Introduction: My success with students have mainly been in the way I explain things. I develop very simple and effective techniques and skills for my students that will help them in all classes. My goal is to help students not only achieve and succeed in their current class, but to set the correct study habits and skills so that they will succeed in future classes. I don't believe in short cuts or quick fixes. My goal is to help the student achieve academic success that is long-lasting. Someone once told me that I'm really good breaking down hard-to-understand concepts into easy-to-understand examples. I tried teaching and, as a result, have been enjoying it for the last 14 years! I have taught at public schools, charter schools, private schools, and international schools. Furthermore, I've taught at both middle schools and high schools. I've had tremendous success teaching in both gifted and talented classes as well as remedial classes. At every public school I've worked at, I've been able to contribute in raising the Academic Performance Index score up because of my tireless effort to help students at all levels of abilities as well as help colleagues do the same. I'm the teacher who comes in early, tutor at lunch, help other teachers during my prep time, stay late, and answer student emails throughout the evening. I am passionate about education and have done a lot to ensure the success of my students. I love what I do and am passionate about it!

Tan is an amazing tutor. Even at our first meeting he was sure to understand what I needed help understanding. He was willing to explain the same statistics problem to me over and over again. I have never found a tutor where test grades would come back so significantly higher. After struggling in a class (getting an F), I am so grateful to have found such a great tutor who helped me raise my final grade to a B!!! If you need a tutor, look no more. He is experienced, extremely helpful and patient! I HIGHLY recommend him.

Mr.Huynh truly is one of a kind. I myself have always had a passion for mathematics, a passion that has grown much more since I've met Mr.Huynh. He has a way of engaging and teaching that is truly unrivaled. Not only has he been a great teacher, he has also taught me that with hard work one can achieve. Tan is an exceedingly capable tutor. Being a fast learner, I was able to learn at a much faster pace and understand things quicker with Tan's concise methods of explanation. I was also able to retain more of what I learnt because I was sufficiently motivated to complete exercises and problems. Tan ensured that I had a solid mathematical foundation, then encouraged me to think outside the box to solve problems. As a result, my mathematical skills and problem-solving mindset have greatly improved.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate of $50/hour is based in La Mesa, San Diego. If I have to drive out of La Mesa, my rate will increase depending on how far I have to travel.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When meeting with a student for the first time, I spend the first 15 minutes to get to know the students, their academic background, their troubles and successes with math, their general outlook about math, as well as their academic goals. This is not part of the hourly charge. I want to make sure that the student and I feel comfortable with each other as well as if it is a good fit before we start tutoring. Then we start our tutoring session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate of UC San Diego with a degree in Management Science and a minor in Art. I have a Master of Education from UC San Diego with credentials to teach Mathematics and Physics. I have supplemental credentials to also teach Business, Economics, and Art. As a high school student I scored 790 on my SAT Math, 800 on my SAT II Math 2, and competed in the American Invitational Math Exam.
