I started working out with OJ towards the beginning of January- I had lead a sedentary lifestyle for a long time and felt kinda lost on where to begin. So far I've lost 14lbs, feel stronger, and feel more confident and capable while working out. I feel like he is a great choice for anyone started from a place of low fitness or obesity. PROS -it's private. I always felt very self-conscious working out in the big commercial gyms with tons of people around. There have never been more than 2 other clients (of his partner) during my sessions and often there is no one else. I can focus 100% on form and effort rather than getting caught up in how ridiculous, red-faced etc I must look -attention & assistance even outside of sessions. He's always quick to reply to texts whether its scheduling, nutritional questions, or asking for a routine to do. He's also been very accommodating when I've had to cancel or reschedule. -Limits! I feel he is so good in this department. I always leave a session feeling like I've been pushed to the very edge of my limits but not past- the only 2 times I went to far was due to stuff on my end that I hadn't mentioned (sick/hadn't eaten). He doesn't let me quit when I have to pause but can keeping going overall and he'll call me on it when he knows I can push harder, go faster etc, but he'll adjust the exercise if he sees I'm truly approaching the edge of my capabilities. And he's never misjudged which is which so far. Similarly, I can't get away with slacking on form due to fatigue or inattention but I'm not pushed to have form that I'm just not capable of yet (ex. pushups) This has probably been the biggest thing that keeps me coming back-I've had trainers who wanted more than I'm physically capable of, or pushed me to the point of failure which is very discouraging. -Each session is different and varied- I don't get bored. Also if I ask for a particular exercise he's always been willing to add it to the next session which is nice. -Sincere praise. When he tells me I'm doing a good job I know I actually have! That's way more encouraging than liberal amounts of undeserved praise CONS -The only con/downside is that I was initially looking to focus on lifting- reviewing moves, making sure my form was good, and developing a routine or 2 I could use at my regular gym. But I was also only planning to do a month of training and I'm at 2.5 now, and more than fulfilling my larger goal of general weightloss/fitness! So obviously it's a very minor complaint.
I was a little over weight and couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble getting rid of that last little bit of fat around my stomach. I am an active guy who eats healthy and exercises regularly. I was convinced that I was doing everything right and there was nothing more I could do. I had come to the point where I told myself this was as good as I'm ever going to look and this was my body's limitation. I met with Manuk. We sat down for a consultation. He asked me about my weight training routine, my diet and my overall lifestyle, both in and out of the gym. Then we got deep. He not only wanted to know what I wanted out of fitness but also why I wanted it. I love how detail oriented he was. He seemed to genuinely care. I was a little bit caught off guard because I was just used to those trainers at big corporate gyms that all they wanted to do was sign you up for training so they can hit their monthly quota. However, I felt like Manuk was different. The consultation was unrushed. He broke down fitness in a way that really sank in for me. Finally, he mapped out a plan on how we would, "attack this obstacle." I was in and couldn't wait to start. We trained 3-4 times per week. I had a program and diet to follow and we coordinated the days to make sure we hit every muscle in my body. I had to do check-ins with him whenever I did cardio and on the days we weren't working out together to make sure I stayed on track. He would usually ask me what I ate the night before or what I was planning on eating throughout the day. Diet was a huge part of it and Manuk helped me figure out a plan that worked for me. I work long hours and I don't have the luxury of cooking every night. I loved the way my body changed. I loved how much stronger I had gotten. I loved how lean I was and most of all I loved how despite my own thoughts, I had pushed past my plateau. Manuk took my body to the next level, to say the least. I look better in my mid thirties than I did back in my twenties. Let's get it, Manuk! ^Manuk quote, LOL
I have worked with Ronnie for 2 weeks now and she has been great. She is eager and enthusiastic about my training and is always ready to jump and get started. Ronnie is very friendly and knowledgeable about fitness and obviously cares a great deal about her clients' success. I greatly enjoy working with her and look forward to more sessions.
Jennifer and Siavash are the most WONDERFUL trainers. Personally, I spent the entire summer working out at their beautiful gym, losing over 20 pounds (and counting!) and gaining a lot of confidence. Even now, I'm back at school and they are providing endless amounts of support. They have helped my family lose over 100 pounds collectively. They are very professional and caring- your goals mean a lot to them. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the field and inspiring trainers. I HIGHLY recommend coming out to their gym!
She’s so knowledgeable about all facets of fitness. I’ve had many trainers in the past, and Meghan is the best. I feel lucky to work with her.
Rochelle starting training me after I had my twins (I also have a 2 year old). With three babies in 2 years I really needed some help jump starting my exercise routine, and getting my body in shape. Rochelle was the perfect trainer to get me back on track for feeling strong and healthy. I have been working with Rochelle for 3 months now and am seeing great results. Rochelle has the perfect balance of pushing me, encouraging me and helping me get to my goals. I LOVE her coaching style! She's also a mom so she understands the challenges of having small children, trying to balance a busy schedule and knowing what your body has been through during and post pregnancy. With a busy schedule it's tough to make time for yourself, and I am really enjoying having 2 hours a week dedicated to working with Rochelle. She has been such an important part of my life the last several months and I am so thankful she is training me!
Jeff is a really neat guy. Pushes you and gets you results. I definitely feel a whole lot stronger when he trained me. I would recommend him because he knows what he is doing, friendly, fun, and a whole lot cheaper then most personal trainers out there. Give him a try, he gives you a free training session, you can't beat that!
I've never been able to jump rope properly. So I met Tony through Thumbtack. He's not only knowledgeable, but is a wonderful teacher. I saw noticeable improvement after just one session with him.
