We cannot speak highly enough of Peter and want to give a HUGE recommendation on his behalf to anyone looking for a realtor! Peter is patient, hard working, honest, dedicated, and organized. We took months to find our first home, and Peter was there every step of the way offering encouragement and staying positive on our behalf even when we felt like the right place would never come along. He was extremely professional and was quick to set up showings, eager to get us into places even if it was just to see what we DIDN’T like. He was consistent with his communication and we received updates daily during the searching phase, as well as nearly instant replies to any questions we had or properties we wanted more information on. When Peter sent us the listing for the home we ended up purchasing, he hit it out of the park. It seemed like we were moving in the next day because the rest happened so fast, due in no small part to Peter’s hard work on our behalf. He had everything scheduled within a few days of our offer being excepted and basically held our hand through the next couple of weeks of inspections and escrow meetings. At the end of it all, he made us wonder why other people have always said buying a house was a nightmare... Peter goes above and beyond to make the process straightforward and as fast as possible. He is genuine and wants you to find exactly what you are looking for, and will work as hard or harder than you do to find it. We never felt pressured to settle, or felt like he was trying to sell us on something we knew we wouldn’t end up liking. He kept us updated at every turn and even handed us the keys with a new shower head after he noticed the one in the house was leaking. Like I said, above and beyond. Peter was truly a blessing to us!!!

Working with Sara was a real pleasure. As first time home buyers, we didn't know much about the whole process of buying a home and were constantly bombarding her with questions. She was patient and supportive through the whole process, from evaluating neighborhoods, to showing us many properties, to the negotiation process, inspections, and all the factors that go into closing escrow and finally getting the keys! From the beginning we knew we were working with an agent that was a level above everyone we had met in the real estate industry. Robyn takes your real estate purchase seriously, and instead of rushing you into a sale, she is focused on your financial future. She listened carefully to our needs and was very communicative and reliable. We also love that she is an interior designer who called her model “Design To Sell”. She came to the home we wanted to sell and assessed the baseline value. She recommend specific improvements and as we have accepted her recommendations she started the process to schedule of those improvements and design selections. She had a roster of reliable and affordable tradesmen, and because they were used to working with her they give us the best pricing. When the improvements were completed in only few weeks, she staged the home like a model home and we were sorry we didn't engage her sooner to help us with the home design and decorations. Her staging helped us to receive multiple offers on the home we sold. Since we have liked her design ideas we have engaged het to help us design and decorate our new home as well and we love it. Hector indeed help me acquire my dream home after spending 3 months of searching and changing my search criteria, I finally found my dream home. Not only did I get the house at a great price, but it was in a great location. I was very pleased with his professional services. I also enjoyed that despite calling late he would respond and assist. He was never rude and made an effort to work around my schedule. He was very resourceful and would provide with daily information especially with my situation to prepare for my move at a short noticed. One of the best agents I have ever worked with!!! DJ helped me get in touch with the perfect lender to assist my mom with refinancing her home. My mother seen a major increase in her mortgage payment and screamed for help. DJ provided us with some of the best Direct Lenders in the real estates business and we were able to get my mothers mortgage payment down from $2,300 to $1,400!!! In addition to that, my brother moved from the state of Florida to California and wanted to buy a condo! He found my brother a condo I a matter of 6 days. And then....AND THEN..we closed in 15 days! You cannot find more honest, dedicated and attentive realtors, ANYWHERE!!! These folks are the top of the tops…better than any other realtors I’ve ever dealt with. If anyone–my friends and/or visitors alike–stumble, find, follow this page and you’re considering anything related to the housing industry (buy, sell, shortsale), do not hesitate to use these people. I did and I will never use another realtor until they retire. In addition, for those that don’t know, I am a retired police officer and I value integrity and honesty above all. This may seem or appear to be overly gloating of these folks; however, it’s all heart-felt and true. You need realtors…look no further!!!

Team Tackney devoted a lot of their time with us during our purchase and sale of our home. They are truly "The Experts" as realtors in our area. They are highly involved with our community and are extremely knowledgeable with their work. They have an awesome team that is readily available. What does a real estate agent do?

Real estate agents help their clients buy, sell, and rent commercial and residential properties. There are also real estate agents that sell industrial and agricultural real estate, but the majority sell residential properties. To become a real estate agent, you must be at least 18 years old, successfully complete real estate courses, and pass a real estate exam. Be sure to check for any required licensing, too. Often real estate agents will earn 5 percent to 6 percent of the total home sale price for their work in representing their client. Typically this commission is split equally between the buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent. Here is an overview of what a real estate agent does, according to the United States Department of Labor:

What should you look for in a real estate agent?

When you’re hiring a real estate agent you want to find a qualified pro who can negotiate the best deal for your home — whether you’re buying or selling. Reading reviews will help you weed out obvious bad operators; you want to work with someone who treats their clients with fairness and respect. That said, you also want someone who can play hardball and maximize your real estate deal. Ask for references from recent clients, and be sure to call them.

Experts encourage you to interview more than one prospective real estate agent before hiring. A home sale or home purchase is a big deal — sometimes the biggest deal in a person’s life — and you want to find an agent who will work hard for you. In today’s market, having a real estate agent who is social media savvy and has an attractive online presence is critical. Ask the agent how they plan to market your house. Review their listings, and ask yourself if they have professional photos with homes that are professionally staged. If the answer is no, they might not have the marketing savvy you’re looking for. Ask what price they would list your house at and why. Pay attention to how they communicate with you during your initial interviewing phase. Are they too busy to respond for several days? Are they clear and helpful? This information is a clue to how they’ll engage during the entire process.

What's the difference between a real estate broker and an agent?

Real estate agents and real estate brokers both help clients buy, sell, and rent residential and commercial properties. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, real estate brokers are licensed to manage their own real estate businesses. Real estate agents cannot have their own real estate office and must work under a broker. Real estate brokers often have real estate firms and employ real estate agents. Those real estate agents may be employees of the firm, or they may work on contract and earn part of any commission they bring into the firm.

If you are a homeowner ready to sell or a buyer in the market for a new home, either a real estate broker or a real estate agent can help you achieve your goal. What is more important than their title is their track record and client success stories. When interviewing real estate agents or brokers to help you buy or sell a home, ask about their recent sales history as compared with the original listing prices. If you’re selling a home, ask how they would market your home and what price they would list it at. Whether you hire an agent or broker, you want a professional who will have your best interests at heart.

What do real estate agents charge?

Real estate agents typically don’t charge a set rate to their clients, but rather earn a commission on the price of the final home sale. In traditional real estate, there is a buyer’s agent and a seller’s agent. The two agents receive 5 percent to 6 percent of the final home sale price and split it evenly, meaning they each earn roughly 2.5 percent to 3 percent of the total home sale. If you are a home seller, you may have fees associated with the sale that are above and beyond the commission the agents earn. The real estate agent may have you pay marketing fees, MLS fees, early cancellation fees, or more. Always ask pricing details before signing a contract so you clearly understand your financial obligations. Here are some of the average (and common) costs that can arise when selling a home:

  • Home inspection: $200-$350 or more, depending on region.
  • Home appraisal: $250-$400 or more, depending on region.
  • Professional real estate photography: $275-$550 or more, depending on photographer, square footage of house, and special requests like sunset shots.
  • Closing costs: Often split between the seller and buyer. An average range for the buyer to pay is between 3 percent and 4 percent, with the seller paying a lower fee at 1 percent to 3 percent of the home’s price.
