FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing with any professional will always differ. Example: A toilet installation at one house may be easier this time around, then say another toilet installation at a house that may have more issues to deal with. Depending of the difficulty of your particular situation, price will vary. Price will also vary depending on the company and their overhead, which is why many companies are so much more or less than each other. Some companies can afford to provide deep mark downs and some can not.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I work as a labor for a couple of years in the Plumbing industry and worked my way up to a residential plumbing technician. One particular company I worked for long ago had a great school where all the new hires would have to go through to work for them. They provided huge 4 inch binders, loaded with information from the days plumbing was first created and how it has updated over the years. I also try and read the code books and plumbing books in general to make sure I stay on top of the information, and techniques I run into out if the field.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I use to work in Sales and Customer Service for many years and I really did not like the pushiness that line of work forced on staff and customers. Over time I switched over to computer training, construction and Cable installation with subcontract companies that partnered with Specturm. Although these lines of work had their pros and cons. I never really enjoyed them. there was no work I can visually see at the end of the day, nor could I really put my hands to use. I ran into a family member at Home Depot, while he was gathering items for his customer. We had a little chat and caught up and got into the conversation about his line of work and told me how he loves the sense of accomplishment when remodeling areas of some one's home. He said I should try it out and see what I think. That was close to a decade ago and here I am now. Starting my own plumbing company and still being challenged and learning something new every day. The days are never the same, even if the job are.
