Saved my deck after I, almost, ruined it. Was willing to negotiate on a fair price and really cared that his work was good. I'm already planning on using him again for other jobs around our house.
Steve proved himself to be an excellent choice for me to have some home improvement work taken care. Within 10 minutes of placing my request on Thumb Tac, I had received a response from Steve with an estimate of how much it would cost to do the work site unseen. Within an hour he was onsite looking over the project; we were able to quickly negotiate a fair price to have the work done with Steve including the demolition and haul-away of a weathered wooden shed and the spa pump, heater, and other items stored within it. My primary request was to have a somewhat large, very weathered wood deck demoed and hauled away to a landfill/dump. Steve turned out to be an easy-going, personable, and exceptionally hard worker very knowledgeable in many areas of home improvement, construction and demolition. He carefully and expertly executed the demolition and haul away of the entire wood deck. – A lot of work. Steve worked his a$$ off to demo the deck and haul it away in an efficient, timely, and proper manner. As a result, I asked Steve to also provide a power wash to my house paying special attention to my very weathered front walkway pavers. Throughout the project Steve followed through on every promise and worked especially hard to bring out the best with the power washing of the pavers providing an exceptionally noticeable improvement after removing a lot of baked in dirt, grime, and fungus. There were a couple of times when Steve could not make it back to continue the work at the agreed upon time due to unexpected ‘life’ events, which I understand happens to all of us. However, even given a couple of unexpected hold-ups, he made it to the site every day, kept me in the loop with what was going on, and gave me a discount to compensate for the inconvenience and hold-up in getting to the site due to these interruptions. He went so far as to show up on a Sunday to coat and seal the newly power washed front walkway pavers. All-in-all, it was a great experience working with Steve. He was reliable, a hard worker, very proficient and knowledgeable, and very competitively priced. I look forward to having him back for other home improvements in the near future. Thanks for a great job, Steve! -Bob
I was very happy with him. He did an excellent job painting the interior of my home. Due to tall vaulted ceilings it was more of a job then I could do. He completed the job with much better outcome then I could have ever done. I will hire him again.
Excellent job. Several projects. Repaired termite damage on balcony railing. Built lovely deck steps. Sanded / painted fascia along roof line, and other structures. Impressed that Jon and Marvin came out within 24 hours to provide an estimate, eager to help, and arrived on time. Price quote was reasonable. Marvin started the work that Monday morning. No glitches worked hard and was intent on making sure I was satisfied with his work. Felt I received my money's worth and would hire again.
EXCELLENT experience!! If we could give Jamie 10 stars we would! My husband and I recently bought a new home and needed a new railing installed on our 3rd story outdoor patio/deck (the existing railing had dry rot and termite damage.) While in escrow we decided to get quotes for the new railing; Jamie came over the same day as I requested service and gave us a very reasonable estimate. As soon as we received the keys to our new house Jamie got to work right away. I changed my mind a few times during the construction and he was very accommodating. In addition, we have two young children, so naturally safety is a top priority for us and Jamie made sure to triple check every bolt and even suggested ways to make the railing even safer without compromising the look of the railing. He was very efficient and finished the project in a timely manner. Throughout the entire process he was very professional, was great at communicating, and executed the project to perfection. We absolutely love the way our railing looks and are very confident in it structurely. We will definitely be using Jamie again for other carpentry projects. Do yourself a favor and hire him, you won't be disappointed!
William painted two rooms: living and dining. He was on time, extremely meticulous and did a job that was beyond good. I'm having him back to do more paint work soon. Your search should stop here. William is not only great at what he does...but he's a great man.
Going in to this journey (online)I was a bit skeptical after trying to find the right person/persons for the job needed. I have gone to Craigslist etc and not found one I felt I could trust and would give me that internal feeling of doing right by me. I heard about Thumbtack through a friend and knew that this had to be what was needed to change what was suppose to be. I went on Thumbtack and searched and searched, I received my price range and that is when I found Jim Presti. He made a quote, and it was exactly what I had been looking for. Jim called me, Jim was very respectful, professional and understanding to my needs. He came to my home, met my husband and realized that what was needed what was what we had been looking for all along. Honesty, and following through with the ideas, questions answered as well with making arrangements and working around our schedule. Jim showed up on time, with the right stuff. Jim is one of a kind. He did a deck on our patio, and a back laundry room area, shelves, cabinets etc. Their was some minor plumbing issues. We decided to replace all of that. Jim made us very comfortable and easy going to talk to. Jim, I want to thank you for such a brilliant idea on the siding, as well the deck of color. I can't ask for a better turn out. Please know that you have changed our mind..of showing us that anything is possible. Jim, the patio, and décor of outside will allow us to enjoy a beautiful environment for outdoor living as we have many family get together' s. The winter months, with the new awning and summers are going to be a blessing. The lighting above and around the deck is so pretty, a more enjoyable atmosphere by pool side. The redwood deck is of beautiful coloring. The shelves can't be any more spacious than what imagined. Jim, your patience, expert status is amazing. Planning and design was such a busy place for me to be..but having you come to our home made it much easier for me. thank you Jim, for keeping your work space cleaned as you went along. I am very happy with the work. I won't have to come to thumbtack for future work...I will just call JIM.. So thankful for Jim's all, and view of perfection.
