Introduction: (Located in Nevada County California for in person lessons) Hi, my name is Gabriel and I teach guitar clawhammer banjo, mandolin, and ukulele! I work with my students needs, and help them find their own voice on the instrument. Creativity and fun is highly encouraged!! That’s why we call it “playing guitar” and not “ working guitar” I teach all levels styles ranging from fingerpicking, Travis picking (folk Americana classical) chicken pickin (country), flat picking (bluegrass) economy picking(fusion jazz) , alternative , sweep picking and most styles of guitar. I’ve been playing music for 20 years, and have been performing for 7. I’ve studied music theory at sierra college for 2 years. I played with the band Brotherly Mud for 3 years who are now a Sammy Award winning group, and Grammy award winning artist Billy Bensing. I find my students needs and work with them! Whether it be theory, songwriting, technique or improvising. My guitar and mandolin influences range from: -David Grisman -Billy Strings -Doc Watson -John Fahey -Tony Rice -Brent Mason -Jerry Garcia -John scofield -Hendrix -Tosin Abasi -Marty Friedman -Dimebag Darrell -kirk Hammet -SRV -Danny Gatton -Johnny highland -Joe Pass -Bird So forth and so on. Sign up with me, and let’s rock out !!🤘🏼🎸🔥

Guitar Lessons

Gabe teaches our 9 year old guitar and he’s wonderfully patient and kind. He’s helping build his confidence with lots of encouragement and he really listens to him and takes the time to teach him in a way he’s receptive to. Our son absolutely loves his guitar lessons.

Guitar Lessons

I am an older person with some music background but want to learn guitar beyond open chords. I was very comfortable with Gabe who sensed just where I was with my knowledge of the guitar. He got me started toward a more complete chord vocabulary and he gave me interesting homework. I'm anxiously looking forward to my next lesson.

Guitar Lessons

Gabe is a great guitar teacher! I've been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years and found it difficult to stay on track as an adult learner with a busy schedule. He's patient, encouraging, and perceptive, and he customized my lessons to my learning style. Also, be sure to look out for him as a solo artist! 10/10 would recommend.

Banjo Lessons

You can tell that Gabe puts his heart and soul into his music, and his skill and enthusiasm (and patience!) make him a great teacher. I look forward to continuing banjo lessons with him!

Banjo Lessons

Gabe is an exceptional teacher!! He makes it fun to learn! He has a great personality, very pleasant and easy to talk to! He made me feel relaxed! I was taking 5 string Banjo lessons from him - I would have continued, but found some one in my area for hands-on lessons!!! I highly recommend Gabe - you won't be disappointed!!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge 60 an hour, and 30 a half hour. For traveling fees I add on an additional 20$ and am willing to work with your budget if you are traveling from a longer distance.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I first gauge where my new student is at and what they want to do with their instrument, then pinpoint areas of practice so they can succeed!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’ve had private instruction on and off for all of my years of playing. I’ve Studied under great local musicians including Sean Lahey, Brett Vaughn Vanderfighct, Mark Minor, Paul Beatie and more. I’ve studying music theory at sierra college. Plus years of experience playing in bands, jamming, sitting in and playing my own stuff.
