Amin mounted a 55" TV over my fireplace. I called and arranged a consultation and he arrived on time. He explained the various factors of what I needed to consider and gave me several options. I then arranged an appointment a few days later. Amin arrived on-time, worked diligently, and even helped me remove, patch-up, and paint over thick nails that were left by the previous owner. Overall, hiring Amin was a good choice!

I contacted Houman over internet. Had several jobs for him in my new condo. We reviewed what work needed to be done and he gave me an estimate. He worked quickly and extremely neat and carefully. He put in new electrical outlets Redesigned cabinetry and installed it. Broke through walls for electrical work patched and painted. I cannot even find where he did the work. Set up closet systems, shelving in three closets hung shelves, fixed leaking faucets and installed two large lights in the garage. Bought supplies that were needed and showed me better ways to accomplish what I wanted. He is a man of many talents and I will call him again when I have other projects. I highly recommend Houman

River was very professional and arrived at the time we set. I hired them to repair some plaster that had water damage along side the bathtub. He analyzed the area and found that the bathtub seal was deteriorated so water was leaking into the walls. He fixed the leak which we wouldn’t have known about, applied a fast drying plaster, and painted the area with some left over paint we had in the garage. Basically he did more than I initially thought I needed in less time than we had planned. Very reasonable pricing and quality work. I would hire them again.

Great Job! Came to my home on a Sunday to give me a quote. Started and finished the job on Tuesday. I needed a new door as mine was falling apart, as you can see in the pictures below. Rene purchased the door, peep hole, door sweep, hinges and weather strip for me from Home Depot and allowed me to reimburse him. He even installed my new door locks! Very happy with the work done. Now I just need my son to paint the door for me :)

Project details: Kitchen backsplash using a marble mosaic with a herringbone pattern. Many people (including me before commencing this project) are under the assumption that installing kitchen backsplash is a breeze. I soon realized that installing backsplash can be a very tedious job which sometimes requires someone with a lot of patience and attention to detail, all of which Robin has! At my first meeting with Robin, I was instantly at ease. He is very easy to talk to and was very helpful in suggesting different options in terms of materials to be used. However, we did run into a few hiccups. After inspecting my walls, he soon realized that we could not install the backsplash onto a painted surface. I was very worried that this would bring the cost of the project up, but Robin was able to find a solution very quickly and all to stay within my budget. Other issues arose, however, Robin was always able to quickly resolve them without tearing into my wallet. In addition, Robin was very respectful and mindful of the cleanliness of our home by ensuring that no dust from sanding our walls would escape the confines of his work space (he put up a really cool barrier!). Robin is an honest and hard-working individual who will never compromise the quality of his work and will never cut corners. Robin takes his time to ensure a finished product that is not only done properly, but done to perfection. Robin takes a lot of pride in his work, he is highly professional and an amazing person to work with. To be honest, he's just an amazing person (and funny too!) I will definitely hire Robin again for any future projects. Thank you so much Robin! You couldn't have made me and my family any happier with our new kitchen backsplash!

The Project Manager was a delight to work with with. The team that worked at the house were very pleasant, job went longer than estimated due to delays in getting the paint delivered. We also located a few corners that were undone after job was complete, but overall good experience.

Golden Oaks Kitchen, Bath and Flooring company was our contractor to do all repairs on our home damages caused by water damage that happened to our home due to water leakage which was started from second floor bath room and flooded to 1st. floor damaging, dray walls, cabinets, laminates +++ .. at 1st. and second floors. This company started their restoration and repair works the day after we signed the contract. Their crew were very professional in their fields of repair and replacement, they were trying their best to satisfy us. Any time that we had comments for adding more repair at one area or paint the areas in a color to match other paints , they were not arguing that and wanted us to be happy with what we need and what they did for us. They were always on time and also helped us to deliver new cabinets, toilets ++++. Overall everything was done on a very smooth way, on time and the way that we wanted to be done.

These guys are quality painters who are professional on all levels. The lines were spot on with no tape marks and the quality of work is superior. In addition to my first job I will be having them come back for additional work. There is no hidden agendas in the original quote and the painters are at work the moment they arrive. The paint matched the colors we choice and the clean up was a plus. Fast, courteous and a spot on company to hire. If you want a professional job without the hassles or worries these guys are straight up the right choice for you. Thanks again see you in the future.

I really loved the end result. The team painted all the exterior trim of my house, including, windows, doors, treshholds, rebuilt a wood gate, replaced, hung and painted an exterior door, and replaced a broken window. If you verbalized you specific needs it will get done. I wish I had asked that the interior be better protected or sealed from sanding dust and water protected from the high pressure wash. The pressure wash really cleaned years if dirt from the eves which looks great now.

I can't say enough amazing things about Horacio. I needed my doors repainted because the previous owner put latex over oil without prepping which meant it would peel and tear easily. I hired 3 different contractors prior and they all did a terrible job and took too long. Horacio is a pro and my lifesaver. After 3 weeks of going through this painter ordeal, Horacio completed the job professionally and on time. He's polite and professional. I will be hiring him again to paint my rental property.

From day one Jay kept me informed about what and why he was doing. He removed stubborn wallpaper from my bedroom in a flash and the paint job was exceptionally beautiful. He brought issues to me Immediately and advised, but did not push. It was a pleasure to work with him and his crew who are equally courteous and professional. I was bragging about Jay and his obvious expertise by day 2 of the project and will definitely hire him again if the need arises. Kudos Jay for a job well done.

Zee was actually painting the home across the street, and we asked him for an estimate. He gave us a fair price and a time estimate to complete the job. His work was meticulous and beautiful. We have crown molding throughout our home, he painted the ceilings, wall moldings and all walls. When the color we selected didn't turn out the way we wanted, he came back and repainted a couple of rooms. Works hard to please the customer and guarantees his work. He did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend him.

Scott and Victor were great to work with. We hired them to replace our first floor tile, baseboards, and paint half the interior walls. They also fixed an unexpected water leak during the tile project. Towards the end of the tile project, we decided to have them replace our patio deck and build a vegetable garden box. They were responsive, polite, showed up everyday, addressed every question and request we had. We will definitely hire them again for future projects, since they pretty much do everything.

Hands down the most professional, thorough, man we have ever hired. Him and his son are real professionals. He hung wallpaper in our upstairs and it is stunningly beautiful. not on seam out of place, no bubbles or bombs. he did not rush he took his time and explained the whole way through what he was doing. He also explained the cost the entire way through as well. I am having him come back and paint for us in the near future. Thanks again!

This was my first time using Thumbtack and I was very impressed with both Thumbtack and Adam. Adam responded within minutes and met with me the next day to quit the job. He was very knowledgable about what type of paint would work best for the outside gate and how to get rid of the rust and prevent it from returning. Adam's quote was fair and he showed up on the day of the job 10 minutes early and worked for 6 hours until the job was completed. What I was most impressed with was his attention to detail and the care he took for the area as to not get paint anywhere other than where it was intended i.e.: grass, rock walkway, etc. I would recommend Adam and will use him again when painting needs arise.

We are very pleased with our home remodel done by JC Builders & Design! Joe and his team completed all new flooring, paint, light fixtures, baseboards, and installation of 5 ceiling fans. All finished work is of highest quality. JC Builders & Design responded quickly to all inquiries, and were very thorough. Work progressed steadily from day 1, and the whole project was completed on time. We even added a couple of items, and those were also completed on time. We love our "new" house and recommend JC Builder & Design to all of of our neighbors and friends.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