Kevin Ghazarian worked with me on a variety of prominent projects at my home. In all aspects from budgeting, design, planning and organization of the construction schedule, he was a tremendous asset. On each home improvement he displayed exceptional qualities of creative-problem solving, fortitude as a leader and task-master and attention to detail in design and craftsmanship. I am very pleased on how well the projects turned out, which is due largely to his professional contributions. Highlights of projects are described as follows: 1. Interior painting of several rooms and kitchen. The design motif was a traditional Tuscani color scheme. The original and uniquely beautiful architectural elements such as the curved kitchen cabinets, wordolf walls, crown mouldings, bay windows and fire place mantel pieces were individually painted separate colors. This was challenging in its multi color design and tedious attention to painting the details. In two rooms alone there were 15 different colors used, all of which had to be the perfect color and hue. 2. Installation of wood floors. A beautiful distressed antique wood flooring was installed in the kitchen, pantry, bathroom and large family room. This involved subfloor demolition, removal and replacement, and the detailed installation of wood flooring and moulding. The hard, back breaking work required a number of workers managed by Kevin. As a result, the work flow was systematically optimized and driven until the projects completion. Kevin was a relentless task master and has many skills as a talented worker. 3. Electrical rewiring of bathroom and hallway. The old wiring was faulty and insufficient and new wiring was pulled and replaced. All ceiling light fixtures, electrical outlets and switches were chosen and installed. A 3 way switch system was a necessity and was devised quickly and installed correctly to code by Kevin. This all required the knowledge and skill of a trained electrician. 4. Construction of exterior deck. This project involved much post production planning and design. Trek decking materials, sub deck foundations, metal piers, treated lumber of all sizes, and all the special screws and bolts needed to be estimated and purchased for this large construction project. Unlike a simple rectangular shape, this deck was complex in design with multiple angles, levels and steps. Cutting perfect angles and lengths of Trek decking were a necessity in order for this deck to turn out as provocative and beautiful as it did.
Greg did a great job helping us rebuild our deck. Would definitely recommend!
George and his team did a great job on our new deck and we're very happy. I highly recommend Garcia Designs. Where they lost one star was underestimating materials after an agreed upon change to materials, and a misunderstanding of how one finishing detail was to completed, but nothing major.
This was my first time using thumbtack and I was pleasantly surprised. The responses were quick, the quote was lower than others and Elli did an amazing job with the patio cleaning. He even removed the rust from the concrete and did not seem rushed. Will definitely use the services again. Thank you washing raccoons!!
I hired Cova Construction (Martin) to redo my entire 250 square foot deck. It was a tough project, but Martin was able to do it, and it came out perfect. It came out so good, that I hired him to do my entire kitchen, which also came out perfect. I couldn't be happier; Martin is definitely the only person I will hire in the future. He answered all my questions and did even more than I expected. My wife and I couldn't be happier with selecting Cova Construction.
very large crew worked hard and coated 2 40foot decks
Our job was to demolish and replace the existing wood patio / balcony that hangs over our garage port. Thomas Lee Cloud hauled away the old one and arranged for the purchase of the wood, the painting, and the assembly of the new deck. The best part was that he knew the city codes very well so that it would pass the city inspection. Many electrical complications arose but TLC was able to solve them.
