I've always cared about expanding my english vocabulary and grammatical skills. I find it comes in quite useful for a professional career. The assistance I received gave me the confidence to excel in my professional and personal life. Lois has expanded my knowledge of the english language and I would recommend her to anyone seeking assistance or just looking to expand their knowledge of the english language.

Sean was very helpful and totally professional. His office environment was very relaxed. I needed help developing my resumé, and especially conveying my professional attributes and not just work experience. Sean provided extra help after our sessions via email in the evenings and over the weekend. I'm extremely satisfied with Sean's services and will probably return, and I'd recommend him to anyone needing resumé and career advice. Thanks Sean!

I had the pleasure to attended Sami’s WeWork Vine event this past week. Sami's positive energy, enthusiasm and helpfulness was much needed for myself. When you're busy balancing your career and personal life it's difficult to focus on your personal growth and elevate to the next level of your life. Sami helped me identify what I needed to improve on and helped me set actionable items. She asked me important questions that helped me outline what I needed to do. Having her encouragement and guidance has been so helpful and much needed. I already feel like I'm the right track and know this is just the beginning of my growth. I would highly recommend her services and workshop! Thank you, Sami!

Emily has such a great and comforting personality. When I meet with her, I feel like I’m really being heard, no matter what tangents I go on. Most importantly, she’s patient and allows time for me to work through my thoughts. I’ve referred friends over to her, and they have raved about her as well. Choose Emily to help guide you in your career or other parts of your life. You will be very happy you did!

I like that Bradford listens and communicates with compassion and non-judgement. He poses challenging questions to help me gain clarity on changes I want to make in parenting my daughter, goals I want to set for my new career, and how to maintain healthy, happy relationships with loved ones.

I came to Oliver at Verbal Ninja ahead of a big speech that had career and even life changing potential. I was speaking to a large group of fellow doctors, several of whom were what you might call “celebrity doctors.” Frankly, I wanted to upstage them. I myself have an acting background but have always had a lot of stage fright for public speaking. I worked with Oliver over the month leading up to the big event. I knew what I wanted to say, just not quite how to say it. He made my words sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before—yes, that good. Yet it still sounded like me…I felt comfortable and spontaneous. He sort of gave me the voice that I always thought I had inside, if that makes any sense. He also coached my delivery, voice, gestures, movement, eye contact, etc. etc. His tricks to conquer stage fright—especially the psychological aspect—are brilliant. The result? I think I killed it that night. Even my billionaire friend who came to see me said I spoke better than a lot of people he sees that speak on a regular basis. Even the owner of the company had this to say: “Thanks for everything, the event was great and we were very happy that you gave that speech, it was amazing! Not only the way you presented (like an actor) but also the content was very emotional, some tears were shed from Melissa.“ People came up to me afterwards and shared how I changed their view on aesthetics and really motivated them. All the “famous doctors” who spoke alongside me on the panel were super impressed as well. In short, Oliver came to me highly recommended. He leaves me even more highly recommended. If the stakes are high, he’s the guy.

Celeste is a very kind, caring and patient woman. I learned a lot from her during out coaching sessions together. She taught me how to set high goals for myself. We went over how to write and format a resume and how to write a concise cover letter. We also discussed my talents and possible career options for the present and future. Through my work with Celeste, I have become a more confident career woman and I'm more sure of myself and the career path I am going to follow. Working with Celeste has changed my life! Goddess Ashtoreth has been my life coach for over 4 years and I am very grateful for her. I look back at the me when we first met and who I am today, the transformation is incredible! She is very patient, understanding and honest. She makes you take a good look at yourself, good and bad. She makes you accountable for you and your actions. With her, you touch on so many aspects of who you are and life. It’s about mind, body and spirit with her. It’s about recognizing, acknowledging and embracing the wounds that lie dormant deep within. She helps you get in touch with these wounds and then the healing process begins. She calls this process “The Onion Peel”. At first I did not quite understand what she meant, but as you start the process it makes complete sense. One layer at a time. You have to peel back one layer in order to get to the next layer. She is so patient about it. She understands that everyone has to go at his or her own pace. With her patience, it helps the individual evolve and transform. This is what she truly wants for each individual. It’s not about her; it is truly about wanting you to become the best version of you. You feel this from her. You feel the love from her. With working with her you evolve in some many areas in your life. Be career, relationship, finances, etc. It’s all connected. You have to be healthy in all areas in order to achieve your greatness. When you work with Ashtoreth it’s about complete self. She helps you see you and find you. Again, I am so grateful for her. Without her I am not sure where I would be with self and life.

