FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After reaceiving a B.A. degree from Pepperdine University with emphasis on piano performance, I began working on obtaining an elementary credential. I taught first grade a short time in a private elementary school when I quickly found out that teaching music was much more rewarding to me than in the classroom setting. Working one-on-one or in small groups certainly gave promising and optimistic results.I have more flexible hours, more time for my family, more time to prepare for recitals and church programs, more time to give to charitible organizations. That was 40 years ago and I am still glad I made that decision.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Parents should look for a teacher who nutures the child in the learning process. She teaches simple patterns and various melodies accented with much praise and encouragement. She assigns challenges when the student is ready. The teacher should have access to a fine and finely tuned instrument and who takes time to teach technique that will make the instrument sing.
