Vanessa did the work as promised and in a timely manner. We eventually needed legal representation and when we turned copies of the documents over to the attorney, even he was impressed with her work! Much appreciation for your work and time spent on the project. 👍

Our company retained Ben to defend a product liability suit. Ben was successful in obtaining a summary judgment in favor of our company and thereby removing it from the litigation. I found Ben to be very professional and a very good, resourceful and diligent attorney whose fees were fair and reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a lawyer.

Joint motion to terminate was made by Mr. Lerner. The DHS could not establish removability or deportability as was ruled by the Immigration Judge. I had my Green Card and had a theft conviction and a solicitation for sale (crack) conviction. However, Immigration could not establish removability based on a controlled substance violation or 2 crimes of moral turpitude and my case was terminated and I'm now free with my Green Card back. Brian Lerner and his team fought and fought to get me the win in this matter. I will always be thankful as I can stay here with my family and my children.

Thomas Scully is a brilliant attorney. He is representing me in two cases and doing a fantastic job. He's thorough, personable and a gifted writer and communicator. I shouldn't be writing this review because others are going to hire him and he'll be too busy for me - but I am compelled. Judges respect him, opposing attorneys respect him and I've had one witness tell me that if she needs an attorney, she's going to hire Thomas because he's so bright.

I was searching on Google for an immigration attorney in the Los Angeles area. After reviewing and calling 25 attorneys ranging from Woodland Hills to Anaheim California, I called Andrew Park and I could tell from the questions I asked and his responses, that he was courteous and a professional. I had a good instinct about him and I thought it's someone I want to work with. My instinct was right as he proved to be extremely professional, courteous and most importantly a person with INTEGRITY which is rare now days. I am writing this review because I feel he is someone who deserves recognition for his ethical character and work ethic. If anyone has any questions, please contact me at pezion@hotmail.com and I can talk with you further.

I was stupid and got arrested. The cops charged with me several crimes, which seemed pretty ridiculous. however, Mr. Martz got them to drop several and he was able to work out a plea deal that was very fair in my opinion. I am able have the charges dismissed if I stay out of trouble. Mr. Martz was not what you think of when you think of a lawyer - he was nice, normal, easy to talk to, and didn't charge me a million dollars. Hopefully I don't have any more criminal problems, but if I do, Mr. Martz will be my first call.

Eli is the very best in the business. When you need an immigration attorney who will win your case, no matter how complex it may be, he is the man who can pull it off. I have seen it first hand. I worked with other attorneys before I hired him, and they cannot touch him in terms of his expertise and a winning attitude. I would say that he basically saved my life, when others couldn't — if you agree that the consequences of losing the fight with the powers that be can radically alter the course of your own history. Hire him to represent you, and don't look back!

Mr. Ali and his staff really care about the clients. It's nice to know that someone has your back when you're going through a tough and stressful time in your life. Mr. Ali and his staff are also great about making your family feel welcome and make them feel at ease. I was referred to Mr. Ali when I my husband was in the process of being deported. Mr. Ali not only worked on our immigration case but also our criminal matter. When I really thought there was nothing we could do, I was relieved when Mr. Ali informed me that he was able to keep my husband from being deported and also kept him from going to jail.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good immigration lawyer?

Research is key to finding a good immigration lawyer. The immigration process can be overwhelming and complex, so a trustworthy advocate is critical. When you have identified several eligible candidates, verify their immigration law license to protect yourself and your finances. Once you have a set of licensed immigration lawyers in mind, choose one based on these considerations:

      • Mutual respect: You want an immigration lawyer who treats you and your family with kindness and consideration. You’ll do the same for them.
      • Availability: Before hiring, note if they have responded promptly to your emails and calls. You don’t want to hire someone you have to chase around.
      • Proven success: Read former client reviews and research their success rate with cases similar to yours.
      • Transparent rates: Ask directly about what their rates are, how they bill, and what they estimate your legal fees will be. Ask if they will sign a fee agreement, and get receipts for all fees paid.
      • Verify who will handle your case: Sometimes junior lawyers work on firm cases. This is okay, as long as you have discussed it and are comfortable with it. When junior lawyers or paralegals are working on your case, ask if the hourly rate is lower.
      • Be wary of anyone who promises you specific results: No case is certain, and the immigration lawyer should be honest about what you can expect.

How much does an immigration lawyer cost?

Immigration lawyers are experts in the nuances of the highly complex United States immigration system. They help clients of all backgrounds petition for immigration status and become U.S. citizens, and can represent clients who are facing deportation or detention. Nationally, the cost people pay for immigration lawyers averages $500-$1,010. The services you need will have a huge effect on your costs. For routines cases, such as applying for a travel visa, an immigration lawyer may be able to confidently quote you a set price, while more open-ended cases may be billed at an hourly rate of $200-$500, or more, depending on the reputation and experience of the firm and lawyer. Before hiring an immigration lawyer, ask what their plan for your case is and what expected costs may be. Many immigration lawyers work from retainers, and request a set amount of money upfront from which to work. For example, a lawyer who charges $300 per hour may estimate $4,000 for a standard family-based immigration case, the common process in which a U.S. citizen petitions for permanent residency for their spouse, fiancee or family members.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
