I have a 9 year old son learning guitar from Paul. Paul is really nice and full of passion for the work he do. He loves music and he loves teaching kids music. Paul is really patience with my son and is very detail oriented in finding what my son needs to focus on with his music journey. He is very punctual, reliable and will update you with his schedule. Paul also provides tuning application materials and teach my son how to tune the guitar. Paul also assist us to go the guitar store and pick out the perfect guitar for my son. We are very bless to find him as my son's guitar mentor. Thank you Paul!!
My experience has been very good.. At first I came in just wanting to sing songs but after taking a few weeks of lessons I have learnt so much more than I was expecting and really learned how to use my voice in the correct way!
Stephanie is a very patient and pleasant teacher. My son now looks forward to his piano lessons and is actually enjoying them. She is a great choice if you are looking for someone who makes teaching fun.
Great Teacher! His playing demonstrates a profound knowledge of his instrument. Whether hes teaching you new techniques, chords and inversions, different styles of playing, or the basics of music theory, the lessons are presented in a way tangible to the student. He is better than any guitar player I've seen, so he can take you to the next level if you are already good, or he can help you as a beginner like me.
Great instructor. He is very patient and has a very understandable way of explaining things. He did often forget to follow-through with sending things (music, lesson sheets) or bringing them to the next lesson. If it wasn't for that minor issue, he would definitely get 5 stars!
Emo is an awesome artist he is patient and understand and knows when to push you to your very limit. I shopped around for voice coaches for weeks before I settled with Emo anyone reading this don’t look at anyone else. Go see Emo he’s laidback patient and he his lessons are fun.
Brian knows his stuff. I think he spent over 30000 hours on the guitar. I usually play him songs I want to learn, he listens for a minute or so and knows exactly how the song is to be played and what he needs to teach me. He is patient and his lessons are fun. I only had a couple of lessons so far but already scheduled the next one for this week. Feels like I found the right guy.
Thomas taught our 10yo son and 8yo daughter piano during the school year 14/15. Our kids were brand new to piano and Thomas did a great job connecting with them on their learning terms and taught them and amazing amount of music. He kept it fresh, was patient, and was very consistent about practice time, using the metronome, posture etc. While I wouldn't call him super strict he brought the right elements of discipline for our kids and they now love the piano and will continue this year.
Very to the point and knowledgeable about the instrument. He obviously has studied the guitar for a long time and knowing that makes the lessons comfortable and effective.
Michael, from my first lesson was so attentive to what I wanted to learn. Kind of in passing, I told him that I loved to sing but was afraid to so he really coaxed me to sing along to all the guitar songs I was learning (I really do not think that any other guitar teacher would have bothered...like "not my job". But, not Michael, he took that on as his job because he recognized that it was important to me). Likewise, when I would show an interest in a particular type of music (i.e. I like acoustic and more mellow, verging on country even), he found songs like that for me and he taught me my songs I had picked even though I doubt that they would have been his picks. In summary, he wanted me to relate to and enjoy the music; the lessons are all about what I want to get out of them...with professional guidance along the way as well. The other thing I want to definitely mention is that, Michael is top-knotch, professional and KNOWS music. He encouraged me to not only learn songs to play but to understand the theory of the music in those songs. I feel very proficient in music theory after taking classes with Michael. I not only play the stuff but I "get it." I understand the technical theory involved. I really think that this is something not every guitar teacher brings to the table or encourages. Many just do not know it! With Michael, we can move from guitar to piano so that he can illustrate something about chords in a key or the difference between major, minor, dominant and diminished chords. Bottom line, I have fun during my lesson but I learn so much more than memorizing chord shapes on the guitar. And, when I play and sing a song...well, it really feels great! Honestly, he is the BEST! He just cares so much about you learning all you can regarding music and he knows how to teach it so that you get to understand what can at first seem so unfamiliar. Michael has the holistic approach. He makes music familiar, logical, relatable and, most of all, Enjoyable. As his student, thumbs-up!
I've been taking guitar lessons with Kimberly since the beginning of 2011. At the time I'd had several years of lessons using a traditional method on acoustic guitar and was looking for a teacher who could help me focus on electric blues rock and move me beyond my intermediate skill level. Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary. Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute. I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly.
Michael is an amazing teacher. Not only does he do a great job at explaining various techniques, but he also teaches the physicality of drumming, which has been very helpful for me. Within a few lessons I was reading music and playing actual songs. He's also really patient, and when I have a hard time grasping certain stuff he will turn it into an exercise. I've really enjoyed my time learning the drums with him!
Kellen is a fantastic teacher who loves many styles of music. Lessons are a very fun and positive experience. I doubted my musical ability before we started, but now I'm feeling like I can do this.
Love David! He was my first electric bass teacher, I started taking lessons from him when I was about 15. He's very practical and casual, you know he's not gonna make you play scales up and down with a metronome for the entire lesson. A more typical lesson would be David showing you how to apply a certain mode, or pattern to a particular tune or situation. Then he'll turn on the drum machine and you'll take turns soloing and holding down the groove. He's very inspiring as a teacher, partially because he's such a good bass player and also because he treats his students like serious musicians. After learning from David for a few months I really started to get into music and began practicing rigorously. Great guy and great teacher! Highly recommended!
Howard Richman is not a piano teacher...he is a LIFE CHANGER. I went to him to learn piano...but realized that the lessons I learned studying piano with the MASTER were not merely lessons in music....but lessons that helped me see outside the paradigm in all areas of my life. Often, as adults, we "come back" to our music...to study what we have been "wanting to get back to" for years. I learned that this is often a time of great change and evolution for us personally. Howard, being so intuitive, knows how to tune in to each individual's needs.... and empower them to EMPOWER themselves. He is a BRILLIANT pianist, composer and master teacher. I've watched him perform miracles with young children who struggled with other teachers who simply wanted to teach "by the book." Howard is always able to find your inner talent and abilities, possibly that are even unknown to you...and he can creatively, intuitively and intelligently create a course of action that will leave you amazed! That's why you are reading SO many wonderful comments here about him. If you are lucky enough to get to study with Howard, it will change your life!...and btw, I can now play a mean Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"....Thank you for everything you taught me Howard Richman! Maddy Reese is an excellent piano teacher! She is thorough, professional and encouraging, not only with regard to lessons, but recitals and NYSSMA prep. as well. My daughter benefited tremendously under Maddy's instruction.
I just started taking lessons with Nolan. I have enjoyed my lessons. His way of teaching is encouraging and inspires me to want to learn. He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. As a beginner, I highly recommend him.
Mr Anthony does a wonderful job giving my 9 year old lessons. He is always on time and very respectful. After just two lessons I am already impressed with what my son has learned. I'm excited to see what Mr Anthony teaches my son in the coming months.
The first time I got guitar lessons from Michael I learned the beginner guitar chords right away and he knew what pace to go at. He knows where your weaknesses and strengths are and teaches in a way that doesn't feel rushed. He's been my teacher for a few months now and it's always a blast!
My 10 yr old son has been taking private Violin lessons at home with Brandon for the last 4-5 months. My son enjoys learning from Brandon. He gives a lot of focus on getting the basics right, something which my son didn't learn in his group Violin classes at school.. My son finds him very funny and likes that Brandon gives him little tips like rhymes/beats which help him remember his notes better. There are times he comes a little late because of heavy traffic but he always sends a message and lets us know about it.We are looking forward to learning more from him.
My daughter is very happy with Pierson as her piano teacher. It is a pleasure working with him. Has the right approach to make the lessons fun and engaging.
