Introduction: Depth of experience: As a yoga monk, I have studied meditation with the best in India and taught meditation for nearly 40 years. I've taught thousands of people to meditate, from all walks of life. I know how to make this easier for you. Music: My lifelong experience as a musician enables me to weave music into the meditation practice, which helps to create the right mood for a deep meditation experience. The right music can take your meditation from feeling like homework to feeling like an adventure. Creativity Training: As an optional additional service, I use meditation and other simple techniques to help people get out of creative ruts, enhance their mental performance and develop an innovative mindset. I enjoy seeing how my students change through their practice. This can show up in different ways. Most common is that the report that they feel calmer, less anxious and more relaxed. Often I notice a change in their facial expression - they are smiling more. For those who take the creativity training, the most common response I get is that they are surprised how easy it is to manage their creative energy and become more productive, once they know how. All of this is hugely fulfilling for me.

Meditation Instruction

As a novice meditator prior to meeting with Dada, I was looking for someone to take my meditation practice to the next level. Dada has done that and exceeded my expectations, yet we've only just started our work together. I've already seen an improvement in the quality of my meditation, as judged but my sense of inner peace achieved during meditation and my sense of inner peace after re-entering the real world! Prior to meeting Dada, I had been using a fairly popular app to meditate for the purposes of relaxation. Working with Dada, I've come to realize that relaxation is a side benefit of meditation; the end goal of meditation is to help the meditator connect to a sense of universal love. Before Dada, I thought of meditation as a room or place to relax. I've since learned that this room/place to relax is actually 1000X bigger and much more fulfilling to me personally and spiritually. In as little as 1 week, I noticed tangible changes in my thought patterns and how I interacted with others around me. As an example, I now find myself spontaneously wishing others to find inner peace (silently) as I go throughout my day.

Thanks so much, Phil. You are a dream student for a teacher like me. You understand the spirit of the practice immediately and apply what I suggest, and that is why you get the results. Looking forward to meditating with you again soon.

In the four months since I have started meditation lessons with Dada Nabhaniilananda I feel like I am much more focused, empathetic and calm. You could say I feel more “myself” and simply more human in general. Things like work, chores, problems are still there, but the attitude towards them in my mind has changed completely and now even the smallest mundane task is filled with meaning. I recommend mediation to absolutely everyone and the same goes for learning to do it with Dada!

I started my spiritual journey around 12 years ago in 2005 when I started chanting the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra. I sort of chanted it by myself; never joining a temple or group. However, it changed my life. I felt as if I 'woke up' at age 22 and ever since it's been quite a journey. Not an easy one... but definitely a journey. I never had the opportunity to learn what meditation was until I had a 3-day retreat at Dada's Anada Marga Retreat Center. There Dada wonderfully played his guitar along with the mantra that he taught us and afterwards we meditated. Meditation is something I have not figured out how to do at home since it's not as peaceful here where I live and I have roommates, but I am sure if I tried I can do it. However, I still sing kiirtan outside during my walks and listen to kiirtan on my laptop at home. Spirituality and awakening your consciousness is important. It's important to everyone. If we ALL did it, it would be a much more peaceful and cleaner planet because we are all living 'consciously'. :) Spirituality is not the easiest journey because it forces you to look inside and sort of work out your issues; but in the process you figure out what is really important and how to properly live. If you are new to attainting a spiritual practice or want to revive your current one, I highly recommend joining Dada on one of his meditation lectures/practices. You wouldn't regret it. The kind of community feeling that the Ananda Marga Retreat Center gives is hard to find. Especially with live wonderful music and yoga too! :) As a note: the way I look at us as souls...When we first come into this world, we sort of have 'dirt' on our souls and we do not shine as 'bright' as we ought to. As we chant, meditate, and have fellowship with other spiritual beings, we awaken our truest self and begin the process of removing the 'dirt', so that we can shine bright again. :)

When I started off with meditation months ago, I was extremely stressed out with work and life, and I've been told that meditation could help. What better way than to learn from a monk who has practised meditation for more than 30 years? To be honest, there are a lot of charlatans in this field, and it's extremely important to find someone who can truly help you out. Dada (aka) The Monk Dude is someone who knows the ins-and-outs of meditation from a physical, psychic and spiritual standpoint. He is also an excellent teacher and worked with me patiently to help all problems I had. The routine works towards both physical wellness, and mental wellness. In the beginning, meditation is harder since it takes a while to understand the mind, but the techniques Dada thought me are just too perfect, and really approaches this from a scientific standpoint. I'd strongly recommend him to anyone looking to learn the secrets of meditation. I can't thank my good fortune to have met him and I hope to continue to learn from him! -- Venkat

Dada is a wonderful man with a lot to say. His musically driven meditation practice brings forth a sense of joy that anyone would enjoy, his incorporation of science into his ideas shows a true curiosity that is grounded in both spirituality and rationality, and his teachings bring forth a motivation to be a stronger person. I would recommend his YouTube channel, workshops, and seminars to people who want to explore all of this.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For individual instruction I charge an hourly rate of $180 if I come to someone's home, $150 if they come to me. I offer this as a package of minimum 4 sessions. You can't develop a meditation practice in one session. So the home package of 4 sessions is $600, and the visiting package of 4 sessions is $720. I also teach groups at companies, universities and non-profits. Please contact me for pricing.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Most people want to practice meditation because they have a problem. First I ask you a few questions to clarify what your goal is in learning meditation. Then we look at the most effective way for you to reach that goal. I help you to understand what meditation is, how you can benefit, and you need to put into it to get those benefits. Then I teach a simple meditation technique that you can practice daily, using music and guided imagery. This are the first steps to help you develop a regular, fruitful meditation practice.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Meditation Teacher: I trained in India in 1979 with monks and a spiritual guru who was, in short, extraordinary. Since then I've been teaching all over the world, training younger teachers, developing training programs, I've authored many articles, produced videos and published a book on meditation that has been published in 12 languages. Nowadays I teach regularly for Universities and for companies in Silicon Valley, including Google, Apple, Paypal, NVIDIA, Facebook, CISCO, UC Berkeley and JFK University. As a creativity coach I've learned through my experienced as a life-long musician and creative writer. I've published 8 albums of original music and two books - one non-fiction and on fiction. I've had many music and writing coaches over the years and I've written and taught on creativity for companies in Silicon Valley including Lam Research and NVIDIA.
