Excellent movers! Movers were kind, hard working, quick, on time, and even asked for extra ways to help with our remaining time: like setting up beds and taking down boxes. We will use this great company again! Highly recommended!!

Moved into a 2br apartment, did not have very much to move. The movers showed up on time, were very professional, wrapped everything and made sure everything made it in the same state they picked it up in. They also went beyond what was expected of them and set up my tv. My problem was that because of HOA requirement, I had to set up a new furniture delivery on the same day. On top of that, there was someone else moving out of the building the same day which slowed down the process terribly. The movers were paid by the hour and all these circumstances made the move more expensive than I anticipated. However, as I said, the movers were courteous and professional and the price difference was mainly because of circumstances that I could not control but that you may want to think about if you move into a building with a shared elevator.

I had to move on rather short notice and Angel was very accommodating. I had hired him for a Tuesday and some unforseen circumstances required me to change the move to the next day. Angel was very understanding. He showed up right on time and ready to work. He and his co-worker Marvin were quick and efficient. When they unloaded my furniture and boxes nothing was damaged. I would definitely recommend Flash Movers and will use them again when have to move.

If you are looking for the best professional and quality movers, then seriously look no further!! I hired Joel and his movers last minute because my other movers cancelled on me (and now I am glad they did). Although it was a bit hectic trying to find someone so last second, Joel made the process stress-free and he was very easy to communicate with. Joel and his movers showed up early and got to work quickly. I highly recommend them and I look forward to hiring them again for my future moves.

Great experience with Cube Moving! The owner was very responsive in preperation, promptly answering all questions and calls. The gentlemen that showed up for the move were polite, efficient, honest, and did their best to wrap and protect all of our belongings. Upon initial evaluation of our items, they were honest about the estimated time the whole move would take and worked to meet it. They were prompt, took no breaks, hussled, and were the opposite of all the horror stories I have been made to believe about doddling movers intentionally trying to increase time. Great team!

Happy with movers. Work ethics was great. Prompt Arrival. Felt it was a bit rushed unloading. Great care when moving heavy items. The Rugs that were used on the floor to save wood flooring had dirt on them & forced us to clean the floor again. Stair carpet got a little dirty since the movers walked in with their shoes. Didn't make sense for them to wear booties because that would have caused them to slip. If they could figure out to avoid this that would be great. This made it worse for us because we had spent on carpet & home cleaning just a day before the move. Charged $115/hr cash for 3 men crew + $30 fuel fee.

I sent out a request for a pool table mover to travel to West Hollywood, pick up a table and bring it back to San Diego where it was to be reassembled. Cris responded quickly and was able to do the job for us. The price of the move seemed more than reasonable for the time spent on the road and assembling the table. Cris was precise and detail oriented. He was also very accommodating when I had to reschedule late the evening before. Would highly recommend their services and will call them again when we need any servicing.

We hired Move Central to move and pack our 4 bedroom house. The movers were on time and they worked really hard to finish the move as fast as they can but at the same time not to damage any of our belongings. We could tell that the movers are experienced and know what they are doing. In general, it was very easy to work with Move Central. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs moving services.

Wow Wow Wow, I can't express enough how impressed I am with this company! The ladies that came to my house were so polite and courteous! They showed up early ( which I am not used to a cleaning company do ). I actually thought they were so nice when it came down to working out that deep clean they might not get their hands dirty. But darn was I completely wrong. They scrubbed and scrapped every inch of my house. They stayed well over the estimated time frame and even asked if I would like and additional services that they might have missed. I will most definitely be using ZoKlean again, hopefully for years to come, super happy my house looks great, awesome job!!!

I am a Realtor and closed on a property with one of our clients. My husband, and business partner, called me frantically about the condition of the property. I got onto Thumbtack and Maria responded quickly and professionally. Maria was able to get to the property the next morning even with the last minute booking request. I received a text from my client regarding the quality of service Maria and Maid Express provided in cleaning her new home! Maid Express is now our go-to cleaning service!

First let me say this has been a very difficult long distance move for myself and my family. Allen & his guys were beyond great and lifted so much weight off our shoulders. The window of pick up was easy and when they delivered our furniture & boxes everything was the same way, no damages or scratches! The guys were friendly, fast & professional. I definitely have recommended Cloud9 Movers to a few people who are in the moving process as well.

Good job for a good price. Dmitrii and Ivan showed up on time for our 3 bedroom Move. Boxes over self and left only three bedroom sets and two living rooms for guys to move. They protected all our fragile furniture pieces and didn’t nice job to fit everything in one truck. They didn’t even stop for small Break which our previous movers did like 10 times. Very polite team was a great work attitude. Guys even stop the clock before going to the lunch. More than appreciated. Hopefully we will not move again but if we will I will call their number.

Although the movers were quite a bit later than expected they did do a good job. There were a lot stairs to deal with and the guy were troopers. That’s mainly why a job that would have normally taken 6 hours took closer to 8.

They are a 5 star team, I recently moved into a new apartment and is my first time out on my own, and my sister told me to use movers. I could not be more happy with husky moving and storage. Eric and Vladi helped me out with the move and were great. I could not have done it with out them they made it look simple and clearly they know what they are doing.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
