"ShapeUp Studio is for me the best place to train, they have a great flexibility regarding the opening hours which allows me to train really early morning (5am) before going to work but they have also options for late classes or during the weekend. Markshane and all the trainers are really friendly which makes the sessions more pleasant, enjoyable and help you going beyond your limits. The exercises change all the time so you won’t get bored doing the same routine and it keeps your motivation high. A good thing also is that Markshane gives you advises regarding your food habits. About the results, my goal was to get some muscles, be leaner but stronger too and not skinny and weak… I can definitely see and feel the transformation. So far, the sessions have been for me a great way to kick start my days and I highly recommend trying this place, you will get addicted to it. Alex."

"Rich's style of training is like no other. He's not the yell at you trainer, he's not the clipboard trainer, he's a pure motivator. Rich is an artist in the gym. His training sessions are ever revolving. In the past year, no 2 training sessions have ever been the same. I can't say enough good things about training with Rich, but if you want to change who you are physically for the long term, he's the trainer for you."

"I made about three different appointments with different trainers and Bobby was my first apt . After meeting him I canceled all my other appointments!! I Met with him, he slayed me and had me break a sweat base off workouts of my interests and base off my goals. He didn’t waste no time. He Went right into the start of helping me reach my goals. After, we sat down went over my goals and nutrition plan. I left feeling so positive and great that I canceled my other apts. hands down and without a doubt that this is going to be a great training experience for me."

"I started traning with Beany in March of this year, and since the first day that I started with her I noticed a difference. Beany is a great personal trainer in every way, shape, and form! She cares for your goals and takes them as if they were her own. She walks with you step by step to make sure you are on the right path to achieving them! She’s patient, trustworthy, kind, but also strict when she has to be. Beany makes sure that you are getting what you paid for with no time wasted. She has you working from start to finish drenched in sweat until the end! I personally would meet with Beany three times a week, and there was not one day that I would not come out pouring! She never takes no for an answer, and when you are struggling with a work out she does not move on until you have it down! Beany is also great in reminding you of your gym seshs, she would constantly send emails, text messages, or reminders, of the times, and days of meeting. And if anything would change, she would let me know with time. My overall experience with Beany was amazing! She made me feel comfortable throughout my training, she made me feel empowered and rememinded me of my worth as a women. Beany also helped me lose 25 pounds from when I stated until now. 25 POUNDS from March to July!!!!! Of course it took a lot of discipline from my own part, but 85% of that success is owe to Beany! She’s great!!! I would totally recommend any beginner or professional to work with Beany! She’s easy to talk to, makes you feel comfortable, fun, nice, competitive, and very determined in getting you to your goal! I can’t wait to begin traning with her again! "I did a 2 week trial with Adam, and in just those 2 weeks I could feel a difference in my body. The Workouts he had me doing were great! From rope slams, Trx cables and Bear crawls, Adam had me doing everything I needed to be loosing fat and gain muscle. He also recommends a dietary plan. This was great, he provided a shopping list and snacks that I should eat during the workouts to get the best results. Kickboxing is as intense a workout as you want it to be. As with any fitness regimen, the more effort you put in, the more results you will get. The type of kickboxing you do will determine how physically challenging it is. Combat or self-defense kickboxing, where you train in a martial arts studio with sandbags or spar against combat partners, can be an intense physical workout. Group kickboxing classes that use sandbags as part of the workout will also elevate the degree of intensity, because of the level of exertion punching and kicking the bag requires. Cardio kickboxing group fitness, which employ kicking and punching moves but no sandbags, has comparable intensity to jogging but works a wider range of muscles while increasing strength, flexibility and coordination. Here are some of the core kickboxing moves:

  • Cross: A straight punch that you throw slightly across your body, using your dominant hand.
  • Jab: A quick, straight, face punch. Usually thrown with the non-dominant hand.
  • Uppercut: A punch thrown up from the midsection (using either hand) that connects with the underside of your opponent’s chin.
  • Hook: A curved punch (using either hand) that connects with your competitor’s jaw or chin.

What should you wear to kickboxing?

What you wear to kickboxing can vary based on the setting. For kickboxing group fitness classes that are part of a gym’s cardio class schedule, standard fitness attire is appropriate. Athletic sneakers, pants or shorts that you can comfortably kick in without getting tangled or flashing anyone, and a top that allows for easy movement when punching and jabbing are all good choices. You won’t need protective gear or gloves, as most cardio-based kickboxing classes do not use punching bags.

Kickboxing training that takes place at a martial arts studio typically requires protective gear. You may need boxing gloves (beginners may want 12-ounce or heavier gloves for more cushioning) and hand wraps that protect and support your hands under the gloves while you punch the bag. If your kickboxing training includes sparring with opponents, you’ll need a mouthguard and any protective head and body gear your studio requires. Always be sure to bring plenty of water, too.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. What do you need for kickboxing?

What you need to bring to kickboxing depends on where you are working out and what your goals are.
