Introduction: Hi! My name is Daniel Salka. I'm a professional pianist and keyboardist based in Los Angeles. While working on my BM in Jazz Piano Performance at the University of Washington, I began teaching piano lessons and discovered my passion for teaching. After 5 years of teaching students of all ages and skills levels, I have developed my own approach to learning piano. I customize a curriculum for each student. My #1 priority is that lessons with me are fun, engaging and inspiring.

Piano Lessons

Daniel is a fantastic choice for our teenage kids who were looking to learn jazz piano. We’ve had two different teachers over the years. Daniel is the first one where our kids practice freely on their own. He is engaging and creative. His love of music and his musical abilities shine through his lessons. He reaches his students with inspiration and kindness. Not all musicians are good teachers - Daniel is fantastic.

Piano Lessons

Daniel was everything advertised. Very knowledgeable, patient and easy to relate to. I've only had one lesson so far and am looking forward to many more.

Daniel was a really really good piano teacher. He was really nice, funny and kind, but also made sure we stayed focused on music. I have had teachers before him that were really unstructured and others that had really rigidly structured lessons; I think Daniel was in a really good spot in the middle. He taught me so much about jazz piano and improvisation, while still making time for classical and pop piano. He is also a really skilled pianist and musician. I am really sad not to be able to take lessons from him anymore :-(

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lessons are $80 for an hour, $65 for 45 minutes, and $45 for 30 minutes - billed by the month.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Our first lesson would mostly include sharing our musical backgrounds with each other and setting short and long terms goals for lessons. I then can create a curriculum for us to follow and can begin gathering lesson materials so that all our lessons are fun, focused and productive.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance - Jazz Piano from the University of Washington in 2018.
