We are an older couple who have never owned a dog before so the training process seemed overwhelming before our session with Beth Jeffery. Beth is a warm, immediately likeable person who has a very practical method that she communicates in a motivating way. Since she's written a book on the subject of training puppies, she knows how to share her information in a way you can remember and put into practice after she's gone. It's made a big difference to to us because she is able to let us understand how what we do and say is interpreted by our dog. We now appreciate our dog in a new way because we relate with our dog differently. Our dog is better behaved and more confident too. It's been rewarding and fun too!
General training not to be scard of people
Kym has a number of years experience with dog training. She has five dogs of her own plus she privately trains dogs at her home. Her technique is a combination of gentle and firm with alot of positive reinforcement. My dog and I trained at the Yucaipa Oak Glen Park location. She recommended taking your dog for two 45 minute walks per day so I would take my dog for a long walk at the park before training. I had concerns the dogs would fight but she has never had that happen. She instructs the owners to keep the dogs apart at all times. If you train at this location you will need to pay at the Yucaipa Community Center at the park prior to the class. They are open until 9pm. Remember to bring treats with you for each session. Kym trains with treats until the dogs have learned each command.
Denise was great with my German Shepard name Misty. When I started with her Misty was jumping and pulling me where I could not control her. After two months I was able to train with her in 4 Paws for Patriots. She is now a certified service dog. We would not have been able to complete that task without her training. Vance Myers
I had the idea on the correct way to walk your dog but never understood how. Ralf weber gave me a boost of confidence on how to handle my APBT. I look forward in the futrure training sections and would absolutely recommend Ralf to anyone who needs help!
Paula has been such a wonderful trainer for our puppy who was full of anxiety and too much for us to handle. We needed professional help! Just a few weeks ago we started training and Izzy (puppy) was jumping, counter surfing, biting, and destroying property. She still has some of these behaviors but they are lessening and improving A LOT! Paula is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and inspiring – as her business name implies. She always spends extra time with us and is happy to explain over and over again so we can understand what our dogs behavior. She truly speaks the dog language. Give her a try – you will be very happy with the results – we are!
I recently rescued a 6-year old female Pitbull/Great Dane mix named Molly who suffers from separation anxiety. She acts out through destructive chewing, and has caused damage to the interior and exterior of our home. I phoned Cassidy out of desperation, and she immediately came to the rescue. I couldn't believe how well she handled my dog, not only through actions and commands, but also through a loving massage that made my dog melt in her hands (Molly has back problems). Cassidy is training my husband and me to be dog owners that Molly will trust, and in just one day I can see a noticeable difference in Molly's disposition. I look forward to our next meeting, and hope that my newly acquired skills (now in the process of development) will meet with Cassidy's approval so that my sweet doggie can remain in her forever home.
Earl and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how pleased we are with Shawdow’s training to date. We were both amazed at how fast we got the results we were hoping for. We are slower at learning than he is. We also appreciate your nutrition advice. Shadow has put on weight and his coat is looking better than since we first got him.
Worked with my little Chihuahua Jax & after one training session I saw he was better already and getting rid of all those bad habits!
I bought a dog (german shepherd puppy) from Kris a couple years ago for sport work. He set me up with training and my dog is THE best trained dog I have ever owned. She has a balanced and stable temperament on top of fantastic obedience and protection. I am so incredibly happy with her and Kris is extremely knowledgeable in dog behavior and dog training of all aspects. I recommend Taylor made Working Dogs for any source of dog training or buying.
Vince is very knowledgeable! I look forward to working with him training Triten!
We are so grateful for finding Dogwood K9 Training Experience and working with Ron. Our rescue dog, Jackson, was a stray with no prior training and some behavioral issues that we couldn’t address on our own. Jackson had human aggression towards males, did not listen to commands, jumped on furniture, nipping, chasing our cats, incessant barking, anxiety, the list goes on. By working with Ron we have learned how to address all of these issues through behavior modification training. The best part of working with Ron is that he makes it fun for the dog by using games as a primary means of training. Jackson loves going to Ron’s classes and surprisingly isn’t aggressive towards him in any way, probably due to Ron’s sweet and caring nature towards dogs that Jackson can sense. Ron’s training method starts with the basics and then we build upon the foundation using baby steps so that the dog progressively works up the full commands, while truly understanding them. Our dog’s behavior has done a 180 since we started training and he shows respect for us now. This is after a different trainer told us we should probably take our dog to the shelter because he is going to be too hard train (a lost cause, as they say). Ron’s ultra-positive attitude towards Jackson helped us see that although he is not a perfect dog, he is the perfect dog for us. Ron is a truly exceptional dog trainer. Don’t expect magic; it takes hard work to counter-condition a dog with bad habits like Jackson, but Ron’s expertise will equip you with all of the tools that you need to work with your dog. What I like about the classes is that Ron is training ME to work with my dog so that I can continue to use his tactics long after our classes end. Through his guidance I am creating a long-lasting bond with my dog based on respect, but mostly based on FUN! We love Dogwood!
This review is long overdue. We worked with Dave a few months back and he is fantastic! My husband and I have a 19month old Goldendoodle who has had previous training, puppy training through Petsmart and Petco but none of it compared to the training we received from Dave. He is great at what he does and explains things in a way that make total sense, like why didn't I think of this before?! He uses positive reinforcement training, which was huge for us. Dave works with your schedule and is flexible, he emails you after every session to go over what you've learned and how to continue the training when he's not around. We see a total difference in our dog after having sessions with Dave, we are looking forward to having him back in the near future to continue our training!
Her connection with our dogs was immediate, they respond very well for her, her people training skills pretty good to😁
I had used a trainer with limited success and was frustrated by the experience. I was referred to Bark to Basics by a colleague who experienced great results by working with Melissa at Bark to Basics. We had the same great outcome. She worked with us to help us better understand our dogs responses to us. We tried Bark to Basics rewards based approach and it worked. We learned so much about dog behavior and responses from Melissa. We as pet parents, required more training than our dog! Melissa also is a pet sitter which helped reinforce our training while we were away.
Audrey scheduled us right away for a consultation to help with our food aggressive dog. Within one week using her training and tips any family member can pull our dogs food away with out getting biten or even a growl. Our German Shepard will now wait patiently in a calm "sit" position till we put his food back for him. Looking forward to more training!
The work they do at Off Leash K9 Training is absolutely incredible. Making it possible to take our dogs to soccer games and Sunday brunch is exactly what we were hoping for and they made that happen in just 2-weeks!! What I didn't realize is how much stronger my bond with the dogs was going to get just because they are so well behaved. It's like I love them even more... that doesn't sound right, it's given me the ability to love them more and b***h at them less!!
Paul at K9city was amazing. Very honest, professional and caring. He has helped us so much with our dogs behavior problems. Still a work in progress but Paul continues to check in with us, gives us feedback and suggestions and supports us in any way he can. Paul and K9city have been a lifesaver for our family and our dog, we can not thank him enough!!
Kim Yuskiewicz has trained both me and my lovely Shanti girl for several years. We both love her and have learned a lot about dog behavior. Kim is not only very knowledgeable - she is also compassionate, kind and treats dogs and humans with great respect. With her gentle and loving training, both Shanti and I would highly recommend Kim.
Ms. Peterson is outstanding! Her understanding of both human and canine psychology and behavior is A+ She is wonderful to work with!
I truly understand dogs and how they think. I use varied approaches to find the right one for the dog and parent.
