Introduction: I teach according the the Five Principles! I am a 50-year old martial artist and an inductee into the Masters Hall of Fame, the Legends Hall of Fame and the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. My system is listed under the umbrella of Dux Ryu Ninjitsu. I have rank in Goju Ryu, and have also formally studied Kyudo, Kung Fu, Tang Soo do, Isshin Ryu and many other Budo forms. Five Birds Martial Arts is unique in that it is the only one that starts with the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of the student and expands from there using Concept Training techniques that have been developed by me. These concepts can be applied to any endeavor, as is referenced in my recently released Life Skills text, THE FIVE PRINCIPLES OF EVERYTHING. I have a column on the WorldWideDojo website entitled "Legends and Legacies", which I co-write with Frank Dux. We have been working to redefine martial arts training to be more closely associated with the original intent of the ancient teachers...martial arts for the sake of becoming better people. To that end, I work mostly as a broker, to find a suitable teacher/trainer that is local to you and with whom you can build a proper student-teacher relationship. However, I DO teach Education, Tai Chi, Composition, publishing, film and video productions, and massage classes for many other organizations. I own and operate Five Birds Productions and Five Birds Publishing through my umbrella company, Five Birds Industries.

I had an awesome experience learning with this instructor. He is an expert at many skills and is always open to teaching you whatever you want to learn. I came to him seeking to learn more about sword fighting, but in the end he got me into archery as well, which is now a lifelong sport for me. I highly recommend him!

Gordon was great with my Girl Scout girls! Gave them a lot of great information, told interesting stories and showed the girls some great techniques to help keep them aware of their surroundings and to be safe.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Know what it is that YOU are trying to accomplish with your training and then be honest and open with your teacher about your goals. If you say, for instance, on the first day of training, "I just want to get my black belt in less than a year," and you are told only the price of the program, then that teacher is probably perfect for you. On the other hand, if the teacher tells you may want to consider training for other reasons, besides the color of your belt, then you must decide if that works for you.
