highly recommend Ron to anyone needing any type of photography and especially any boudoir session! His studio is amazing! I can't wait for my next session! FYI: He will work with your schedule and always try his best to accommodate you!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
