After working with Debra the first time at a photo shoot, I knew right away she was one of the best make-up artists I have yet to work with. Arriving on-time, totally prepared and equipped with clean brushes and a full make-up kit, I was then blow away by her performance. Debra nailed the 3 looks that the photographer and I had planned in advance. She was also very quick, which is really important at a shoot because you don't want to waste any time in front of the camera. After the first wonderful experience with Debra, I decided to ask her to come along for another photo shoot. Debra Johnson is one of THE BEST make up artist in the L.A. area and I would highly recommend her for any event or photo shoot!

I cannot paint my face right even if my life depends on it. So whenever there is a special occasion, I seek professional help. While I cannot do it myself, I do have an eye for what's excellent and what's not. I am known to be a perfectionist. I am picky in the utmost sense. If anything can be humanly accomplished, I don't see a reason why it is not done that way, especially when that is someone's profession. Debra came highly recommended by my photographer when I needed a professional photo shoot. I needed my face to still be recognizable as me after the makeup (essentially what I tell all the makeup artists that I've worked with). The photos that came out with Debra's magic touch were SENSATIONAL!! I posted a few on Facebook to get feedback, and I got more compliments than my wedding pictures! People were wowed! Really wowed! Some of them have known me all my life. For the first time in my long life, I have pictures of the best version of me. Debra incorporated my personality into her techniques and color choices. She made my good facial features standout, and she toned down the not as good ones. Even after all that, I still look like me and not someone else! I had a polished, refreshed look that was natural. On the practical side, in case you wonder, the makeup lasted all day. No black streaks running down my eyes. Everything stayed put. I had to use the waterproof eye makeup remover to clean my eyes. I have oily skin in my t-zone and around my eyes, so most eye makeups don't stay or they run to other parts of my face. Debra's all stayed exactly where she first put them. Of course, 2 days before the photo shoot, I had to scratch my face with my car door. Debra expertly hid the scratch. It did not show at all in any of my pictures. As icing on the cake, Debra cares. Since I didn't want to mess up everything that she did, I asked her to come along to the 4-hour photo shoot to help me touch up. Not only did she make sure that my face was right in every picture, she also made sure that my hair looked right, my clothes draped right, if my accessories matched my outfits, etc. Those things were not even her job, but she did them! No other words can describe that except: Debra Genuinely Cares. She had my best interest in mind. It's not an everyday thing that you come across someone who is talented, good at what they do, professional, easy to work with AND genuinely cares about the project as a whole and not just her part. I cannot thank my photographer enough for introducing me to Debra. The two of them, together with her hairstylist, worked so perfectly as a team, that Dream Team who brought out the real me and the best of me in those precious photographs that I now have. So if what I described is what you are looking for as well, then Debra is the one you want. I know I'm picky, so I normally expect 90% from professionals knowing that I can get 70% of what I was looking for at times. Debra delivered 100% of her part AND THEN SOME for parts that are not hers. I have not one negative thing to say about her, and she will be the only one that I will go to in all my future special occasions. =)

Deborah is one of the best make-up artists I've worked with. She's easy to deal with and flexible enough to schedule. I love her work because it is not overly done, highlights your features and works well with the camera. Can't wait to work with her again!

Debra is an amazing makeup artist. She's professional, on time and extremely easy to work with. I worked with her on a difficult fashion editorial & cover and she was so helpful in multiple ways throughout the entire process. Her work always looks amazing, she's my go-to makeup artists.

One of the most recent makeup artistry jobs I have done is doing makeup/hair for a model's portfolio to submit to modeling agencies. The images turned out so beautiful, she ended up getting signed with an agency in the Big Apple!
