Bought three months worth of bass lessons for my husband on his birthday, and he loves his new instructor! Paul is great and patient. My husband had his first lesson, and he already knows he will learn a lot from Paul. Thank you, Paul! He's one happy man...that makes me his one happy wife!
Great Teacher! His playing demonstrates a profound knowledge of his instrument. Whether hes teaching you new techniques, chords and inversions, different styles of playing, or the basics of music theory, the lessons are presented in a way tangible to the student. He is better than any guitar player I've seen, so he can take you to the next level if you are already good, or he can help you as a beginner like me.
Paul is a great guitar teacher i'd highly recommend. I have been taking lessons from him for a little over a year now and has made me significantly better. He has a great understanding of music and makes playing the bass something that i have come to enjoy. if you are looking for a good guitar (and bass) teacher, Paul is the guy to go with.
Best music lessons around! James is so patient and positive in a warm environment and is VERY talented with what he does. He has his own system for teaching his students at any age. I highly would recommend Peaceland Music for guitar, bass, drums and piano! You go in for a lesson and always leave feeling inspired. 😎✌️
I have been a student with Kimberly for ten years. I have been taking blues guitar lessons from her weekly. Kim is extremely professional. She tailors her teaching to the students interest and playing style. She is very patient and often goes the extra mile to help students progress. I have been a dedicated student because of this. I have had the pleasure of playing guitar with some of her other students in ensemble classes who all give her praise for the way she conducts business and teaches her classes. I highly recommend Kimberly Allison of Starliner music to anyone wishing to develop their skills in music.
Mike is super cool and very patient, i've been playing for over 30 years. 2 years of classical guitar, a whole life of playing by ear, I played in a rock band and a punk band, studied heavy metal lead guitar (years of scale study), I changed my genre to rockabilly and swing during these years. I stopped play after a move to LA, I was diagnosed with cancer and went through radiation therapy, during my rehab I unpacked my gear and started playing again. I started listening to country blues, gypsy jazz, western swing, and blue grass. My wonderful wife enrolled me into Artisticworks Academy of Bluegrass (Flat picking). I got deep into the realms of the music surrounding this style of music and found that I loved the rhythm parts of this music and fell in love with this wonderful back beat!!! I searched the Internet for months and only found the solo and finger picking style of this genre. After months of frustration looking for tabs or anything that would lead me down this path. I decided to seek out instructors in my area and thumbtack popped up with several qualified instructors, after a few weeks of thought and trying to figure out the the chord progressions by ear I decided to contact Mike, and in these last few weeks of continued frustration the clouds are starting to clear, Mike is leading me down the path of music theory. Mike can see my frustration learning this and assures me everything will be make complete sense in no to time 150,000 percent!!! I have learned so much in 3 week then I have in over 25 years of hardcore jamming (believe me I rocked the metal) this new genre is so opposite of what I know and he sees this and helps me work work with my frustration. If you are looking for an excellent instructor this is the dude!!! Thanks Mike!!!
Guitar lessons. Music theory. Song transcriptions. A knowledgable and easy going guy who obviously loves what he does. Very patient, he will teach at your pace. He customizes your lessons to suit you as an individual. I leave excited to go home and practice what I have learned. You can't go wrong.
Banjo lessons with Eddie have been spectacular! He's very knowledgeable and can always explain what I might be having problems with. I leave each lesson not being able to wait to go home and practice. I can't wait for my lesson next week!
My 15-yo daughter started her electric bass lessons with David Hilton and loves them! David is extremely accommodating, passionate about what he does and an excellent instructor. I highly recommend him! Marina
I wanted a teacher that could work with an older adult who not had piano lessons since childhood. After many years, I wanted to challenge myself by getting back into piano and I wanted to bring music back into my life. I was a bit nervous about making the commitment and about the time investment that would be required. I also didnt know a good teacher so I asked around. Howards name came up. He was recommended as a patient and knowledgeable teacher that would do wonders with students. Howards approach is not the conventional one that I experienced as a child. He presents many types of approaches and uses lots of tools and techniques to build your skills and understanding of the structure of music. Now, Im stretching myself to learn, remember and apply these skills and it feels really good! I actually enjoy practicing my piano. Now thats a testimony to Howards influence! If you are looking for a teacher that can accommodate your needs, encourage and inspire you, meet Howard and try him out. Im confident that you will be very pleased with him as a professional and as a teacher.
I studied music theory, improvisation and technique for Jazz piano with Dory for about 3 years. His deep musical knowledge and talent allowed him to teach me exactly what I wanted to learn and more. Dory taught me the perfect amount of Jazz theory for me to understand how music works, instead of just memorizing music. His approach was for me to be able to sit with any tune and globally apply my knowledge as opposed to just learning one tune, or one key. All the complex musical theory and technique was broken down and compartmentalized such that I could grasp and learn each concept in just a half an hour session with him. I learned something new in each session, granted that I put in the proper amount of practice on my own time. Thanks to Dory, I am continuously developing my style, I have played numerous live Jazz gigs, and I play in a Rock/Blues band.
Great guitar instructor who teaches you notes, different strumming techniques, picking, how to read music and is a wealth of knowledge on music of all kinds and is very personal and will adjust to what you would like to learn. I would highly recommend Mark to anyone wanting to learn guitar or master it.
Steve is a wonderful teacher. When I started lessons I had been playing for a while but I needed guidance on where to go from just basic chords and strumming patterns. Steve tailored my lessons to the genres I wanted to study while giving me exercises that would better my study no matter what direction I chose to go. We even started coupling the guitar lessons with banjo lessons! Steve is well versed in so many genres and instruments and on top of that, he is a friendly, patient and fun person who communicates well and is easy to get along with.
I took bass lessons from Fionn in 2016, during which time he also taught me about music theory and how to read music. Fionn was a very patient and talented teacher, I would highly recommend lessons with him.
I had already been messing around on the guitar for a while, but decided to finally take the plunge and start taking bass lessons here in LA. Simply put, there is nothing that Roman can't do or teach on the bass guitar. Roman formulated a lesson plan centered around my own experience and goals as a musician, which increased my understanding of music as much as my ability to play. In taking music lessons from Roman, you not only get an incredibly knowledgable and experienced instructor, but you also get a funny, laid-back guy who is willing to jam along and offer insight into any musical piece you put in front of him. Roman is truly the total package, and I can't imagine taking music lessons from anyone else.
He is really good at timing and rhythem. I had no idea about jazz before. But he explained so easily about it.
I heard Brett perform with a group of musicians who were jamming and improvising. I was so impressed with what Bretts part added to the group that I looked him up later and asked if he gave guitar lessons. Inhad been looking for someone who could teach me to improvise. I was stoked to find that not only did he teach, but he worked at a music school as well. I was thrilled to be able to study with him, and amazed at all the stuff I had never been taught ( I've been playing for many years). He is incredibly patient, and has a very succinct and easy to understand was of explaining the theory part of the lessons. In only a few lessons my repertoire of tricks has gone up substantially and I look forward to more lessons.
Great skills to teach. Friendly way to communicate. Perfect sence of humor. Strongly recommended. Rouben Sekoyan, Paralegal.

I understand the learning process and how boring it is and overall, I can help you overcome that process.
New To Thumbtack
I believe that good instructors play less than their students. I am the best guide for my students and let them develop their intuition by being as active as possible in our lessons.
