Will Hartman was amazing! Will and his wife, Michelle, designed my wedding photo booth template and it was beautiful. Will arrived early, set up everything and was wonderful during his entire time at my wedding. I couldn't have hired a better professional. The photo booth I had was the LED inflatable backdrop and it turned out great in pictures. The props were also fantastic. I feel like they really go above and beyond to do the best job and I am so grateful they did my wedding. Thanks so much for the wonderful job and for the scrapbook. It really was a lot of fun for everyone there and the moments you captured were priceless. I highly recommend hiring Desert Rose Photography for your wedding or other special event. They were perfect at my wedding!

Brad is top notch. My wife and I hired him this past Saturday for our wedding. He was on time stayed a little extra and exceeded our expectations. He is a real artist. He is so instinctively quick and able to capture moments. He also has a strong crew. We opted for photos and video with Brad. We had children in our wedding party whom Brad photographed vivid and candidly. If anyone is in the market for a wedding photographer hire Brad on our recommendation, he could not have done a better job. Pure EXCELLENCE! Irene and Mark

I absolutely recommend using Dj Charlie as your Wedding MC/DJ. For Ceremony, Reception Lighting and special effects. He is so easy to work with and does a great job at getting people up and dancing at the reception. I think the Dj is so important to a Wedding and Charlie added so much to our special day. He was such a First Class Professional guy. When we first met Dj Charlie he was professional and organized which inmediately made me interested in using him as our Dj, he was exactly what we asked for at our Wedding. So when it came time to start the planning process of our Wedding we contacted him many times and he was able to respond promptly. From Begining to end He was so amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better MC/DJ, so professional and yet seemed like a part of our family. Dj Charlie was fantastic. He was able to bring friends and family of all ages to the dancefloor He actually meets with you as a couple in advance to find out all about you and then ensures that everything in your Wedding on your Wedding day is just the way you want it. At the end of the night my guests were saying how great our dj was. We have referred all of our other friends to him who will be getting married in the near future. We can't say enough great things about our experience with Charlie Dj and Lighting. I highly recommend Dj Charlie to Anyone and Everyone looking for a GREAT MC and GREAT DJ. Thank You DJ Charlie!!! You are the best!!

We hired Joe as our Wedding Photographer this past may. We didn't start looking for a photographer til about 3 weeks before the event. But Joe did an amazing job for being given such short notice. He and his assistants were very professional. From what we'very seen from the proofing gallery, all of the pictures are beautiful.

I recommend Danielle very highly. My husband and I did an engagement photoshoot last night. Danielle was on time, very fun and adventurous for creative pictures, puts you at ease, she loves what she does and that makes it great because you know the work will be good. We had a sunset shoot and it was perfect! She knew where to go, how to pose and also was open for more ideas if we wanted. We were there before the sunset so had fun before during and after it. We cannot wait to see all the photos! Thank you Danielle :) PS: she will be our wedding photographer as well.

Nicole and her husband photographed our wedding and we couldn't be happier! They are so nice and professional. They listened to what type of photos we wanted and took a wide variety of pictures. They captured the moments perfectly and really took it to the next level with the posed photos I asked them for that we took in a separate location from the ceremony and reception itself. One of the most important things to me was to get some pictures that were very unique and highly stylized (not typical wedding photos). They really came through for us and delivered exactly what I wanted as well as taking fantastic wedding pictures that tell the whole story of our day from start to finish. The last thing I'd like to say about them is that they were so great to work with. During all the commotion and stress leading up to and during the day itself, it was important to me to work with people who are truly nice people as well as talented at what they do. 100% professional. I would highly recommend them!!

This review is a long time overdue!! My husband and I hired Sean Te as our videographer for our wedding in April and he was great! When he sent us a link to the video trailer after the wedding, we viewed it and we knew the full length video was going to be beyond expectations. He turned our wedding into a movie! I could not ask for a better experoence. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him!

I came across LilyLove 5 years ago when I was on the market for a wedding photographer. She was a new, emerging artist however her work has never faltered. Although she didn't shoot my wedding ( emergency cancellation on my part) she did deliver on the first of many family and lifestyle sessions. She has helped us document the growth and expansion of my family. Each time tastefully, perfectly edited and executed. She's not just a point and shoot type person. She objective, will stop to fix your hair or get tasteful in the moment shots. Each second she captures is one you can definitely relive and get lost in. Each handmade set up and holiday session is definitely one of a kind and adds the element of living a fairy tale. Her talent is an art and so much larger than just wedding coverage, it's life as you would love to remember it through loving and fun eyes. It's an honor and privilege to be her client.

Rolling Tide is a brides dream come true! First let me just say if you’re on the fence about getting videography for your wedding don’t be. It’s a complete must find it in the budget to make it happen. We literally watched our wedding video 20x in a row when Dan sent it to us. It’s amazing being able to relive the day! And I couldn’t recommend Rolling tide any more than I can. They are extremely professional, so sweet and fun to have (last thing you want is a stressed vendor at your wedding believe me), and their work is literally Hollywood level! Their cinematic style is incredible. They told us day one that their goal is to make something we’d watch for the rest of our lives and love, and they’ve delivered!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
