Kendall has changed my life. Last November I was getting exercising advice, meal planning. She started me slow to not overwhelm me, and helped me modify certain stretches. She knew I was deathly afraid of Gyms. In her boot camps, she helped me also Modify the exercises for a lady over 50. Since then I have lost over 30 lbs. and feel great. Working out with Joe has changed my life. I am down nearly 40 pounds in 4 months but, more importantly, I am stronger and more fit person today thanks to Joes workouts. I have been motivated by his own stories of weight struggle and the desire to live a healthier lifestyle. Joe has been in my shoes. He understands my struggles with eating and exercise. And hes crafted a lifestyle change plan for me to help me get over my hurdles and stay on track to meet my fitness goals. He has tailored the workouts to my needs, changing it up to keep it fresh, balancing strength training with cardio exercise to maximize my results.. I have been working out with Kathy for about 8 months. I am 64 years old with an artificial hip and needed to get into better shape and increase overall strength and balance. I chose Kathy because at my age and with my issues, I knew I needed one-on-one customized training and attention by someone with real understanding of my constraints. Kathy is not a physical therapist but she comes pretty close to it. She constantly observes my reaction to an exercise and makes immediate adjustments as necessary. She keeps me moving during my session and varies the activities so they're not boring. She keeps meticulous records of the exercises, number of reps, weight, etc. I am really pleased with the improvement I made in muscle strength. It is apparent in my every day activities that I am stronger. Kathy also tries to accommodate my schedule and is flexible when I have to make changes. I highly recommend her.
Tracee does an amazing job teaching the bootcamp group exercise classes. It is very clear she spends time to plan ahead, research new ways to target different body areas, and makes sure to give us the best workout possible in the allotted time. I also appreciate how she checks in after the work out to see what we liked/ didn't like, and how to make it an even better class the next time. She is a great motivator, I love taking her classes!
When someone asks me which gym I go to train BJJ, they never expect to hear Battle Control. This gym is located off Piercy Road in the backside of Silver Creek Valley Road in a small business park next to Stryker. It's a little hard to find this gem at first, but once you find it, there's tons of parking. When I first stepped into Battle Control, I was expecting to hear a gym full of people snapping kicks and throwing punches at bags and the timer chiming in the corner. But I was very wrong. This gym is more like the living room of your home during a family party. There's people of all ages in here doing a variety of things but geared towards martial arts. You got the kids' class going on in one corner, a group of young men and women dissecting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques in another, and Dina Lara taking care of clients by the front desk. The vibe here is not like your typical gym where people go in and out and get their time in on the mats. It's more like a home full of family and friends. I go to Battle Control 2-3 times out of the week to train BJJ, and it's been the best decision I've made. I'm now 8 months into this art and I wouldn't give it up depsite moving away for college. Shoutout to Sir (which is Greg Lara) for being a coo instructor. If you have the opportunity, challenge yourself to roll with him. Or challenge him to a dance battle. Either way it will be a rewarding experience. Battle Control is many more things to offer other than BJJ classes and a great workout. The reason why I always come here is because Battle Control is a place where I can practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, meet and hangout with awesome friends and training partners, and be apart of a supportive family. We often mention at the end of each class that we all help and support each other as iron sharpens iron. This vibe from Battle Control is what I love, and I hope you find it here, too. Did a 90 program with Ray and his team. The whole process was highly organized and a great lesson on nutrition and my mind. And most important so easy! With a mixture of virtual training and in person. Reached my goal of 17% body fat from 30. Its definitely a service to use. I'm still on and will continue.
Kelly Scott has been my boot camp coach for 7 years. In that time she has brought her A game to class every single morning with a brand new, challenging workout. Max is awesome! I came to Max pretty far along with my weight loss journey, I had already lost about 150 lb and had quite a bit of muscle loss as well as loose skin. After three weeks my body fat % has gone down and I am in the best shape I have ever been! I only wish I had started sooner! Max is super easy to talk to, very knowledgeable and funny! He got me on supplements and helped me tinker with my diet until it was were it needed to be. He also got me signed up with various fitness apps that track food, fitness, progress etc. He keeps the workouts exciting and changes it up every time which is awesome because that's exactly why the gym can get boring on your own. Not to mention he helps you stretch out at the end which is very much needed for sore muscles! Hands down one of the best investments I have ever made.
Working with Chris has been a great experience. He is totally professional and prepared to work hard every session. He brings really positive energy to our sessions. Chris is creative in the workouts that he develops for me, and the entire program has been personalized based on my fitness level and body type. Most importantly, I'm seeing really good results already in terms of weight loss, endurance and strength. I'd highly recommend Chris to anyone interested in a fantastic fitness trainer.
Jessica is just fantastic. I am clueless when it comes to workouts and meal prepping, but her knowledge, creativity and motivation made me feel like a pro in no time. She is very accommodating, but also very disciplined to make sure you get on track quickly! She even trains outdoors with her own equipment, so there is never an excuse to miss that killer workout. I'm so excited for her upcoming access to an indoor facility so that she can add even more variety to her workouts! I strongly recommend this trainer! You will not be disappointed!!
