Greetings, I'm a 61 year old 1970's guitar player doing much more now. I just released my first album in July of 2019 called 'A Little Something For Everyone'. I was strongly advised to get a music video, and that brings us to the present. I became acquainted with Rebecca while searching for an artist to make me an animated cartoon to go with a song I wrote. She was easy to talk to, professional, had ideas of what I could do to make my project better.....all the things you want in someone you're handing over an important project to. I wanted it to look like a cheaper animation that's popular in the adult cartoons on TV now. I wrote up a screenplay, sent it to Rebecca and let her talent and imagination do the rest. The video sample I got from her to make sure we were on the same page looked better than what I was expecting. Her price was very good compared to some of her competition. I'm not on a 'rush' schedule for release, so it's made this new endeavor a lot of fun. I will surely use Rebecca again in my future projects.

Rebecca messaged me regarding a project I had posted , she told me that she would be able to draw and complete a logo for me based off of the details I gave her. I decided to get started with her right away because she seemed like she understood so I sent her half the payment as she requested and sent her a list of details and told her that I would like it to be detailed and realistic. The first image/sketch she sent me didn’t look like my vision at all it looked like an outline or a children’s drawing. Once I brought it to her attention and sent her multiple images to mimic from google and suggested that she drew my image on pencil and paper before drawing it digitally ( as I requested in my thumbtack project post) , She Immediately got back to me with a sketch that looked way better by following the pictures and details I sent her. From there, adding color and getting the final image was a breeze, it came out great . Overall her work quality is good and her punctuality is good. One thing I noticed, however, was that she slightly changed her prices. When she texted me she gave me an estimate of 30$, and when we got started she gave me a total of 45$. Also, I asked for pricing and to get started with an animation video and she said 150$ per minute. I told her that the video should be 1 minute 30 seconds and then she quoted me 350$. Her prices are very reasonable, however, she keeps switching them up which looks untrustworthy. I also noticed bad communication and comprehension, when I sent her the list of details for my logo she said she understood and had an idea but when she sent it to me it was no where near what I thoroughly explained. So if you plan to work with her You must send reference pictures and very specific details. I also sent formal greetings when I messaged her (good morning, good night, and enjoy your day) and she never formally greeted me back or responded back, common curtesy. Overall, her work quality is good she just needs to work on customer service, communication, and comprehension . (I run 2 businesses with great quality and great customer service, which is why these things stand out to me).

I’m so sorry for your negative experience! It seemed like you weren’t used to hiring artists, so I’ll explain: -prices are based on difficulty, if you want an accurate quote you need to give very precise details that explain the level of detail you need and the style, I’ll never change the price after agreeing on a price with the client! Quotes can be too high or too low initially! -most artists do several rough sketches - mostly digital, this helps save both your time and mine! I did an extra two hours of work to get you the pencil sketch you wanted instead of using a tablet. I didn’t charge you for this to be accommodating- as my sketches and sketch work is always free. -all in all my prices are extremely competitive and based on need, simpler animation will always cost less! I hope this helps you when hiring an artist or animator! Thanks!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No standard pricing. Most video projects/animation are in the 200$-1500$ range depending on length and complexity ( most videos I create are a minute and under in length). Most drawing or graphic design projects range from 50$-350$
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually ask a few questions so that we can get the specifics of the job (length, content, need for graphic design etc). We then price it, usually based on length of video or complexity of the art. The work then gets delegated among our crew.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I, Rebecca, am the owner and I have five years professional experience in graphic design and animation and a BoS in Compter Sciences, Multimedia and Animation.
