Jason drove, probably over an hour, to the Riverside area to produce a video for my daughter's softball college recruitment effort. The video he produced and edited was professional and exceeded expectations. Jason was patient and understanding while filming my daughter in live-action shots. Jason charged a reasonable fee for his efforts, with no extra cost for travel. I would recommend his services for video production and editing to anyone.

In this day in age it is crucial for businesses to not only get their message out quickly, but to captivate and motivate action with their audience. Consumers are bombarded with communications and advertisements all day long. Often times we aren’t even aware of these messages because we have become so accustomed to constant media contact. If your business is going to stand out from the rest of the noise your customers face on a daily basis, you need an effective communication tool. That tool, is a video created by Louie Stevens. Louie Stevens, owner and founder of Films You Feel, lives up to what his company’s name suggests. He doesn’t just throw a few scenes together from a video filmed on an iPhone, add music, and call it a day. Louie creates a professional, broadcast quality video that is guaranteed to capture audiences and promote your company’s message. Louie does more than just film and edit. When we created our video, Louie wrote the script, provided coaching, directed, filmed, and edited, everything. He literally went above and beyond and made the video come alive. I encourage every business, big or small, to contact Louie for a film consolation. You will be amazed with his quality of work and professionalism, all at an affordable rate. Guaranteed that we will be using Louie for all of our future video marketing needs. Dustin Hardin Co-Founder & Creator www.iCampSavvy.com

I've worked with Palo on several photography and videography projects, but the highlight was the video he made for my sister's wedding. He was on time, professional, and gracious for the entire day, which was so helpful amid the stress of a wedding. Palo didn't miss a thing, and the footage from the wedding is perfect. From tiny details on the dress and rings, to gorgeous aerial shots of the venue, and sweet moments throughout the evening, the final video is the perfect recap of an awesome day. The video is set to music perfectly, with snippets of vows which were an unexpected and amazing surprise. Everyone in my family LOVES the video, especially the bride and groom. If you haven't considered videography for your wedding, do it--and book Palo. You will not be disappointed!

I am in love! Chasing light did a same day edit for us so we were able to show a 3 minute video about 50% of the way through our reception. It was INCREDIBLE! The guests were all amazed and we are so thrilled with just this 3 minute video...cannot wait to see the real deal. I have watched it at least a 100 times already. The use of the drone made it extra special.....I would highly recommend him for this same day edit....really fantastic.

My husband and I are so lucky to have found Mike and Sofia of You+Me/R3 Films to shoot our wedding video. Not only are they the most fun people ever, they are also super good at what they do! I was never comfortable being in front of the camera and I always thought it was super awkward kissing in front of strangers but our meeting with them prior to the event definitely put me at ease. They made us feel like we were long-time friends. And even if I still felt nervous in front of the camera the day of, they work so seamlessly that I sometimes forgot they were even there documenting the whole thing. They are true professionals, making sure to coordinate with other photographers and vendors to ensure the best cinematography possible; they sat with us to discuss their vision of our video based on our personality; they scoured the venue looking for the best backdrop; they use top of the line equipment so you know you're getting the best quality film; they had their own microphone so the video will have quality audio and not muffled sounds; they were on time --early actually which was awesome; they are priced so much more reasonably than other videographers out there without skimping on the outcome. Basically, if you want the best experience with your videographers on one of the most important days of your life, you will not go wrong with choosing Mike and Sofia. There's no one better!

Myron did an exceptional job creating a video for my wedding. I was impressed with his responsiveness. We were coming from out of state and had he made everything so easy. I was blown away with the quality of the video he sent. He really listened to how I wanted the video to look and feel and AHH it is so perfect, I can't stand it. Everything looked beautiful. Myron and his 2nd camera guy were so stealthy, there are shots I didn't know were being taken. He also coordinated a photographer as well and the pictures are stunning. If I ever need a video made again Awesomesauce will be my first and last call.

Scott has done numerous photo shoots for me of my artwork and also portrait work/headshots for promotional purposes. The quality of his work is always amazing and he's very reasonably priced. At request, he provided multiple file formats and sizes. He also shot a top-notch promotional video about me and my artwork - filmed, edited, transitions, music, the whole deal. It is amazing in terms of technical quality and editorial content. I can't recommend him highly enough!

Jon shot video of an event we hosted for an award ceremony and did a great job. His was easy to communicate with, and he shared his work throughout the editing process to check-in with my team, to be sure it was matching our goals and expectations. And he was timely with his delivery of everything. And our video turned out wonderfully!

Working with Swift Imaging Media was amazing! The professionalism they showed made them extremely easy to work with. They all my questions via phone and email. They helped me feel more comfortable in front of the camera and he arrived AHEAD of time to prepare his equipment. In his price was the video itself, editing, his travel, and the rights to “own” the video and distribute wherever I please. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of work so much I’d recommend him to anyone for photography or video work.

Phil knew just how to shoot our clients story in a very convincing manner for the website. The introduction videos do just what we wanted them to do, qualify and produce targeted leads for our client. Phil's use of green screen with background images and over laying titles stole the show.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
