Drum Kit lessons with Lael is fantastic! He listened to my desired goals, took notes, and by the end of our 1st session had a beginning plan developed for me to reach them. He carefully dissected everything from our discussion and custom taylor a plan for me. He has a genuine best regard for the students safety, well being, and quest in learning percussion. Hire him....you will not be disappointed!

About this pro

HOW I STANDOUT FROM OTHER INSTRUCTORS: I have regular recitals/concerts for students to perform songs (minus the drum tracks) on a stage for an audience of their choice. Students play on a fully mic'd drum set through a professional sound system. All is done under lights and video recorded for students to take home. Proof that you or your little one is learning and improving! WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE FROM OTHER INSTRUCTORS: I've been teaching students for 7 years now and hold an Associates Degree from Musicians Institute in Music Performance for Drums. I also attended Eastern New Mexico University, for 3 years, where my focus was music business and performance. I started playing drums in my grade school band and was involved in every possible musical group from that time through college. Band, orchestra, symphonic band, marching band, jazz band, choir, jazz choir, musical theater and 'rock' bands. I also attended New Hampshire All State choir 4 years in a row as well as jazz choir and jazz band for 2. I was invited to sing in the All Eastern Choir my senior year of high school and solidified my direction as a musician entering college. I've now been playing drums and singing professionally for 20 plus years, toured nationally and internationally, done recording sessions for albums and jingles and continue to play with Nashville touring and recording artist Jake Clayton. All this experience gives me not only the schooling needed to teach you or your little one in the most efficient and direct way, but it also means I can guide and mentor those that want to make a living as a musician. I teach using two side by side drum sets for maximum benefit to the student, so they can copy (in real time) what they see and hear. Weather I'm teaching and seeing a persons ability develop, or playing in front of thousands...there is NO better job in the world! Music has a healing power for all and helps younger students develop these essential life skills: - Discipline - Dedication - Confidence - Motor skills - Public speaking - Social skills - Communication skills - Cognitive thinking - Creative thinking It's a no brainer to get involved in music at an early age or to visit it later in life if you never had the opportunity back then. Seeing these things blossom in all ages is truly rewarding.

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I also run a special where the student can purchase 6 lessons in advance and get the 7th for free. After the first lesson if the student decides that's what s/he wants to do...they can. If not, they can pay as they go. Or, if it's not a good fit for them...no harm no foul.
    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
FIND OUT WHAT THEY WANT TO ACHIEVE! That's my first priority...I always want to customize the lesson to fit with their goals.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've got an Associates of Arts in Performance for Drums from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. I also attended Eastern New Mexico University for 3 years with my focus on Music Business and Performance. I've had countless hours and years worth of private lessons from a range of professionals including, but not limited to Ryan Brown (Dweezil Zappa), Chuck Silverman (Latin/Funk educator and book writer), Mark Clark (Ottmar Liebert, John Popper). I'm currently the drummer for Nashville touring and recording artist Jake Clayton. I've had gigs in nearly every genre and can pass on real world knowledge of the music industry to my students.
