My wife got me a guitar for Christmas several years ago even though I have virtually no musical background. After mastering a handful of chords, and a considerable number of bad habits, I decided it was time to actually learn to play. Garrick is terrific. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a ready smile to every lesson, despite my consistent lack of practice. That said, he gently and consistently corrects my mistakes in technique, rhythm , etc. in short, he is exactly what I need. He is teaching me to play guitar.
It was such a pleasure working with Caroline! I wanted to surprise my husband with having the jazz trio play our song when I enter with my father. Caroline and her band learned our song and played it beautifully for the ceremony. We also had a few other requests that were not part of their repertoire and they learned those songs as well. We received so many compliments from our guest about how amazing Citizen Jazz was. The trio really brought a little something extra, and classy to our event. We would definitely hire them again!
Although Denis is a classical player on a classical (nylon-stringed) guitar, he understood right away what I wanted to do. He is a very good match for me.
We had Alexandra play the harp at our wedding at Testarossa Winery on April 19, 2015. She played from 4:30 until after 9PM. She had gotten to the winery at 3! From our first contact with her (via email) she was fabulous. She always got back to us quickly and she was very flexible as far as the kind of music we wanted played. We felt she really wanted us happy and she never made us feel "stupid" about our knowledge of classical music. She was professional but very warm. She was wonderful with the little ones at the wedding and even let two of them "pluck the strings". They were thrilled!!! My one granddaughter cried after the wedding and said "I'll never see the harp lady again"!! Wow! We decided to have a soloist sing "The Prayer" at the wedding and "How Can I Live Without You" at the reception. That was much more work for Alexandra and she was so cordial about doing that. We are sorry we don't have another affair to book Alexandra. She gets the highest recommendations from us. Rosemary and Bryan Fujimoto
Pre-event coordination was easy. I liked that they were flexible with the number of musicians, and Jennifer provided helpful advice on song selection. They arrived on time and played beautifully. Very reasonable rates too!
My tango band Trio Garufa recorded our 2012 album at Granada Studios under the supervision of Stevan Pasero. We had an excellent experience and were delighted with the quality of the results. Many factors make Granada Studios an outstanding recording facility: First, the studio equipment, room design and acoustics are top notch. It's also a very nicely-decorated space, which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed during your long recording sessions. Second, Stevan Pasero strives for nothing short of excellence: he is extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented and uncompromising when it comes to recording quality. He spent several hours optimizing the mic placement for each of our instruments (double bass, bandoneon and guitar), and was on top of every single technical detail, allowing us to fully concentrate on the music. It does make a big difference when your recording engineer is a very experienced performing and recording musician himself: Stevan gave us very valuable feedback on our music and was extremely supportive when we had to work long ours to finish our album. He even spent an entire night working with us when we had to deliver the master mixes the next morning. Lastly, Stevan's wide knowledge of the music industry can also be of great value to those who need advice in that area. In summary, I highly recommend Granada Studios to any musician looking for top-notch professional recording quality.
I worked with Michael Lu to hire a string quartet for my corporate event. Michael and the musicians were outstanding. They arrived on time and looked very professional. They were easy to work with, were quick to communicate when needed and their quality of music more than exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Michael Lu to anyone looking for corporate or event musical entertainment, and I will certainly hire them again in the future.
Amy is awesome last time I played a instrument was in middle school and that was a clarinet so in terms of learning a string instrument like a violin I was nervous but Amy was always supportive, patient, and creative in her way to teaching me. I can say her neat tricks to strengthen my fingers were convenient for me as Im a student and have pencils and pens near me. I also received a lot of help and advice from her from re-learning to read music to how to work a tuner and of course how to operate my violin. I loved having Amy's help and would love to recommend other people to get her as a instructor. It was nice working with her and I'll miss her tons as I head on my solo journey to discover the violin. 😄😄😁
Dan is a fine pianist who not only quickly learned my original tunes and standard repertoire, but added his own flair to them while never getting in my way. He's a solid accompanist and an engaging soloist, and holds together a duo or trio or quartet setting.
What an easy group to work with. On time. Set up. No hassle. Amazing range in music and talent and a very clean no problem experience that the crowd loved. A+
Exceptional music played at our wedding by Bay Area All Strings & Brass. Great people to work with that made the event elegant and romantic. Thank You!
We hired Daniel and the Nova Jazz Band for private event a few weeks back and I have to say, from beginning to end it was a total pleasure working with Daniel and Nova Jazz. Every step of the way, Daniel was so easy to work with and his jazz trio was the perfect addition to our special event. We love the way that they seamlessly went from jazz classics to Brazilian bossa nova we would highly recommend Daniel to anyone looking for a professional jazz band
We had a big holiday shopping party with local DIY craft and card makers on-site, drink specials, and live music by the Sutro Strings Guitar Duo. The Duo elevated the mood and pleased everyone, whether staying specifically for the music or enjoying their time browsing and socializing. We heartily recommend Sutro Strings, and will certainly invite them to our next party!
My daughter really enjoyed her lesson with Vince. Her previous teacher likes to spend a lot of time chatting. In comparison, Vince was engaging and helping her stay on task. He also taught her to play one of her favorite songs. It was a very productive lesson.
We worked with Matt/ High Feather for our wedding and I'm so glad we did! 5 stars without question. Super professional and very nice to work with, but above all incredibly talented. Our reception was in an old art deco hotel and we wanted something really special to contribute to the ambiance. We booked the jazz trio to play at our pre-dinner cocktail hour and they took our party to another level. The music had incredible energy and a classic sound but still young and sexy - perfect vibe for getting our night off to a great start. All of our guests said they felt like they were at a high-society jazz club and have not stopped talking about the jazz trio (and with many of our guests being artists and musicians themselves it was a hard crowd to please!) Our wedding coordinator also appreciated how easy they were to work with from her perspective/coordinating with the wedding party entrance, emcee announcements, punctuality, setup and breakdown, etc. Definitely recommend live music at your next event - it is SO WORTH IT! Thank you guys for helping make our wedding such a memorable event for both us and our guests!
My daughter has been taking piano and violin lessons from Paul. The piano lessons since age 9 for almost 2 years now, and the violin lessons for a few months now to augment the strings music instruction at her school. He was referred by a family in our neighborhood, and he was open to trial lessons before completely signing on. He goes into music appreciation and history along with his teaching. We have also enjoyed a few recitals of his students along the way - there are three of these each year in student homes, and the anticipation of an upcoming recital is good motivation for the student to practice. For one of these recitals, Paul wrote the sheet music for a popular song that my daughter chose, since there wasn't one readily available. So he goes out of his way to customize the teaching. My daughter has progressed well, and enjoys the experience. I definitely recommend Paul.
This band plays a variety of styles and tempos along with varied dynamics and modulations.
We are an amazing Latin music trio with a big sound to get everyone dancing. Tio Sin Lio is a small band with a big sound. Three veteran musicians come together with the energy of a hot salsa orchestra commanding dance floors but fitting in living rooms.
I perform a variety of styles of music on violin and 6-string electric violin with cello range, capable of performing cello repertoire. Genres include classical, pop and rock, folk, country and R&B. I teach violin and electric violin to students of all ages. I also create customized string arrangements.
Nocoasters is an innovative San Francisco jazz piano trio, available for public performances, private events, and studio sessions.
We play a unique blend of musical styles including Americana, "Old School" R&B and original material. We also feature Ren Geisick, a dynamic, gifted vocalist!
