I have a different take. Everyone knows he's a gifted performer and teacher for adults. I have kids 15 and 13 and can vouch for his extraordinary teaching talent for the young teens. He has been so patient with these guys and they genuinely LIKE the lesson time with him. He really relates to them. The 13 year old boy has been a challenge but I think Danny really inspires him and relates to him on a genuine level. The 15 year old girl is very self motivated and for her Danny is a real role model because he is so acclaimed for what he does so its kinda a thrill to have him as our personal teacher! He travels to our house 45 min away from his house because of my work schedule and has been extremely flexible and accommodating. I still pinch myself that we really have Danny as our music coach. He is SOOO good with the kids I think I look up to him just as much for his teaching skills and demeanor with my kids as I do for his performing ability. I understand he won the San Diego Music Award for best jazz album this year...it feels like we have a celebrity in the home but he's so humble he just feels like a friend too. He says he would like to expand his teaching profile and I see why. When he coached my daughter at Jazz camp this summer you could tell he relates to young people really well individually. I think as long as he can, Danny should try to be involved with young people and teaching, he is truly gifted as a teacher. I think we'll hold onto him as long as we can!

Danny is a composer, performer, and consummate pianist. He is also approachable, easy going, and has great ideas on how to approach pieces. I wanted to return to playing piano again after 20+ years, not having played since college. I prefer classical pieces, and Danny has worked on some beautiful pieces with me, getting my hands back to moving again. BEST PLUS FACTOR -- if I got stuck, Danny would play the piece for me, and sometimes others as examples. I got the best concerts EVER!!!! ; )

I have been studying jazz piano with Danny for over 1 year. I am a much older student who briefly took classical piano lessons as a young child and was nervous about beginning my study of jazz with a professional jazz musician. Danny is extremely patient, and encouraging, even with the most elementary topics. He is classically trained, and his knowledge of music is vast. He provides lots of handouts, many that he developed for his students. He customizes the curriculum and repertoire for my level and interests. Often, after a lesson, my head is spinning with excitement. I highly recommend him as a teacher for students of any level.

I've been getting lessons from Danny for more than 6 months now and my musical growth has increased more so than ever. My piano skills and my understanding of music is constantly increasing since I started. Danny is not only an amazing musician/piano player but also a knowledgable and understandable teacher. He always works on your own pace which is nice because you never feel pressured or rushed to move on. If i wanted to get something down to feel more confident (scale, chords, songs, etc) he would work with me and do what he can to help me out. Danny is an amazing teacher and a real nice guy! I'm fortunate to be one of his students!

Danny Green is one of the most talented musicians in California, and also one of the best people to get along with. He's also a fantastic, and patient, music teacher; always approaching a problem with a solution personalized for each student. I learned more from him in a month than I did in 2 years at a university. A good person, and amazing piano player, Danny Green constantly finds ways to blow his audience away. I catch every gig of his that I can!

I have been teaching music both in the private and classroom settings since 2001. With my experience in Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Classical music, I am able to offer my students a wide variety of stylistic possibilities. When I first started learning how to play jazz, the biggest challenge was figuring out how to practice jazz. Over the years, I have developed many methods for learning improvisation, new voicings, scales, rhythms and repertoire. One of my strengths as a teacher is my ability to thoroughly explain new concepts in a manner that makes sense to my students. The following is a list of the areas I generally cover in lessons: -Voicings: Open and Closed Positions -Scales: As we learn new voicings, we will work on their corresponding scales -Repertoire: Jazz Standards as well as other pieces I have arranged -Improvisation: Playing over chord structures - endless possibilities -Critical listening: No better way to learn than by listening to the greats! -Analysis: Playing through transcriptions and understanding the essence of it all.