Randy Moraitis has been my coach through a difficult divorce and subsequent career change. He has the ability to focus in on the areas I most need help with and then works with me to create a realistic plan to effectively move toward and achieve my goals. He listens well and is fully present each time I meet with him, which is highly important to me. As a result of his coaching I was able to navigate my divorce and heal more quickly than I would have without his knowledge and guidance. I continue to work with him to further articulate my career path and how it ties in with my life purpose. Randy is continually furthering his own skills and knowledge through continuing education, which gives me further confidence in his abilities and his heart to bring his best to his clients. Without reservation, I give Randy Moraitis my highest recommendation.

My fiancé and myself received online financial and relationship counseling from We Can Make You Better. I thought for sure I was doomed in bothe areas. After receiving our guidance over the phone for only three short weeks, we found the root of our problems and our relationship has never been better

In aproximately 2003 my husband and I were counseling with Mark. We were desperate for help, understanding, and relief. We literally felt something destroying us inwardly, confusing every thing we believed in. This one thing we could not overcome was killing our marriage. After searching books, talking to other counselors, going to marriage conferences.... really we couldn't quite put our finger on it or get to the root. However Mark was discerning, compassionate, non judgmental and real. He was able to help my husband let his guard down and be honest, open and willing ;by the power of the Holy Spirit working through him. We did counsel for a good several months but it was do to my husbands unwillingness to be completely honest in the beginning. I will never forget that evening when my husband returned home form what may have been one of their last sessions. I was nearly afraid there was such a notable difference in his eyes and his tone of voice and his entire demeanor. He was calm, he was changed, transformed he was peaceful, He was free! The shame, the guilt was gone. His eyes were clear , His heart was lifted. I had my husband back in a way I had not ever known him. God really used mark to bring about a deliverance we never knew was available. This was 12 years ago. Of course like anything one must continue to do what is required to keep the results achieved. If we were talking weight loss , one would continue to eat healthy and exercise. Lets just say we can use some review it has been awhile now (13 years or more) and sometimes a refresher course is needed. I plan to contact Mark for a check up. I believe the Lord led me to find his business I did not know existed. At the time we counseled, it was more casual not a business. I am so happy to have found him after all these years. I highly recommend Mark as he is a great tool in God's hand to bring loving compassionate help to those hurting and bound up by their past and own short comings. Blessings to this business!

        About

Gifted and Creative Counseling is my private assessment, life coaching and psychotherapy practice. I've helped people of all ages fulfill their purpose and passion for the last 15 years. I specialize in identifying reasons for complex problems, such as why we aren't succeeding in a given area (social, emotional, relational, occupational, educational, etc.) how to get past whatever is blocking us (beliefs, life situation, relationships, trauma, depression, anxiety). We work at your speed in person, at my Granada Hills office, or by phone, skype, or email. I also specialize in assessing children who are having difficulties, both using achievement testing, and qualitative means such as observation, interview and play, that can yield a kind of owner's manual for him or her; this is useful in a wide range of applications, and teachers really benefit from knowing this information. I work with wonderful, creative, people of all ages who have temporarily lost their way; I get the privilege of learning about them and their hopes and dreams and challenges, and helping them to get back on track to being happy, successful and at peace.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

        • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
        • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
        • Defining your career goals
        • Creating a plan for job searching
        • Improving networking strategies and skills
        • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
        • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
        • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

        What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

        Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

        • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
        • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
        • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
        • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
        • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
        • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
        • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

        What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
