I deeply appreciate how Dennis explained the framework of jazz improvisation to me. He is patient as well as encouraging. He has really changed the way I listen to jazz. It is a whole new exciting world.Dec 7, 2015Verified
Just what I was looking for in a jazz piano teacher! He listened to my goals and is crafting a teaching strategy to make me a better musician while enjoying the process. Looking forward to more piano lessons in the future. He also teaches saxophone.Jun 20, 2015Verified
I am an intermediate tenor saxophone player and started lessons with Dennis in hopes of improving my jazz improvisations skills. Because of Dennis' ability to identify my strengths and areas in need of improvement, I've progressed quickly and because Dennis has a fun, patient demeanor, I have a great time at our lessons. He has a convenient location (I never have problems parking, even though it's Los Angeles!) and he is flexible in terms of scheduling. Dennis is an smart and intuitive teacher and has a highly developed approach to music, so I strongly recommend him whether your goal is to take your playing to the next level or to learn something new.Nov 2, 2014Verified
As a complete beginner at the flute, Dennis made me feel the task of approaching it was easy. Within a month or so I was happily making modest music on an instrument I had no idea how to play. I am still learning the upper register of the instrument and it is going much faster than I had expected. The cost of the lessons is very reasonable for the time spent with a professional working session and performance musician. He is very dedicated and reliable. My schedule is touch and go and he is always able to be flexible. Of almost equal importance is the ease of finding parking when I come for lessons. It is easy to get there as well. Enjoy the flute with Dennis. He is also a woodwind multi instrumentalist and a good guy in general. -Aaron FinleyNov 6, 2014
