If you're looking for a skilled and resourceful handyman who is punctual, responsible, and value for your money, David Gomes is your man. I initially hired David to repair two pocket doors - one was stuck and the other did not slide smoothly. I was a little nervous that he had to remove the moulding to repair the doors, but he did a great job. I, also, had him adjust some of my cabinet doors and he worked on my patio doors and screens so they now open so smoothly. David is, indeed, a specialist on doors, but he can do so much more that I had him do other things in my house. . .install 3 new toilets and a new lock and deadbolt on a door, re-grouted some tiles, replace spray hose, moulding in powder room etc. Whenever he finishes a task, he always asks you to check it so that you are completely satisfy with the job. He made several trips to the hardware store to get materials he needed and didn't charge me for his time. I have a large custom home and have used many contractors/handymen for various jobs and I would highly recommend David. I am so glad I found him on Thumbtrack. . .he will be the only handyman I will use from this day forward.

One of the first things Gleo told me was that he had a regular job and would be able to work on weekends. He did two jobs for me at a rental. One was installing a medicine cabinet and interior lock. He did not complete repair of drywall repair by the cabinet. The other job was installation of a security door. He installed the medicine cabinet, lock and security door in a good manner. He did not complete an addition to the bottom of the security door. He was pleasant, on time, cleaned up well, and cooperative but for the incomplete items. I wanted him to paint a bath in S.F. at another rental but, he did not give me an estimate (perhaps too far away). Manelis Properties

I hired Jasper from My Apartment Is Better Than Yours. I think they did a terrific job at a very reasonable price. I'm really pleased that I decided to go with them. I had a number of unusual carpentry tasks to complete when I moved to my new place. The windows were old and the wood was irregular and moldy, so the wood around the antique glass panels needed to be replaced. I was told those windows hadn't been opened in 40 years, but now they work perfectly and you'd never know the wood wasn't original. Also, several doorways lacked doors when I moved in, and were unusual rounded shapes cut into the stucco without doorframes. Jasper was able to make me custom doors with antique iron-wrought handles, and they look awesome. I also needed threshholds worked on, cabinets put up, new benches made for my roof deck, a custom projector and screen put in, antique chandeliers installed, a lock repaired... and I'm probably forgetting one or two things. They are in the process of putting the finishing touches on my humidor (they had to build me custom legs for it), and it's going to look spectacular. Anyway, they knocked it all out of the park. They were prompt and clean and didn't cause much of a disturbance despite all the work they were doing. They'll be my go-to for anything I need done in the future. I definitely recommend them.

Bogdan was able to come the next morning to help us with our faucet install and a minor deck repair. He identified a valve under the sink that also needed to be replaced and went out to grab the replacement part for us on the spot. He was on time, had great communication and did everything we asked!

Eduardo and his team have decades of vast experience. Prior to forming his own business, Eduardo was in charge of the 'A-Team' for one of the highest regarded painting companies in the East Bay. We initially met when we hired his previous employer to paint the exterior of our home/ garage. Having a newborn child, we were very concerned that the paint job was handled thoughtfully by experts trained in effectively handling the homes with lead paint. Eduardo and he crew did an excellent job. Since then (nearly 11 years later) we have reached to Eduardo for: Interior paint/repairs when putting previous home on the market, move-in interior paint job for subsequent home (nearly nine years ago and still looks great!), exterior two-story duplex for my mother-in-law, wallpaper stripping, light fixture installation, plumbing work, wall patching, dry wall replacement, dry rot repair, deck repair/restoration even toilet replacement. If Eduardo can't do it, he knows someone that can (his contact assisted my mother-in-law with an emergency busted hot water heater replacement)! He does tend to book out so it's helpful plan you job in advance if you have a rigid timeline. If you are a bit flexible he can sometimes sneak in an interior job if Mother Nature isn't cooperating for his exterior jobs. He snuck in a three-day impromptu stairwell, bathroom, hallway and laundry room job for us last week, spaces that we had neglected to freshen up prior to our move in in 2009. Couldn't be happier with the results! I have recommended him countless times over the years to friends, neighbors and family and I have only heard positive feedback about him and the high quality of his work. He is professional and trustworthy. Bonus: having Eduardo and his team work in/around our home is always a pleasure as they are friendly & respectful and my kids adore 'em!

John Cullen of Caledonia Plastering did outstanding exterior stucco and interior plaster work for my backyard structure - beautiful wall finish, very uniform and flat, tightly finished and good to see. He worked his schedule around to get to me quickly, working on Saturdays. If I have more stucco or plaster work I will definitely check with him again.

