About

I have been taking guitar lessons from Kimberly via Skype for about six years. I really like her teaching style which is systematic and focused. She tailors her lessons to my goals and time. Her teaching method is to help you gain insight and skill through patient practice of gradually changing exercises. She doesn't snow you with theory, but presents it to you in digestible amounts just when it will make sense. She welcomes questions and I always learn from our discussions. She has led me to learn techniques on the guitar that I was absolutely sure I could never learn. For something to seem impossible at the start, to seem possible a week later and to be routine a month later is amazingly uplifting. Kimberly's background was first a life of teaching herself and playing gigs with all kinds of bands in all kinds of places. She has also deepened and strengthened her knowledge by gaining academic degrees in guitar and jazz and also by studying under masters. This gives her an incredibly deep understanding of learning and teaching music, an immense skill in playing guitar, and an appreciation for the challenges of playing with other people. I especially love her continued enthusiasm for guitar and that she really enjoys teaching. I have found in Kimberly the best of teachers and highly recommend her without reservation.

About

I took guitar lessons with Stephan for about 6 months before I moved away from Los Angeles. I was a beginner who had tried to teach myself the acoustic guitar for a few years prior, but I never progressed very far until I started taking lessons with Stephan. I enjoyed the style of his lessons, in that I could choose what songs I wanted to learn and therefore actually want to practice them on my own, while at the same time learning theory that Stephan would weave into lessons. Stephan was great at coming up with the best approach for me to learn any song of my choice for my skill level, while also allowing me to learn new techniques. I was impressed that he was able to figure out how to play songs from a wide range of genres that I chose, and he was really able to pack a lot of information into a 30 minute lesson. I accomplished everything that I wanted from our lessons these past months (e.g. learning different strum patterns, building up a repertoire of songs to play for friends). Stephan is very energetic, positive, patient, and kind, plus it was always very enjoyable to listen to him play. I highly recommend Stephan for guitar lessons!

About

Hello! I deliver very specialized private music lessons. I am an expert in guiding students directly to their goals. I have taught more than 30,000 hours of one-on-one lessons, and am quite experienced in the process. I've been fortunate enough to be a successful musician and have performed with some of the most talented and respected people in the music industry. With over 30 years of experience, I've developed and streamlined a teaching technique that has helped hundreds of my students enjoy playing music by taking their playing to the next level or starting as a beginner. I have a wide variety of students, including some that have gone on to celebrity status, like Beck and his musical director and bassist, Justin Meldal-Johnson.They covered their basics with me many years ago which gave them a strong foundation on which to build their careers. No two students are alike. Some want to play right away, whereas others like to dig into theory and technique. Whatever you want/need to do, I can accommodate in a fashion that will give you long lasting musical skills, abilities, fun or career advancement if that is your orientation. My specialties are: - Acoustic bass - Elec Bass - Guitar - Piano - Ear training, music theory, improvising and rhythm studies for all instruments including singers and songwriters I play and teach most styles, as the mechanics of music are the same for any style. Really: rock, blues, funk, Indie, jazz, folk, pop, R&B, etc. I specialize in older teens (15 and older) and adults. Beginners are welcome. Weekly lessons are needed when a new student starts in order to stay on track. I've been teaching since 1980, and this is the way to do it. :-) Once a student is rolling along and stable with what we are doing, twice a month can sometimes work. (My 18 current students come weekly) Also--I do not teach children. I can, and I have, but my purposes as an instructor are in the adult category. I love teaching as much as I love playing, and my role seems to be guiding older teens and adults. Looking forward to hearing from you! Marty

About

Hi. This is really about you! My philosophy is founded in that it must be fun to learn. The first thing I ask any potential student is what kind of music he/she is into, be that Justin Bieber or Metallica, and that will be the foundation for the lessons. I am also big on practical use and understanding, so I make sure you know why you're learning something and that you truly understand what you're learning. I am a professional guitar player/teacher. I'm originally from Sweden, but I have called LA my home since 2006. I have about 14 years of experience teaching music; I also wrote and taught the advanced rock curriculum at the Los Angeles College for Music (formerly LA Music Academy). Yes, I will teach you how to read music (if that is what you want)! I teach beginner to pro in guitar and beginner to intermediate in piano and bass, from 7 years old and up. I teach all styles and genres.

It has been a pleasure working with Dave. He tends to talk a lot, but it in no way gets in the way of his teaching. Compared to other teachers his price is excellent and he knows a lot about bass. He is very friendly and easy to get along with. Dave is really patient and understanding when problems arise. He understands if, for any reason, you would cancel a lesson. Overall, he is a great teacher and I have progressed in my playing immensely because of him.

About

I have been studying music and playing guitar and bass for 24 years. I have worked with Grammy-award-winning songwriters for Sony as an engineer, and wrote, recorded and released more than 6 albums. I am currently working with a new, groundbreaking teaching method developed by musical scientist, Alex Sioris, called Echometry. Echometry focuses on understanding the base twelve system that is inherent to music naturally. Forget about all those confusing sharps, flats and key signature and get a real understanding of the way music actually relates to itself. I am offering guitar, bass, songwriting and recording lessons. All lessons are customized to meet your needs. Group lessons are also available at highly discounted rates. Get the whole family involved and receive deep discounts. Lessons are offered via Skype worldwide to English-speaking students.

I'm 35 - been playing for years in rock/pop/funk styles. Looking to transition into jazz. I listen to a lot & have studied the music for a while, but something escapes me. I'm so groove oriented that I have a hard time with the straight ahead lines & constant chord changes. Looking for some tips to get over the hump and into a comfortable place w/ jazz.
