About this pro
Excellent tutor, reliable and responsive. Highly recommendAug 31, 2017Verified
George did a great job refreshing my memory and helping me with some new concepts in my college algebra class.Aug 9, 2017Verified
George is excellent and a very polite young man. He really put the wind back in my daughter's sails for math My daughter thought she didn't understand Algebra 2, and had given up. George is graduating from UCSD in engineering; so he knows math; he "gets math." He quickly realized my daughter that she "got math" too. By the end of the first session, my daughter's confidence was really boosted. Listening to George's back story is similar to so many other kids: he used to not thin he "got math," but learned how to focus, slow down and concentrate. I highly recommend George as a tutor.Apr 29, 2017Verified
He was not only excellent but great at teaching my daughter concepts she needed. I would highly recommend him.Nov 2, 2016Verified
George is an awesome tutor. I have one child in grade 12 and one in grade 8. He has been working with both of them with math and physics. They look forward to having him come over, and are grateful for his help. He is patient, understanding and encouraging. He is available when needed and we have come to depend on him especially before tests. I could not recommend George more highly.Oct 26, 2016Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? The quote includes cost of tutoring per hour, from when the session begins to when we end the session. I do not charge for drive time or gas to and from the meeting location!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? My first session begins with evaluating the students position and setting goals that they would like to reach by the end of the session along with any long term goals they have. I make sure that we communicate clearly and agree to a lesson plan. This includes working on the homework together, performing exercises from a teacher or book, preparing for an exam, or simply focusing on topics that are weaknesses. The most important aspect during the first session is to be clear and make sure that the tutee is comfortable and learning. Cutting out any confusion between the tutor and tutee is the foundation for an optimal learning environment.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been tutoring since the summer of 2009. Since then I have taken more math, physics, and other sciences than ever. Currently I am studying mechanical engineering and have completed all of my math and physics requirements. I have completed Calculus 1, 2, and 3 as well as Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Vector Calculus. In the field of physics I have completed mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and thermodynamics. I am currently taking upper division engineering classes that require mastery in the fields of math and physics.
