What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every house is unique and has different requirements. It is impossible to provide a well-founded estimate without looking at the property and developing an individualized proposal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an HSR Certified Professional Home Stager and Redesigner and have completed the most comprehensive home staging and redesign certification course in the country provided by the Home Staging Resource. The HSR Certification program is accredited by the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA), the only third-party governing association for the home staging industry. Between a myriad of trainings, professional conferences and seminars, and keeping an eye on trends through many design outlets (magazines, web sites, etc.) almost every day includes an opportunity to learn something new.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have a degree in Theatre, and began designing costumes while in college. After renovating and selling two homes, I realized that I can utilize my passion for design and real estate by helping others achieve faster and more profitable sales.
What types of customers have you worked with?
A "Market Ready Evaluation" is a consultation designed to help a seller prepare their home for market, prior to listing.
"Occupied Staging" utilizes as much as possible of the existing furnishings, and may include some additional rentals.
"Vacant Staging" utilizes rental items to define key areas of the property to help buyers visualize the potential of the property.
"Redesign" is similar to occupied staging, but with an emphasis on designing to live in a space you love, rather than just appealing to potential buyers.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's always advisable to speak with several providers before making a decision, but be wary of choosing a stager based on price alone. Be sure to look at the portfolio of any stager, as this will be a barometer of the results you can expect.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
EVERY home will benefit from staging - from a 1-bedroom condo to a multi-million dollar mansion.
Consulting with a home stager should be the first step in preparing your home for market, not the last. Often, sellers and realtors contact us with just a few days notice. To truly maximize a property, it takes time to prepare, design, and plan a transformation that will be effective.
