Introduction: I believe in creating a safe and fun environment to learn music. This environment is important for children and adults alike. So many people I have taught are traumatized by a pervious scary music teacher and as a result have a negative relationship with lessons. My goal is to provide a positive experience so that experience will be a distant memory and exploring the world of music will be enjoyable again. I love helping people overcome the obstacles that are limiting their music performance and experience. Often small adjustments can greatly improve your playing, composing and performing.

Catherine has been my teacher, mentor, and friend for 3 years and counting. She has helped shape my songwriting and given me confidence in my abilities as a musician and songwriter through her thoughtful approach to teaching. Her vast knowledge of instruments, music theory, and songwriting have helped shape me as a budding singer/songwriter. I can't say enough how grateful I am for our time shared in learning and creating. Catherine has encouraged me in ways that very few teachers have and has shown numerous times of her faith in my abilities and potential through encouraging me to play open mics, attend the ASCAP I Create Music Conference, and continue to write and play even tho we are now cities apart. She is one of my greatest cheerleaders.

Catherine created a fun and comfortable setting for me to learn piano. I expressed my interest and the direction I'd like to go, and from there, I felt like each lesson was catered to me. You'll learn music theory, Catherine will even e-mail/print you support materials to give you a better understanding of certain music concepts. It's great having such a patient teacher who can clearly communicate.

Catherine taught violin to my then five year old daughter for a year. Catherine is patient with younger students, kind, and understanding, and really seems to understand them. My daughter learned to love the instrument in no small part because of Catherine's excellent tutelage. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

Catherine is a fantastic teacher. I have learned so much in 5 lessons that I can pick up a new piece of music and play it on the guitar. In addition to being very musically talented, she is quick study as a teacher -- in terms of understanding your skill level, the type of sessions you'd like, and the kind of music you like to play. I look forward every week to my lesson and really enjoy the time with Catherine.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge $35 for a half hour and $60 for a full hour. If you are going to have to travel to me, sometimes I discount that pricing a bit. If you want to pay for a number of lessons at once, we can also do a discount.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have teachers and mentors that I meet with. My mother is a 69 year old concert pianist and she still has lessons. Learning from your peers and elders is key for your entire musical journey.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love music too much to not do it for a living. I tried doing other things but it always called me back!
