FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge an hourly rate of $75 for consultation and basic design services, but will happily negotiate a single fee for projects of larger scope and size.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every project begins with a conversation. On the phone or in person, I like to talk with any potential client about what they have in mind for their home. Its nice to get a sense of who they are and what they need. The designer/client relationship should be a good fit, so that first conversation is great for figuring out if we'll work well together, too. If all is well, the next steps are developing a scope of work and a contract created specifically for each client. Then comes the fun part, the actual design and making of the space(s).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington and countless hours of study at Otis College of Art and Design, but my most relevant training has been on the job. I spent several years working in small design firms and for other designers on a multitude of different projects. I created my own design studio in 2009 and have done it all since then, from simple re-decorating to major rebuilding of pretty much every room in the house.