I started working with Brandon earlier this year and it's been a truly amazing experience. For some background, I've worked with a number of trainers in the past and none have lasted more than a month or two. I always get bored and lose motivation, or just think I can do it better on my own. Brandon and his trainers are different. It's not just about the hour spent working out, it's a really wholistic approach to health, fitness and achieving your goals. Brandon will send menu suggestions, check in multiple times during the week, send motivational emails and continue to provide support even during setbacks. He doesn't judge and truly cares about making a difference. I could write a whole review talking about how much stronger I've become, the definition in my abs, glutes, etc..but that wouldn't really do justice to what training with Brandon (and his trainers) are all about. If you're looking for a partner to support, motivate and kick your butt, you won't go wrong with B!
Hillary is an amazing personal trainer! I have to say I'm a bit picky coming from Denver where there are a lot of great athletic trainers, but she won me over within the first training I had with her. Hillary brings great exercises to each class that really help achieve my goals, long-term, while keeping me motivated and engaged in the interim. She is great at giving positive feedback on form and tips on how to increase the intensity of each move to get even more results. Can't wait for my next workout with her!
Ernie Salizar was my personal trainer for over a year as well as leading a boot camp that my wife and I attended for 3 months. My goal at that time was to shed about 50 lbs. Ernie switched up my diet, skillfully worked around a few old injuries I had, and encouraged me in his program of weights and cardio. In 90 days I went from 232lbs. to 178lbs. My fitness level was off the scale! I realize that is a lot of weight loss in a short time but Ernie's encouragement kept my motivation level high. It wasn't easy and there were days I wish I never met Ernie Salizar, but you can't argue with results! My wife also lost over 45lbs. I could give you references for at least 5 other people that had a similar experience, and I would jump at the chance to take another Ernie Boot Camp! Thank You!
Peter at Keep Moving Fitness is awesome! He keeps things fun, while at the same time pushing me to new levels with my training. His home gym has a great variety to cover my needs and a few options I haven't had elsewhere like the climbing rope and gymnastics rings. I am closer to my goals everyday and Peter's guidance and motivation to get me there are invaluable!
Andrew has been extremely helpful in my weight loss, and body sculpting. I am a 51 year old female, who 11/2 years ago underwent 2 level neck surgery. When I was cleared from my doctor I have been working out with Andrew. I now am down 2 sizes working on one more size, and box, jog, run, jump rope, and all the things that I didn't even do prior to the surgery. His care of his clients is bar none!!!!
I trained with Todd for over 5 years before relocating to the east coast. If I were still in the LA area, Id be training with Todd. Without a doubt, he is the best trainer I've ever worked with. He's incredibly knowledgeable about fitness, the human body and nutrition, which enables him to tailor your sessions to your needs and goals. If youve never worked with a trainer, youre starting with the best. If youre thinking of switching trainers, youre making the right move for yourself.
Ever since I started my training with Calvin, it’s been nothing less then excellence and he has helped me work on my weakness and strengths. In the short time that he’s been training me he has made all my numbers jump in powerlifting and prepping me to get ready for my competition coming up... he is hands down an amazing trainer and motivator... I very much appreciate all he’s done for me and my training.. blessed and Humble to have him in my corner!
If you want a trainer who knows exactly what you need to get into shape, be healthy and look great, Dan Padilla is the man you want. He is not only knowledgeable, he really cares about how well his clients do. I had 3 trainers before Dan and I just wasted my time and money until I met him.
Really lifted my son's long jumping skills in a relatively short amount of time. Under her instruction, my son won back-to-back league championships in the long jump, was named area all-star 2x, and set the school record.
Jon volunteered his time to meet with me before are 1st training day to go over nutrition and other important tips to jump start my program before hand. He has displayed a sincere interest in helping me meet my goals. I look forward to working with Jon and succeeding. Thank you Jon!
Ammmmaaazzzziinnnggg!! For the last 3 years Sharon has been my personal trainer and I haven't been happier with my bod! After giving birth I wanted to jump right into working out but had no idea where to start. After meeting with Sharon I knew right away she was the best match for me. Not only did she help me meet my abs for the first time (oh hello old friend) I actually enjoyed working out. Which keep in mind I HATED doing prior to meeting her. I was able to incorporate my infant into the workouts which helped heaps since all my daughter wanted was to be held. Being a busy mom left me with little options for dinner other than left over chicken nuggets, the pancake I found in my pocket, or the food that falls out of my daughter's mouth as my snack, but she made it easy for me and helped with my meal plans. Over the years she was flexible with my schedule and even would come out to me when i needed her to. Now I work out of a private gym and love it. Even when I had to train for a marathon (shoot me in the foot I hate running) she switched our workout around so that it would help with my endurance for the run. Fast forward to now (I still see her regularly) she still keeps my workouts fun, upbeat, and always switches it up for me. When I want her to focus more on certain trouble areas (eh hem- my ass) she gladly caters to whatever I request. I'm toned, more importantly healthier and more confident all thanks to her. She helped me achieve the body I've always wanted but never thought I could have. She's the best!
It has only been one week but I am already seeing progress working with Gerson. I would recommend him as a personal trainer to anyone looking to jump start their fitness.
I'm an athlete trying to increase my speed and explosiveness. Ryan and the crew at NLT got me to that next level. It wasn't all about supplements and such like the competitors but more about the dynamics of body mechanics. I learned how to best move myself. My 40 yard dash was shortened by a 3/4 of a second and by vertical jump increased by 5 inches!
