Arrival of the photobooth was on time and also pretty easy to use. No bulky equipment so it wasn't an eyesore in the area we had it in. People seemed to enjoy it and there were so many props for my wedding guests to use which was great. The price was pretty affordable as well which is what my fiancé (now husband) and I wanted since we were on a tight wedding budget.

We hired Supernova Films for our wedding videography, and they were amazing! They were there on time and stayed until the end, and the product was fantastic. Everyone who has seen the video has commented that it is the best wedding video they've ever seen, one even called it "The gold standard of wedding videos. Wow!" I can't agree more. Thank you so much! :)

Tom did an outstanding job with our wedding photography. He went above and beyond my expectations (and I'm picky!) He seemed so detailed and precise, I loved it! Very personable person too. He was such a pleasure to work with! I'm looking forward to seeing how our photos turned out! Thank you Tom!

We contacted Joe to be the photographer for our wedding. He not only did an amazing job but was also very prepared and did all of the research regarding location that he felt he needed to prior to our event. And our pictures came out perfect. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone that would need any professional photos.

I hired Tom to be a photographer at my wedding in March 2017. I was specifically looking for someone who wouldn't need much direction and could get great candid shots, posed pictures, and environment pictures (I wanted to have pictures to remind me what it looked like after the Big Day!). He did so wonderfully! From starting contact, contract, to day of, and delivery of pictures afterward he was easy to work with and delivered exactly what he said he would. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the southern California area.

Jami did the videography for our wedding at Castle Green in 2008. She was WONDERFUL! In fact, I had decided not to do videography at the wedding after reviewing a number of terrible, cheesy video samples, but then I found Jami. Her work is classy, tasteful, and timeless. She captured every special moment of the day. My whole family loves Jami's work -- my dad is actually the most obsessed with it and watched the video a bunch of times after the wedding. We watch the video instead of going through the photographs because it brings us back to the day instantly. Although, I will also add that Jami did give us a number of still images from her video work that are also beautiful and artistic. One other thing worth mentioning is that she was very professional onsite while shooting and didn't get in everyone's faces to get her shots. She was there, but she was discreet and still managed to capture beautiful images. My sister is getting married this spring and is going to have Jami video her wedding. I cannot recommend Jami more highly. Trust me, Jami's video will be your favorite keepsake!

Tatyana is very sweet, professional, reliable and produces quality work. I love her attention to detail. Tatyana was also very flexible. She had to work off strict guidelines at the church our wedding was held at. She also puts a lot of time and energy into the photo slideshow. It was like watching a video of our wedding. All of our family and friends loved it. Her prices are very reasonable in comparison to other wedding photographers. I do think she can improve on her responsiveness however. After our wedding it was about two weeks before we heard from her because she took a trip out of the country and sometime would take 3 or 4 days to respond to emails. Fortunately, the quality of work was excellent and she is always very kind and apologetic about not responding more promptly. I recommend her.

I found Natalie on Thumbtack. I was looking for an affordable but professional photographer for my wedding day and that's exactly what I got. I am so glad that I chose her. She was so sweet and professional. She did a consultation with us before the wedding and we went through a list of moments and things that I wanted her to capture specifically. I am very happy with the end result. The pictures came out beautifully. I especially like the way that she ushers the effect of natural sunlight. She did a beautiful job capturing our special day! I would definitely recommend Natalie!

Hiring Attis Photography for our wedding was one of the best decisions my wife and I made. We met with so many photographers, but Attis definitely stood apart from the rest. Anita is extremely organized and will get out of you exactly what you're looking for. Chris takes beautiful photos and has great attention to detail. We hired them for both our engagement photos and our wedding photos, and they did an amazing job on both. If I could go back, I would absolutely hire them again. And I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

John was really great to work with on my wedding day. He was attentive getting photos of all the 'big' moments and patient with the wedding party. During our family photos we didn't have much of a plan but he was able to help me direct everyone, even got me in a tree lol. He showed me a few of the shots he took and I cannot wait to see the rest. Very professional.

My wife and I hired Laura and Erica at The Vision Field to be the videographers at our wedding and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made throughout our entire lengthy wedding planning process. First of all, Laura and Erica were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were always extremely quick to respond to all of our questions whether they be related to the type of equipment they would be using or the type of videography we wanted them to capture. During our planning meeting with them over the phone they also knew how to ask us all the right questions in order to make sure they would provide us with exactly the type of service we were expecting. And they were always happy and full of energy, which somehow made us even more excited for the big day as it approached. When the wedding day came they arrived early and were fully prepared with all of their equipment. Our ceremony was at a Catholic church, our reception was in the backyard of a private residence, and we stopped for wedding party photos at a third location in between, and throughout all of this movement Laura and Erica were always able to keep up with the group without us having to worry about them. What actually made us most happy with The Vision Field, in fact, is how they managed to capture every single important moment of our wedding day without ever distracting or getting in the way of us or any of our guests. We hardly noticed that they were there at all, and yet they still ended up delivering incredible footage that perfectly captured every aspect of our ceremony and reception. Whenever my wife and I relive our wedding memories by watching and listening to all the high-quality video and audio, we feel as if we're still there, and in this way Laura and Erica have made our wedding last forever. They're not only videographers and photographers but also musicians and audio engineers, and they therefore know exactly how to record and deliver a perfect product package. We certainly made the right choice by asking The Vision Field to be there with us on our big day and we're thrilled with all that they have done for us. They are good people and experienced professionals, and we fully recommend that you choose to work with them too!

Brandon was hired to do videography for my wedding. He was professional and knowledgable. I saw his previous work and based off that work I felt confident that hiring him I would get a good product and something that I could look back on BUT what I got was so much more!!! Brandon is very skilled and is more of an artist than anything; his eye for detail and editing skills made my video look as though it was a professional music video in fact that's exactly what it was a professional video. He is not an amateur and if you hire him you will be given a keepsake and an heirloom that you will pass down to your great great great great grandkids! I can not thank him enough. The whole wedding experience flies by so, the best decision you will make for you wedding is hiring Brandon so you can relive the experience over and over again.

They are professional and talented. We are still getting compliments on our engagement pictures and wedding video! We can't wait to see our wedding pics. I highly recommend this team. Daniella was very prompt and thorough in her coverage. Since I'm personally editing my wedding video and shot the ceremony with my A-camera, Daniella was more of a B-camera so my experience with her isn't a typical wedding video.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