We hired Unique Concrete Creations to replace the old patchwork of concrete patio and pool decking around our 1960 era swimming pool. Many old patch of concrete had been installed since then, making it very ugly and uneven. Don provided a very competitive bid for the project that included installation of disability access to our back patio doors to the pool area. We included new sidewalks for access to our front yard gate and and to the side patio on the opposite side of the house. His construction crew consisting of his sons and several other always arriving on time and prepared to work with great attitudes and focus on the work to be done. The team was a friendly, professional and thoughtful group. They were always focused on our needs. They went the extra mile to get thing done, even removing some very old scrubs that where in the way of completing the work. They cleaned up everyday. Although it looked like an earthquake hit the back yard on the demolition day. They were very quick to return the next day and haul away the rubble for recycling. I want to commend Don and Donna on their proactive response to our every need. Don listen to our needs, as I'm in a wheelchair, and took all our thoughts and desires in to the design he created. My wife wanted artistic flow in the creations, as she hates straight lines. The final design exceeded our expectation and is very beautiful. The hand stamped surface adds to the artistic flow my wife and I wanted. We also included new cantilever coping around the newly remodeled pool instead of ugly old fashioned coping. This gives a beautiful flow to the pool deck and the patio area. The design added safety and access to the pool and patio deck. I would recommend Unique Concrete Creations for your next project. Don, Donna and their team will make your project a showcase of craftsmanship and quality. I can't think of anything they could have done to improve the project as we are 100% satisfied with the work.
We had just bought a new house and wanted to renovate a bedroom and bathroom that had not been permitted by the previous owner. We hired Ronald Butler and his crew because out of all the contractors we interviewed, he seemed the most knowledgeable and apt to delivering the services we were looking for. From the outset of the renovation, it was clear that our new home was going to need much more work than we anticipated. The discoveries we made when opening up walls, prompted us to change our scope of work. We were now facing new electrical, plumbing, foundation, roofing, and flooring among other things. My wife and I were nervous about the changes because of the financial ramifications, and with two small children, the impact it will have on our living conditions for the next several months. Fortunately for us, we found the right contractor. Ronald's no nonsense advice, professional guidance and expert workmanship has made this process a lot more manageable than we thought. The project included in addition to the aforementioned scope: new floor plan, new HVAC, new tankless water heater, high efficiency appliances for a new kitchen, solar tubes, new electrical sub-panels, two new bathrooms, with new tub, all new fixtures, toilets and sinks, new laundry room, energy efficient recessed lighting throughout the house, new copper piping, gas piping, new electrical conductors, recepticles and switches, new windows, interior and exterior doors, new drywall and paint, new insulation, and a new 400 square foot deck. There were many challenges throughout this project, and Ronald and his crew met and overcame each one in a timely fashion, with courtesy and professional tact. My wife and I feel very fortunate to have found Ronald. He has not only delivered us a completely renovated home, that meets all of our contemporary criteria with all the new energy efficient home options, but he has also given us peace of mind and security for us and our children in an ideal home for many years to come. ....photos coming soon.
Skyline Framing framed my 2nd story balcony deck and the stairs. Everything went very well. They showed up on time both days and worked quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend Carlos and his crew.
I contracted TGC to demolish my existing 2nd story deck and rebuild it. Jeff and his crew made sure the new deck was ultra sturdy, made sure to replace the decaying rim joist, and built everything to code! We opted to have a waterproof surface and Jeff delivered by installing the Life Deck system. Jeff & Kalyn answered any questions and concerns that I had. His crew also cleaned up when the job was done. Overall, we're impressed with his work and would not hesitate to refer him.
Primary construction resealed our patio deck and did an amazing job. Super clean, detailed, and professional!
I have hired Ayal Bendayan at Home Designers & Contractors Inc. to renovate my house and the experience was a lot more pleasant than I had anticipated. I remodeled the Kitchen, Livingroom, and the backyard. The Balcony was about 500 sqf. that wasn’t utilized until Ayal built an amazing composite deck with built-in pot holders with benches in-between them that created a new leisure area for dinner, play room, and lounging. The Kitchen is maple with a lot of pullouts and a nice sized Island that was used as a table also. We installed an additional window for more light and a view to the deck. It seems like a simple task but Ayal had to install a steal wall that was quite sophisticated. The Living room had a bar, wine cooler, and shelving out of hardwood Maple. The Flooring Distressed Hardwood oak that gave it a very warm ambience. All together Ayal made his trips to the to get permits and finished the job on time with an amazing finish.
Eddie was a true professional. His goal was to make sure my deck looked amazing. He was as invested in this project as I was. He gave a fair price and I am every bit happy with the completed product. He and his team cleaned, sanded, stained, and sealed my deck. I highly recommend him as he is genuine, kind, punctual, and professional. Thanks Eddie!
