FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I built my first two homes while working as an an investigator running my private firm and decided I needed to get back to "playing in the mud" and creating artistic spaces with my hands and changed courses. I woke on on new years, left my day job and never looked back!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
There have been many jobs I have been great, but working for the Ronald Reagan house in Sacramento, CA was very fun. The home is owned by a lovely woman named Susan Savage who showed me around the governors mansion which was a great educational experience in and of itself. Her request was for us to create a large dining space using a fireplace and seating area as the main bone. We had to match the surrounding English style garden and give the space the appearance that it had been transported from Europe and dropped in her back yard. We were able to pull it off and after using buttermilk and other aging techniques, the space appears as though it is 100 years old and fits beautiful in her english garden. - What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for a contractor who understands function and flow of living space design and also has a keen awareness of architecture and how to create a space that blends with it's surroundings.