I cannot explain how grateful I am to have met Economy Home repair through this app. They were fast, friendly, and the service was impeccable. I had recently been working to restore a 1912 Craftsman style bungalow in Oakland, and then accepted a job in another state. Bad planning for me, but luckily I had Thumbtack and Economy Home Repair there for me. They we're first contracted to remove the aluminum siding that was wrapped around the house, then, we needed them to fix or replace any damaged shingles from the original siding, and then lay a coat of paint over it all! They got that done in a couple weeks!! Later on, I needed their help to finish up some tile work, and to put up some Sheetrock in the 2nd floor. They got that done with no hesitation. Again, I cannot be more grateful for that team. They deserve 100 stars.

We went from framed to frameless shower enclosure and when the old glass was removed, we quickly realized we needed to make tile repair prior to installing the new glass. We decided to have a different company make the repair. Owner, Michael Compton of Compton Construction quickly responded to my Thumbtack post, set up an estimate appointment and provided me with an estimate the same day. A repair appointment was set up immediately and all was repaired, cleaned up and perfect in just one visit. This was a smooth and fast repair. Michael is great to do business with. He's easy going and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend Michael Compton Construction and will certainly use them again. Five gold stars!!! So happy to find Compton on Thumbtack. (I'd like to add that I received several/max quotes and decided on Compton Construction). -Happy home owner

I needed a fence gate repair due to rot. Noah responded quickly, was bonded & insured and included his contractor number in his reply, so I knew he wasn't unlicensed. He was on time, did very thorough work, and did a great job at a reasonable price.

Oscar was easy to contact. We had 6 holes from some complicated plumbing and electrical work that had been done in our home, many in hard to work in areas where getting access seemed close to impossible for us. I sent him pictures of the drywall needing to be patched. We made an appointment on Friday with him for Saturday at 8AM and he was right on time. We walked through the house talked obout our expectations and he pointed out some problematic issues about our electrical and plumbing, offering choices on how he could proceed. He went right to work, and worked really hard for over 4 hours then he was done. We are thrilled with the results, he matched our existing textured walls perfectly, no small feat. All our drywall looks original now, not patched. His fee was entirely reasonable if not an outright bargain. When he left there was some very small clean up to do on our end. Removing tape after everything dried. We wiped down a counter a bathroom floor where some drywall dust had wandered. We expected this and knew we were not paying for “white glove” service where a team enters in cotton booties leaving every surface dustless. I would not hesitate to use him again, and would recommend him highly, unless your the type of client that appealed at the idea dusting up some very small area. He is a true professional. We got a quote on what it would cost to detexture our home, which was higher than we hopped, but then he pointed out all sorts of details we hadn’t thought of that it would take to get a perfect finish and it totally made sense. When we decide to go ahead with that job he’ll definitely be the guy we use.

We had stucco work done to the house. Basically Asael reworked someone else's mistakes, made many recommendations and repaired all that we needed him to do. He was such a professional, worked 12-14 hours per day till he finished the project in 5 days. That is unheard of for such a project. They worked so clean every day after they finished each day and no mess whatsoever. I highly recommend Marcelino plastering to anyone thinking about doing any projects. As a matter of fact, i will not let anyone else touch my house, but Asael.

To Whom It May Concern: A short while ago, I hired Mr. Pastorino to paint my entire living space, which included a very high coffered ceiling in the living room. I chose Mr.Pastorino after I noted that he has a 30 year history of working for top, 5 star hotels in San Francisco, including the Huntington, where he served as a Master painter for 15 years. My job needed to be expedited so that I could move back in with minimum inconvenience. Mr. Pastorino’s work exceeded my expectations! My house looks beautiful! His workmanship is impeccable. The attention to detail is very obvious. There was also some patch work that was needed in the plaster, and his repairs are seamless. He is very neat and he cleaned up his working areas promptly. I should also mention that he was very helpful with my color choices, as he has the knowledge and talent with regard to both contemporary and old world palettes in home decor. I highly recommend Mr. Pastorino. Cynthia Delaney Jack London Square

Dominguez Plastering was very responsive to my Thumbtack inquiry and provided answers to all of my questions. The bid was very reasonable for the amount of work involved in the repair, and they were available to do the work immediately, which I appreciated. I ended up choosing to go with a different vendor who had already done work in my neighborhood, but that does not change the positive experience I had with Dominguez Plastering.

Paul made sure that he had the correct thickness sheet rock to replace a 6 sq ft area damaged by cat urine. He also treated the area with urine destroyer before patching the hole. He carefully protected the surrounding area from plaster and dust before starting work. His repair job was neat and the texture matches the surrounding area so I can't tell it was patched. He used a spray plaster to retexture our closet ceiling with water damage. He said he wouldn't use that product again because the spray hit the walls that we didn't want to repaint and the texture doesn't match the surrounding area. In other words, he did a great job with the dry mixed plaster but not as well with the spray can.
